Garen is bullshit, convince me otherwise

Give me legit reasons why Garen isn't bullshit. Here are the reasons why he is:

Very strong damage early game (without items) No mana High sustain Nuke R that punishes you for building HP, but nukes you if you don't build it Can set you as the "villain" punishing you for doing well in the game His Q is easily landed due to the movement speed, has high damage and a silence Insanely good AoE armor shred Deals bonus damage in 1v1 fights (E damage) very safe pick in solo Q (I don't care that he is bad in Diamond+, that is 2% of the players)

It is all of these things together that I think make him such a pain. Garen is supposed to be a slow monster, yet he has a 30% movement speed buff with a 8 second CD, and 340 movement speed... I would think he would at least have 330-335 movement speed, you know like actually slow champions.

Garen has a few noobtraps that can trip up newer players on him such as his E dealing AoE damage. Villain is also stupid, he didn't need true damage.

He is a bit BS, but there're reasons why he is not pick-banned. Pick him up and see what irks you. Some will be champion specific (Syndra infinite kite and tank-busting ADCs ruining your day), others might surprise you.

garen is trash early and shouldn't be winning lane in most matchups his sustain is ass pre-11 if R wasn't an execute there'd be no point to the spell villain is a dumb gimmick i agree Q is the slowest AA reset in the entire game and you can do your full combo before being hit by it thus rendering silence moot shred is no higher than anyone else's only happens if you're fighting in the jungle one of the least safe picks at any elo because he has legitimate hard lane counters that can trash him from level 1

also:

exclusively melee range
only a meager speed up for mobility

5 damage auto level 1 is a fact? You sir need to learn what a fact is. Here is a fact for you proven by math.

Shaco has 78 ad level 1 (assuming some combo of domination, inspiration, and sorcery)

Garen has 36 armor level 1

78 - 36/136 x 78 = 57 damage

Garen has 66 ad level 1 and his Q is 140% ad + 30 at level 1.

Shaco has 587 health with 30 armor.

66 x 1.4 + 30 = 122.4

122.4 - 30/130 x 122.4 = 94 damage

94/587 = 16% of Shaco's max health

Totally the facts...

Garen had 55% win rate on OP.GG a few patches ago (8.15 I think) so he is no trash His sustain is better than no sustain (Like say Wukong) I am not saying remove the R execute, I am saying all those things together are annoying Villain is an extremely dumb gimmick I agree that his Q is slow, but it hits like a truck while also silencing you for 1.5 seconds! His Shred is AoE 25%, unlike lets say Wukong's 30% armor shred to single target. His bonus damage 1v1 is not only in the jungle.... "Judgment deals 33% bonus damage when hitting a single target" I disagree, Garen is a great safe pick if you aren't absolutely countered

He isn't trash in general, but his early game is HIGHLY overrated. But, assuming you're a Wukong main, you early game is even worse, maybe the worst in top, so that doesn't really matter lol.

The thing about Garen's silence is, like I said, it's slow enough that you can pump out some or all of your combo depending on champ. If all your spells are on CD anyway then there's not much of a point to being silenced, is there?

J4 has AOE 25%, Black Cleaver is 24%, Kog Q is 28%, Renek fury E is 35%, Nasus E 35% etc. You can look it up here. http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Armor_penetration

Garen isn't a great safe FIRST pick because it opens you up to getting hit with those counters.

apart the joke, he's annoying but he's one of the most kitable/ avoidable tanks. He Can run fast but He can be zoned and cannot engage alone in teamfights. Just dont disrespect him in duels :)

Imo, "noob" champions should never be meta (stuff like Garen Annie Ashe you know the basic ones) and shouldn't be able to be strong picks. They're extremely easy to play, and playing champions that require "more skill" shouldn't be inherently useless due to the fact that these champions are stronger than you with less effort input. They should only be viable if mastered and played by mains (stating Annie Ashe ) , not being safe picks that shit on everything (which is the case for Garen )

I mean, what the fuck is this idea to reward players for losing their lane with the vilain mechanic ?

I completely agree with your POV, Garen shits on any laner (yes even Darius and other lane bullies) because well, it's not like he has mana to manadge or hard time to get hp back in lane, he just trades over and over and over again, activating his W to make your burst tickle and silencing you so you can't even flash out, he can stay on lane for the whole game and still be full hp and still able to spam abilities. Actually Garen could just sit on lane for the whole game and push, recover, push, recover, kill you when you try to do anything (his ult alone ensures his victory in any 1v1) and if he dies, well, he buys 5000 gold worth of items from the beginning of the game since he sat on lane for this whole time and comes back with +1000 hp and 40 ad 20% cdr armor shred and armor/mr and boots.

Auto win lane even without pressing B in the whole game. The only thing Garen has to do is help his allies, since he auto wins his lane (even against champions who put him behind in early like Heimer in 5 for all Garen just tanks the early game, buys MR HP and AD and goes back to face roll on 5 Heimers at a time).

you seriously have no clue. like how long are you actually playing the game to think that garen can easily trade into darius and win every time? your misplays must be crazy, because literally all you have to do as darius is stand there and auto attack and press w to win against garen. you dont even need to hit your q.

like, i dont know how youre playing down there in bronze, but if we assume that both you and your opponent just play the dumbest way possible, the darius should still win. it generally takes some serious efford on garens part to win trades against darius. you have to bait out cooldowns, act during those cooldown windows, cleanse the w slow immediately, and try to never get engaged in anything but short trades. one mistake and you die.

i dont think youre playing smart enough down there for that to be the case.

Garen has the tools to in and out, why would he trade with Darius continually? I don't understand your point. Garen can't kill Darius? Then he just waits for Darius to waste his Q on minions since in the most common elo ALL DARIUS PLAYERS DO THIS, except maybe some second accounts diamond+ players who just wanna bully some lower skill players just for the pleasure to ruin their time and see them flame in /all.

Garen has as much wave clear as Darius, nearly the same itemization, but he's more tanky while Darius is more offensive. They're literally 2 forms of the same champion. Garen just freezes lane and Darius won't do shit.

Darius has no mobility ablities so Garen roams more efficiently. Garen doesn't win lane, but he wins the macro game. TA-DAA !

And Darius has mana. So Garen waits for DD to waste his mana and then he can all in as much as he wants. Darius doesn't have pure damage reduction either, so Garen's W wins trades automatically, with his passive healing making him slowly win over Darius by recovering between fights/wave clear.

Just use basic counter knowledge and Garen beats Darius on the medium/long term. And Garen has silence, Darius has a grab which has a trash range and width so it's easy as fck to avoid with ms bonus and slow resistance. Darius kills someone? He becomes the villain. WP now Garen will shit on Darius' ult with his own, without needing to stack anything to use it to it's fullest.

Oh no! He can run at me with like a 90ms boost for 3.5 seconds! If only other toplaners had slows, hard cc or dashes to somehow counter that earily on! Oh wait... They do!

Now, obviously Wukong does not, but that champion is around as well designed for toplane as Ashe is currently

The only thing I would not mind being changed is the Villain mechanic. The whole punishing you for doing well thing is simply a bullshit mechanic that needs changing.
