The most ridiculous reason you've been called a tryhard?

Okay, so, we are all probably very acquainted with the word "tryhard", even though you never really get the exact definition of it.

Today I would like to hear your stories about the saddest time you've been called a tryhard, and I will start off with mine:

There was once a Katarina on the enemy team, who would be considerably fed after a few powerful roams. I can't recall exactly who I was, but I remember using my ultimate to stop her channel due to not having much else in my kit, so my guess would be either Malphite or Malzahar. Anyway, thanks to me shutting her down in TFs, Kat got focused down and killed, and she eventually said in chat: "Pfff, you ult just to stop my ult? Stop tryharding." Now the words might have been a little different, but the point is I was being called a tryhard for stopping Katarina from pentakilling us with her point'n'clicks.

I once beat a Nasus with Draven in the top lane. He said Draven is the easiest champion in the game and ragequit.

Promos to Diamond 3, 1-1 and im playing Jinx. I snipe the enemy mid laner twice with my Ult and he starts crying about me being so tryhard. I don't understand. You are supposed to tryhard in ranked no?

My team, yeah... all four of them... called me a tryhard after destroying the enemy Nexus. They just camped the enemy base and farmed kills. Nexus was completely exposed but my teammates just wanted to farm the enemy. Shit like that pisses me off because it is so bad mannered so I just went for the Nexus to end the match. Enemy team thanked me in post. My team called me a tryhard.

Tryhard is a meaningless insult.

The reality is, generally, anyone accusing someone of being a "Tryhard" is just angry because they are being shut down by simple and obvious mechanics.

THEY are trying REALLY HARD to leverage some dumbass mechanic (Kat ult) into a clear advantage. And through something simple, you counter them. Generally it doesn't even require much thought OR effort, so by definition IS NOT "Tryhard".

So in summary, most people who throw around the insult of "Tryhard" are not only "Tryhards" themselves, but also mouthbreathers that can't understand logical mechanics.

It's just bitterness about losing even though the pressed all the buttons.

Probably belongs in GD or Misc, but I was called a tryhard for buying specific items in a vs AI game. Usually Occult/Mejai's.

When I 1v4 as a fed Volibear.

The 5th guy ran and I said "I guess he couldn't face the storm" And one of them rage quit and I got called a tryhard while my friends are laughing in the skype call.

Firstblood invading as Shaco then second bloodING them at their red... getting all 4 buffs, then counter ganking every single time. The jungler then rage quit and the enemy mid told me to "f**k myself". Was a good game

I was called a try hard for not running smite and ignite when paired in teambuilder with people playing the pentakill champions.

They then kicked me from the lobby. :(

My biggest tryhard moment. Ok, this was funny. First off, I was Nautilus, 14/0, and I just walked into the enemy team, killed two, and walked away.

"This Nautilus so tryhard, GOD, pick someone who you can't play for once"

I had played Nautilus in three games with the same dude :P

I asked my team to take the nexus in a ranked game when we had both turrents down and the enemy was aced.... i was able to kill three of them and left their base open all four backed and did not end the game, we ended up losing that game and when i said we could have ended they said i was a try hard. Funny enough that was like the only thing i said the whole game.

In Urf our team played a heal-comp (Taric, Soraka, Nami, Kayle, Bard) as a joke. We faced off against a frustrating team (Swain, Shaco and Vlad, AP Trynd, Lux). They got to our base rather easily due to us failing our lanes, but then they started trolling. Vlad and Swain would just hang out near our spawn and try and kill us with pool and ult in our base. Eventually, though because they kept doing this and not continuously pushing (I swear this went on for 15 minutes and they only got one nexus tower) we managed to kill them enough times to turn the game around and take down their base.

And they called us tryhards because they didn't take the easy opportunity to win.

The enemy team had a disconnect or an AFK and my Blitz and his duo partner wanted to forfeit to be nice. Me and the other three people shot it down and he said "Kha is being a try hard, sorry."

He then proceeded to give away the team's position, including my dragon grabs, and feeding the enemy jinx to the point where I couldn't 1v1 her in the jungle. As Kha'Zix. With evolved claws. Needless to say I hated him and his partner the whole game, but we still won due to a Trundle pushing hard.

Every time I play Yasuo, Master Yi, Katarina, Gnar, etc and carry my team. Especially in ranked games. Yasuo is the worst, due to how hard you can carry late-game. Landing a 5-man ult and getting a penta kill causes people to rage really hard about how I'm cheating by playing such an easy champ. Always makes me laugh, because I spent over a month just learning how he works.

I remember 2 that made me shake my head.

1: EQ'd as J4 over a wall to get a kill on someone that flashed over the wall after I ganked.

2: For picking Blitz during a free week.

I used twisted fate's teleport ability to get first blood at level 1 by killing a support that was between 2 towers bot lane. Or... When i was drunk off my ass(somehow I'm godly impaired) I got 3 pentas in one game while also watching tv while using 100% dodge yi. Or... When I picked twitch and built 6 sunfires and just followed around the enemy while cloaked.

I was top playing against a Lissandra as Teemo, cause I am evil. I had the whole lane shroomed and she e'd into a shroom and ulted me, I lived and she died. She got back to lane and tried to e into me without ult immediately, and died. Came back and tried again...I pointed out to her that she isn't going to kill me and should just farm, you know cause I am a merciful manifestation of evil.

I was called a try hard for telling her how not to die...she sent me a friend request after the game and sent me a paragraph about how I am trash at this game and will stay trash... Not gonna lie this was hilarious to me

It's not quite the same, but I once beat an ap assassin in lane (might have been kat) with an ap mage (probably Morgana) and my opponent said, and here I quote,

"Scaling MR runes are such cheap bullshit"

There was a discussion here on Boards where somebody surmised that perhaps 'tryharding' could be bannable. I told him that he was mad at the attitude, not the act of winning-- he said that there was no fun and no good things in being constantly killed over and over and that tower-diving for kills. We eventually agreed that what made it bad was when people rubbed it in, and that there could indeed be someone who was trying their hardest and not being a jerk about it. So that was almost dicey.

On another kind of story, in an ARAM of the yesteryear I had an Annie on my team who demanded our tankless team get a tank; we ensured her that proper use of Tibbers could make due if we just strategized, but to no avail and my friend and I were called out by this Annie for being shit. Well, whatever.

The very next game, that player ended up on the enemy team. I forget who I had but my friend had gotten Dr. Mundo, and that player's first death of the game was a cleaver straight to the face. We shared a good laugh, won the game, gave him a little heck in postgame and all of us shared our GGs, so that was fun.

I don't think I have a lot of stories of people calling me tryhard; I once told a team I could not carry a game for lack of personal skill and that we'd need to come up with a solid strategy for teamfights, and our Lucian immediately started inting and tilting like a rickety pinball machine. He refused to do anything but follow me just out of range and wouldn't engage until I died. I nonetheless managed to pave enough of an engage for the rest of my team; bless teammates who keep trying.

It's usually these cases. I'll say something totally innocuous and someone goes full tilt and starts inting. I guess that's the same thing in a way. I just have that magical effect on people-- I should probably consider law as a career.
