No, this is your fault. You don't get to laugh.

How do you know it was specifically his fault?

I like to read Puaru's comment like it was said in jest... It's funnier that way.

If he doesn't get to laugh, then we don't get to make fun of him, either.

While you can debate whether he's taken community feedback to heart or not, there's no denying the guy is doing a shitton of communication with the community about this re-rework. Please, don't discourage that precedent.

I propose we all lighten the fuck up, and joke about Cass's power level AND him.

You can very easily deny that he's doing any communication. Proper communication usually requires not completely ignoring what people say to you and saying "My way or the highway."

Hyrum Graff17 votes

Anybody who's not blinded by hatred for what's been done to Cass over the last three months can see that he's not completely ignoring everything.

I know you're going to say, "but that thread isn't against the current passive!" I know, it was just the easiest to find since it's at the top of hot sorting right now. I can find other examples if you want, but I don't really feel like debating this right now. Even if he weren't listening, the point remains that he's been reading a lot and posting a LOT more than others have in the past, and making him feel like shit for it:

  1. Isn't a good way to encourage him or other devs who might not have skin so thick to continue in the future. or
  2. Get him to listen to your ideas.
Serpents Embrace5 votes

That post really highlights what Chumbler is talking about. It's a walk-around way of saying "Thanks for your input but I already know what I want to do".

Garlyle Wilds8 votes

There's a difference between "We're taking your request into consideration" and "Yeah we'll just bend right over and do exactly what you want".

To be frank, the Cassiopeia rework's had a faster time for adjustments in patch cycles and shitloads more Rioter interaction than pretty much any rework before, but because there's a vocal segment who are convinced that the only thing that qualifies 'listening to them' is 'revert the passive' they're pretending somehow they've been completely ignored.

Like honestly, from the outside looking in - from someone who's been part of a lot of discussions on champ rebuilds - the "but there's no communication on Cassiopeia" is bullshit.

Being left for almost a month after release with absolutely no comment in any form is a pretty good basis for complaining on lack of communication. Yes, he's started speaking now. It doesn't erase the past.

So many people have just been worn down to "revert the passive" because of how stubbornly attached to it the "designer" is, not because he didn't immediately change it to fit their whims, but because every single proposed change to it has been the exact opposite of what's needed for a cohesive kit.

Launching something and then waiting a month is a really, really good idea. Riot has changed launched content too early too often. Remember when they buffed Zed after launch? Or Gnar? Yeah, turns out people just needed more time to learn how to use the new thing. Now, that wasn't the story with Cass, but I still think it was useful to give us a while to play the thing so we had high quality feedback.

Also, I don't think any reworker has interacted more with the community than Stashu. I'm not going to say it was a smooth process, or that the resulting design is perfect, but we're not where we are for lack of red text.

Reverting Cass passive is an obviously terrible idea. Deadly Cadence solves none of the problems New Cass has and creates a big new scaling problem.

Moving to a new Cass passive with better poisony feel is possible, but I haven't seen a proposal that really feels right yet. The current one does a job mechanically, and does it pretty well; we can't exchange it for a passive that feels great but plays badly.

Cassupea's power level is... UNDER -9000!

DUDE BRO4 votes

Agreed.

I don't get how someone can make a champion update that literally no one agrees with, and then laugh in agreement with their non-agreement! What.

Remlap12239 votes

Gotta say Stashu, as much as I believe that Cass' fanbase are being as toxic as the champ they main right now, maybeeee poking fun at how you ruined their champ isn't the best way to put them in good graces. I'm getting to the point where I'm between saying you deserve it, and coming to the conclusion that this is what you want, which is shitty in both respects for different reasons.

Is it really worth getting into there good graces of the vocal ones here? From what I can tell, the vocal cass fans on the forums aren't actually open to reason and completely stuck in their own world. Nothing that is said would make a difference. The more reasonable portion of the playerbase, on the other hand, would prefer rioters who actually cared enough to post (still haven't gotten any updated on fiora T_T)

I don't care either way anymore, but I don't really see any advantages of "being in their good graces" - it really doesn't do any good - Ask fans of just about every champ they've reworked to get rid of those things that aren't "healthy for the game".

It really isn't what's "healthy for the game", it's really about who handed Morello's ass to him this week - that's who gets put on the rework list. You can see it in his remarks about the champs, i.e. Sion - "Because pressing q is really hard to do". He plays the game, which is a good thing, but he bases his decisions within his Silver elo mind. (which I am also, but I understand that ALL champs are OP when fed).

I've been skeptical of riot for a while now, and this was just the final nail in the coffin. I'm completely boycotting this game and I suggest others to do the same. You've all seen they have no qualms about absolutely demolishing champs that people paid money for without remorse, and it's just despicable. Even her skins got downgraded too, skins people also paid money for. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't pay money for something that riot could just arbitrarily take away from you at the drop of a hat.
