Skillshot based champions aren't played in high elo

I see a lot of people say this considering things like Lux, but I'd like to give you a clear counterexample.

Nidalee

Shit at low tiers and much better in higher elos, Nidalee is often completely reliant on a slow, heavily telegraphed, only really does good damage if it hits from long range, skillshot. Yet Nidalee is better in high elos, where people should be able to dodge that, right? And in Bronze, no one can dodge anything - so why isn't Nidalee shining there?

EDIT: I may have missed my point. My point, contradictory to the title, is that skillshot champions are indeed played in higher elos.

Because no one knows how to use mechanically intensive champions in lower elos effectively.

Huh... how is Nidalee mechanically intensive? I don't understand. The Q+R+W+Q+E (or E+Q) combo seems to do most jobs fairly well, with not much deviation.

you don't jungle at higher elos, do you

Nidalee is a more difficult jungler to play. Her first clear requires proper kiting of camps and they have made changes to her q reset and stance reset on autos to make it even more difficult. I honestly do not see her played that often anymore. Lately its been Lee Sin, Khazix, Hecarim, Vi, Zac, Rengar as the preferred jungle picks at higher Elo

Not talking much about meta, but more that someone who's completely skillshot reliant is played in high elos.

She usually dominates early game. Reason she does poorly in low elo is because bronze/silver is very team fight reliant where nidalee does not shine. I can tell you from experience playing her in those elos that your team will absolutely not wait for you to poke. Someone will always engage and if your team fight relied on your poke you lose. I've seen some decent nidalees just that her gameplay style just doesn't fit well into the team fight oriented aram mode that happens around 20 min in EVERY low elo game.

high elo players know how to throw their spears out of vision to let the enemy almost no time to react

So you agree with me, skillshot oriented champions are still completely viable in high elo?

yes but you formulated it in quite a strange way

The title is supposed to be ironic, or something. Skillshot based champions not being played at higher elo's is something people always tell me whenever they talk about Lux or something.

In low elo the user is the problem where they cant aim for shit. I'd also think that a lot of lowbies dont autocast (have seen so many Sona Ults totally whiff) or aim where their targets are going

Higher elo they skillshot through terrain so people cant see it coming or weave it through minion waves just as a minion dies to give a gap. Low skilled players dont do that

Did you read the post, or just the title?

Your title says skillshot not in high elo, but post goes to say skillshot champs are strong in high elo so I addressed that point that in higher elo the user is the cause for better skillshots

You need to work on your writing more

Cool, so you did read it.

The title was quoting people teling me that Lux and other skillshot based champions aren't played in higher elo, which I disagree with. Can't edit the title tho :/
