"Unlike Rylai's, Frozen Mallet is balanced because it's a niche item"

That still doesn't make it any less infuriating when these two ass clowns build it: Gnar Yasuo.

Hell, even Vayne can build it if she goes top lane, and slowing auto attacks is the last thing Vayne needs.

Frozen Mallet doesn't even garner 1% popularity on Vayne, heck even Blasting Wand is more popular on Vayne than Mallet, I can agree with the Gnar and Yasuo things, but at this point this is just circlejerk. Kalista arguably synergizes better with Mallet than Vayne.

For those wondering, that's because of item 3124

And then even then Guinsoo's isn't very good on Vayne because Vayne is now going for the Crit Burst build and Guinsoo's is nearly strictly DPS.

Until late game rolls around and you have 100% Crit, Lord Dominiks Regards, and a Guinsoos. You can burst tanks at that ponit.

Kalista can't be played anywhere.

actually kalista mains still have quite a good win ratio on her, shes supposed to be a hard champion and as of right now thats what she is.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

I mean I typically do decent on Kalista, but there is straight up no reason to pick her in any scenario nowadays because she does more damage than every other champion in the role and is weaker than the rest of the cast during the entire game.

Her laning phase is frankly, garbage, and her mid game is only average IF she gets a lead early on (which requires getting carried by your support). If you are going to get carried by your support you might as well just play any other ADC and be even stronger on 3/0 or whatever than Kalista would be on 5/0 or so.

Arsenic Sulfur3 votes

Not happening. Severely hampers on build diversity which is against Riot's balancing.

TheDarkinLegend8 votes

Riot's balancing. Geez thats an oxymoron if I've ever heard it.

Lets be honest. They couldn't balance a cube on a flat surface if their lives depended on it.

Arsenic Sulfur3 votes

Because they aren't going for it in the first place. Remember League is something of a spectator sport now and a perfectly balanced game(an impossibility) is super boring to watch and dare I say play. With a roster that's 133 strong and still growing, Riot has abandoned the idea of traditional balance but rather perfect unbalance. AKA Choosing who gets to be strong and weak to fluctuate the meta, refreshing the game in a sense.

TheDarkinLegend4 votes

Haha choosing who gets to be strong? Yeah how wonderful. They are deciding for the players who they must play if they want to actually climb and do well. Is that what you like? Being strong armed into 20 champions out of 133 or whatever?

perfect imbalance is an idea that Riot pushes to justify their inability to really balance the game.

They set the argument up to make it easy to argue against--the idea that a balanced game is some boring stale set up. Then they argue against that to justify their lack of ability.

A perfectly balanced game would mean

  1. You would see a more even distribution of bans, as more champions are viable in their own unique way 2)You would see the pick rates be closer together 3)Because of this you would get MORE variety in match ups and more amazing games and plays.

I see you bought the Riot logic. But you gotta realize how wrong you are. Its very wrong, and its very devious on their part, just propaganda to give themselves a green light to do whatever they want in the game and claim perfect imbalance. Its just a catch-all get out of jail free card.

Arsenic Sulfur3 votes

Then the meta that has been established STAYS established and nothing can change it. Ever. Also build diversity dies and that kills the part of the playerbase that likes off-meta/unconventional builds. Champions that are considered fun will still have high playrates because you can get similar results so you'll still see Yasuo every god damn game.

Also on the off chance something unconventional wasn't touched by the balance nuke and turns out to be better than everything else it stays that way and becomes king, however nerfing that strat might make the champion or item weaker, thus unviable, thus the game is not in a perfect balance.

The game will also be skill-based and in favor of the skill-based champions because they tend to have more in a kit due to skill requirement. Or the opposite will happen because anyone can pick up Garen in a perfect balance and do better without putting in 125+ games and skill based champions die in favor of beginner champs.

It's not worth seeking and it's much easier to choose what will work and what won't.

ChaddyFantome5 votes

The case with Yas and Gnar is that these are cases of the champions kits having skewed aspects which allows them to abuse the item as opposed to the item itself being problematic.

You don't hear people complain when MasterYi or Shyvana get it because they actually give something up by getting it.

TotalJerk4 votes

Even on ADCs it's an incredibly strong niche buy against Juggernauts.

Gnart Even Close4 votes

As a Gnar OTP, I'm firmly in support of removing this item. It removes so much skill expression from Gnar, forces him to build the same item first every game, has been responsible for consistent nerfs to him, and just makes his matchups more polarizing. If that item could just be removed and Gnar gets compensation buffs, I would be incredibly happy.

Incarceration4 votes

Every mage and ap legitimately builds that item before its nerf. Only a select few AD champs built frozen mallet.

