Why are Reds so silent on the topic of Yorick?

Yorick

  • No skins since release of champion in 2011.
  • Removed out of free week rotation.
  • Nerfed repeatable out of viability.
  • Generally considered "toxic" and "unfun" to play as/against.

Yet and still, a rework for him is still somehow not a priority. Why?

Which -should- be good reason to prioritize a rework.

Yorick IS unfun. Riot made a mistake when they made his kit. They would like nothing more than to simply forget about him. Yorick item 3042

I have fun playing him personally, but I know the general consensus is he is the most toxic champion in the game.

People theorize that Riot either does not know how or cannot execute the proper rework due to/and/or/with they lack the technology to do so which is why they still havent gotten to it

just look at azir soldiers are malzahar's dog

"minion mancing" is a difficult thing to pull off

Anyone who plays Yorick has fun playing him he's a lane bully, with a ton of damage in this kit and an ult+kit combo that turns 1 v 1 into 5v1 all the while he takes reduced damage, slows you, gains life and then smacks you into the ground with (2) shovels. Yorick is unfun to play against because there is no clarity or readability for what his moves(ghouls) actually do, he can out sustain harass forever with a simple purchase of item 3070 >>item 3042, he can harass you 80000000000000000 miles away and force you not only under your turret but behind it like maybe even halfway to your inner turret lol.

But after all that, a team fight happens. And Yorick the strong AD top laner has no hard CC, no gap closer and no way to get to the backlines of a fight and take out a carry. His kit does nothing but help himself, and most people just get generally confused by his ult, again due to a complete and utter lack of clarity.

Riot had a paper kit at one point, but it didn't work out and until the person working on the new kit for him has a solid paper kit they cannot move forward with anything on him. He's currently in a terrible spot and drawing attention to him will simply point out the fact that Riot is struggling to put together a balanced and viable kit for him.

They don't have that many people working on reworks, maybe 4 or 5 now (designers - there are lots of other people involved in art and other assets). There are also a lot of planned rework projects, but they take a long time. Gangplank, for instance, has been in the process of rework for over 6 months (and is on hold for the moment, I believe). We talk a lot about Riot priorities on the forums, but we can't actually see their calendars, plans, or failed projects. A lot of the stuff we ultimately see takes a LONG TIME in creation, testing, and implementation.

I do think Riot should be more upfront about their goals and plans to achieve them, but I can understand that things take so long.

They have a kit idea, but for some reason it was pushed back. I think they wanted to wait and do visuals and gameplay at the same time.

But... is he really unviable? My opinion on this really doesn't matter, as I rarely play top and never play Yorick, but every time I see a Yorick, not only does he stomp lane, but he becomes a monster with Muramana and Tri. He also has a fairly high winrate (or course, that may just be the result of his low pickrate).
