The ACTUAL way to get Riot to nerf OP Champions / Builds / Playstyles

Elite4Runner··12 votes·8,071 views

It isn't to come to the boards and complain about it.

Especially when you just lost to someone that was taking advantage of it and you have not even tried it out for yourself.

How then?

Play it! Spam it! Take advantage of it! Again, and again, and again.

Use it to your advantage for as long as it is allowed because when Riot sees that everyone is using this strategy to make the game unfair and unfun, ...

THEY'LL NERF IT!

This line of logic doesn't work because not everyone finds every playstyle fun and it doesn't work in every scenario. Zed could have a 60% winrate, but I still wouldn't play him because I don't find his kit enjoyable. I'm also not about to throw tens of hours down the drain playing a champion I don't enjoy just to hope that riot nerfs them. Additionally, if the role of marksmen in the bot lane is the most powerful class by far, not everyone can queue up as "bot lane" because queue times would skyrocket.

To address everyone saying "I don't understand why people don't play the champions they complain about for freelo" it's about fun once again. This game is about having fun, not just winning. People won't play something they don't enjoy playing, even if it's "op".

Even under the assumption that someone is playing just to reach a specific elo, many people would rather play 150h of champions they enjoy than 100h of champions they don't enjoy.

I actually agree with you, .. but if you are willing to concede that a person is going to limit the champions they play to their own play style, you must also acknowledge that they are limiting their ability to adapt to champions / strategies that simply counter their preferred play style.

There really isn't anything wrong with that, but the problem isn't really the strength of the other champion but their lack of experience with that champion / strategy.

You also must concede that OTHER people enjoy that champion and play style, and to suggest that the game is broken or unfair, and should be adjusted to accommodate for YOUR preferences at the expense of their preferences is not justified.

Marshbouy5 votes

Champions who are objectively better than other champions should be nerfed or champions that are objectively worse than other champions should be buffed. That's not "refusing to adapt to different strategies" or "adjusting other's preferences to accommodate your own." It's leveling the playing field so that it's more about skill with a certain champ/strategy and less about the strength of the strategy.

For this in comment in particular, I never knew how to play Zed, but i loved Yasuo. but then i'd get combo'd out, and not know what happened or the limits of the matchup for what Zed could do to me. So i took the time to play Zed for awhile, and i began to learn what A zed can do or cannot do vs. certain champions. and it was quite insightful.

Elite4Runner2 votes

There will always be champions that are objectively better or worse than other champions.

THERE ARE 141 CHAMPIONS IN THIS GAME!

Learning new champions and being able to adapt and counter them IS PART OF THE GAME!

I feel like if everyone actually played the champions they lose to though, people would complain less actually.

Shhh, that's actually my point. I'm trying to be subtle though.

Except sometimes that backfires. I remember the first times I played...

Ekko Fizz Graves Jhin Pyke Khazix

I was like...holy shit this is free.

Elite4Runner2 votes

But at least then you have some insight!

If I see that you're calling a champion busted and you have match history with that champion, ..

I'M 1,000,000,000% MORE LIKELY TO LISTEN TO YOU!

Galio & Ryze are busted, despite their wr.

Same , except for when I tried to play Brand ...I vowed to never touch that champ again until riot does something about his kit giving him so much kill / carry potential based around the enemy team having 1 bad player/immobile tank who he can combo on.

TehNACHO1 votes

Ehh, Ekko, Graves, and Jhin I get, but Fizz is actually kinda hard in skill matchups, Kha'Zix is funny compared to most standard Junglers, and Pyke was/is one of the hardest supports in the game to learn.

Pyke and hard are two different roafs boy. And yes, I.đid assume your gender.

TehNACHO1 votes

Roafs?

Vekkna1 votes

Fizz is actually kinda hard in skill matchups

That's just another way of saying "fair fights take effort." Which is true, but most of the time you just close your eyes and hit R. You probably didn't miss. If somehow you missed, it doesn't really matter because you still have the damage to 100-0 your target.

Pyke was/is one of the hardest supports in the game to learn

Oof.

x Wyvern x1 votes

Fizz's ult is not as easy to aim at max range in higher elo, and he also has some really bad matchups (like lissandra), he is only good against squishy comps.

He takes A LOT of effort just to win against some compositions, he is more situational than most assasins.

TehNACHO1 votes

It doesn't really make a point when you exaggerate so much.

And there are pretty long sections of the game where you won't have his R, nor can use it. And when that happens, his awkward wave clear and melee range will bit you in the ass in many Mid Lane matchups. A fair fight takes effort but Fizz is at a straight up disadvantage in skill matchups because it's a matter of surviving until you actually do get a good R.

I played a few games of Yasuo to see what all the hate was about, and I learned that on average people have NO FUCKING CLUE how to play against him. You don't even have to be much of mechanical god with him, just learn the basics and sit around waiting for your lane opponent to do something stupid and you'll win lane easy.

Doesn't that logic apply for literally every champion in the game?

Vekkna1 votes

Because it takes way, way more skill to play against a Yasuo (at least as most mid mages) than it takes to play him.

TotalJerk1 votes

Bull. They were making blatantly obvious mistakes and weren't punishing me at all.