45.8% winrate doesn't exactly scream strong..

Ultîma24 votes

Azir Oh Gangplank geez Fiora strong Leblanc characters Shen always Yasuo have Kalista huge Jayce winrates.

All these characters have had winrates hovering around the 45% mark at a point in time when they were certifiably broken as hell. Gnar may be dethroned top-lane by the likes of Kennen and Jayce at the moment, but if these two characters are ever nerfed (and they will be soon) he'll be right back at the top. Again.

TotalJerk12 votes

Kalista, Shen, and Azir are indisputably trash right now. As for the rest besides Yasuo I barely ever see them anymore.

I think hes talking about the times they were strong, not how they are now.

Incarceration2 votes

really? oh mb, it wasn't clear for me.

IcyPepper2 votes

Tbf, some of them are purposely nerfed into the trash heap because when they're strong, they're practically cancer. Mostly Kalista, though.

Let's just hope they get reworked to a healthy point soon enough. No champion deserves to be trash indefinitely.

Ultîma1 votes

I literally just said; "All these characters have had winrates hovering around the 45% mark at a point in time when they were certifiably broken as hell."

As you well recall, Yasuo had an absolutely trash winrate in the few months following his release in spite of people in high elo and dedicated players being in agreement that he was broken as hell. All I'm trying to say is that a low winrate (not playrate) is absolutely not indicative of the actual power level of the character - which, as we all know in Yasuo's case, is downright cancerous.

In competetive. Yes, Azir, GP, Fiora, LB, Shen (not Yasuo), Kalista (not Jayce) have been very strong in competetive while being not good in soloQ. When Gnar was strong in competetive he was strong in soloQ aswell, same right now for Jayce.

Azir is currently bad in soloQ and competetive, GP is alright in soloQ and meh in competetive, Fiora is good in soloQ and alright in competetive, LB is strong in soloQ and unknown in competetive, Shen is meh in soloQ and meh in competetive, Yasuo is strong in soloQ and shit in competetive, Kalista is shit in both, Jayce is strong in both.

A champion that is not performing in neither soloQ nor in competetive is not OP.

That means: Gnar is meh in SoloQ and meh in competetive. Certainly not good right now.

lmao u really don't know league, and I don't think Leblanc and Jayce have 45% winrates, lmao, and to point out, Gangplank and Shen need a buff because they have a low playrate and a low winrate.

Fiora needs a slight nerf.

Azir, and Kalista are extremely dead. I've seen Redmercy's video on 7.1's Big Changes, and I legitimately said it doesn't matter because to me he's dead.

Gnar definitely needs a buff and he won't be at the top when those two have been gutted. Maokai, Fiora, Poppy, and maybe Yasuo will start to emerge because they are carry top laners that are either tanky and have damage or have damage and some tankiness. I can't wait for Jayce, and Kennen's deaths.

Ultîma2 votes

If you read my post, you would have realized that I said, precisely, that there was a certain point in time where those characters had winrates hovering around 45% while being extremely strong.

Leblanc before her rework, Azir before his nerfs, Kalista before hers, etc. They all had sub 50% winrates while being unquestionably among the most powerful characters in the game. Their skill-ceiling made them inaccessible to most players, but they were OP as hell.

Incarceration1 votes

I said I was sorry for misinterpreting that? Anyway, I'm surprised many people even got your point with your damned English. "All these characters have had winrates around the 45% mark at a point in time when they were certifiably broken as hell." You know what that means to a regular person that knows English? It means that they had a 45% winrate while they were broken.

Ultîma1 votes

It means that they had a 45% winrate while they were broken.

That's exactly what I meant. I guess I made sense then?

Incarceration1 votes

If it's really what you meant, then it's a false claim. Jayce currently has a 50% win rate and he's broken as hell.

Ultîma1 votes

He held a pretty subpar winrate for a long time after his buffs. People have caught on months after the fact and now his winrate reflects that. It didn't used to.

gnar is not in a great spot right now. He has 0 keystones which he fits with, and pretty much every meta top laner right now shits on him.

Its one of my go to items on Lulu as support.

item 2301 item 3022 item 3158 item 3083 + fill in two resistance items or Zon/RoA and some armor/MR. She works as a disruption tank sorta, and the F. Mallet just means they never get away... or get to my ADC since its easy to kite them with that much slow. If they turn to me... well good luck, I got self peel and a ton of HP, maybe armor/MR as needed.

You think its ugly on them? Its worse on a vicious, giggling, purple loving support.

In all fairness though, I think it could lose 5% more slow on ranged. May not sound like much, but 5% of 350 move speed is around 17 more move speed difference.