DarkSoul19945 votes

Frankly, people have 2 options - innovate a counter-pick/counter-strategy, or adopt the pick/strategy.

Sammystorm2 votes

The less common used strategy. Pick one champion and only play it.

Jennifer4204 votes

i always wonder why ppl say "noob champ i could easily win with your champ" but instead they play a champ that they go 0/7 with? like why...

Horse Grenades2 votes

I always think that! There are definitely champions that I think can be overpowered, but they have to be used by someone who knows how to make them that way. I think Kassadin is busted but when I play him without significant practice I will get dumpsters.

Elite4Runner1 votes

IT KILLS ME when I see someone talk about how broken XChampionX is, saying "They are too easy to play and they need to be nerf'd / deleted, blah blah blah," .. and I look at their match history they have ZERO matches as that champion.

Tr4shB4NSYST3M3 votes

Level 16 Kassadin if he farmed decently, has damn near no counterplay. But getting to that point is hard af Boi.

Everytime I played Yasou, I was like "HOW DO PEOPLE DO SO MUCH DAMAGE TO ME YET I FUCKING TICKLE THEM, HOW DO THEY TAKE SO LITTLE DAMAGE WHEN I PLAY THEM BUT I GET BLOWN IN TWO, IOFJASDIOFSDIOGJAOISDI"

agac42341 votes

because most of the time they dont enjoy that champion and they dont want to play against them too. like brand i dont enjoy brand but i think his pretty strong rn. and if ur telling me to play that champion because his op rn am not going to do that because i dont find him fun and if am not having fun am not going to play.

No nerfs

Yeah I guess your strategy works fucking wonders.

He's getting buffed......

Essence Reaver [Context] Cost lowered from 3200 to 3000 Combine cost lowered from 450 to 250

If this Essence Reaver change goes live I'm probably switching my perm ban to Lucian.

Because at this point, point and click characters are just as rewarded, if not more rewarding than champs that take skill. At this point, point and click champs are freakin meta, while skillshot, and skill champs are gutted

Elite4Runner2 votes

Then abuse the point and click champions and neglect the skill shot champions until Riot does something about it.

I'm surprised nobody has pointed this out yet, .. Yes, it would require that A LOT OF PEOPLE do the same, .. but simply complaining about a champion that you don't actually play for yourself (WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE DO) is not working to change anyone's opinion.

Most of the time the people complaining about how strong a champion / strategy is, they don't even try doing it themselves, .. and if they did, they would see it often isn't as simple as it seems.

Ok. I tried MF, first time ez game, I got fed She is Extremly Oppresive and needs to have her Q nerfed. It’s bs how 1 dmg ability can deal have of their Heath. Ok, I tried Garen, ez game, ez S tier Super Tanky, super regen, súper damage, and easy to play Ok, I tried Warwick, ez game, ez S- Gimmick with low health is fun, but kinda defeats outplay when a wolf runs at you at 90 mph, or 180 kph or something with over 3000 hp, while you’re at 600 hp. Ok, I tried Nasus, ez game, ez S, I did 1.5k dmg with Q and got insanely fed. Most balanced out of all of these. Insane lifesteal tho Ok, I tried Annie, gg ez, cheese mid lane-Point and click stuns. Bs range. Nuff said Ok, I tried Sona, ez af support.-Runs, heals, dmg. Nuff said Ok, I maines Tristana at one point, ez S tiers-Fking bs dmg late game, with tons of mobility and escape. Harder to kill than a fed Caitlyn Ok, I tried Jax-Counter gimmick gives no counterplay, unless AP cc. Ult almost guarentees a victory Ok, I tried Zoe, she’s Garbo, and I still main her. Ok, I tried LeBlanc, pretty easy, point and click, gg, so much dmg. Ok, I tried Irelia, enough said Ok, Aurelion Sol, pretty fine in my opinion, get some cc on dat boi, and he ded. Master Yeet-WUJU LIVES ON IN ME I’ve tried many meta champs, especially the new broke ones. I know when champs are broke, but legit, Point and Click need to be nerfed. MF people say, is exploitable in high elo. In Worlds, an instalock MF won the game In Diamond+, MF is s tier

Danjeng1 votes

So basically every champion except for your main is broken. Zoe is cancer lol.

Actually, she was quite broken, and I welcomed nerfs. After her nerfs tho, she’s garb. You can’t even make an impact on anyone anymore without being ahead.

Don't worry, after any big event those champs will ALWAYS get nerfed ;) look at Irelia, Zac, Kha'zix, they get played in tournaments and get nerfed to oblivion

Sire Hippington1 votes

Don't think that's how it works, most of the shit people complain about is also off the charts in terms off pickrate

For top, sion, Urgot, Irelia and Jax are about the most complained about champs, and together with Aatrox they are also the top 5 pickrates Mid We have Ahrie, LB Yasuo, Zed and Yasuo in the top 5 pickrates, all off them get frequently complained about Bot Lucian and Kaisa are by far the two highest pickrates and are also the two that get complained about the most...

Over useing certain shit makes Riot more carefull about not beeing to harsh if anything, as they don't want to put off that big playerbase.
