Player Agency Player Agency Player Agency Player Agency Player Agency Player Agency

This seems to be the buzz phrase of choice for Riot atm yet they released Camille and gave her the hextech ultimatum. You feeling that agency yet league players? What about her Chogath ultimate tied to a 2 second cooldown ability. Is that true damage agency sinking in?

What about the new stealth mechanic? Does your inability to interact with stealthed units give you that sense of player agency Riot seems so currently obsessed with. What about the new Katarina? When playing a champion with skillshots against Katarina, do you feel like player agency? Or do you feel like the experience is more akin to being masturbated upon by a small dog? I can't tell Riot, please release another dev diary and explain to me just how much player agency agencies the player agency.

you miss understand the concept of agency. agency is not your ability to specifically outplay every little quirk of every character.

rather, it is your ability to make the game go in favor of your team through not only your not fucking up but also your proactive choices, even though against some opponents they just beat the crap out of you if the two of you meet in a dark corner.

what is "player agency" though

Zedex1/22/2017, 2:47:11 AM6 votes

Except you having problems with champions mechanics and your inability to adapt around them has nothing to do with player agency.

Thats all on you, don't blame Riot.

inability to interact with stealthed units

Does not compute.

Just because you can't see something doesn't mean you can't interact with it. If you know ti is there, you can still very much throw all your attacks on it at your leisure and if you have reveals you actually remove their stealth. Riot even made it so that stealth units show an after image when taking damage while stealthed.

Claiming you can't interact with them is evident of nothing more than a whiny baby complaining they can't just press their point and click BS abilities on people, or right click on them all day due to their stealth.

The fact that a champion has stealth in the first place simply forces you to interact with them in a unique and drastically different way that you simply seem unwilling to take part in.

bullshit buzzwords to make shit sound important

like CEO, Corporate Executive Officer

were i live we just call that boss

theres so much of this kind of bullshit everywhere just people wanting things or themselfes or others for various reasons to sound bigger and more important then they really are whilst in truth it's all meaningless

KVbqbFsC8e1/22/2017, 12:40:40 AM4 votes

Suboptimal delta.

Keevalroy1/21/2017, 10:46:03 PM4 votes

After no one believes them with this bullshit, their next attempt at a buzzphrase will be something like "strategic tradeoffs" when they try and fix keystones again by adding more paths and options...only nothing will be fixed and they would have only accentuated the problem, continuing refusal to admit the system doesn't work and needs to be reverted to the season 5 masteries.

Who else wants to guess what their next meaningless buzzphrase will be?

What the fuck is a chogath ultimate tied to a 2 seconds cooldown?

Where the hell did you get that?

Mafia LeBlanc1/21/2017, 8:45:16 PM3 votes

Ok. You're right. Let's go back to Evelynn stunning you every time she leaves stealth & healing to full during a turret dive.

Let's go back to summoner 4 having a lane-wide radius and popping projectiles.

Or mid AP Morgana and Janna pressing a button and walking away, fully clearing the wave in one spell.

Or how about Sona with Innervating Locket and infinite mana, literally doing nothing but pressing QWE over and over while healing herself and everyone around her to full with locket passive the entire game, keeping up all 3 auras full time with zero micro required.

Or Twitch outraging turrets with ulti, and shooting them down without a creepwave.

-_-

Why are you increasing bans to 10 in Season 7?

The answers are slightly different depending on whether you’re talking about the regular player experience or the pro experience, so I’ll answer both. Fortunately this was one of those situations where the change still makes sense for both sides, even though the goals are a little different.

For pro, the primary reason is to increase champion diversity, largely for the sake of the viewer experience. We think the game is more exciting when diversity is higher, assuming it is possible to achieve higher diversity without sacrificing overall game health. A secondary benefit is to hopefully create a more strategic and interesting champ select. Teams can try and build particular comps, while trying to shut down particular comps for the other side, which we think will be fun to watch (more on this in just a second).

For regular play, the primary reason is player agency. In the current design, some players get to pick first and some players get to ban. But we think most players (especially when they queue solo) just want to shut down whatever is most annoying in their lane (or whatever seems “overpowered” in the moment). Ten bans just happens to give every player the opportunity to ban something. Diversity is a secondary benefit we hope to achieve. However, we don’t realistically think we will get much more strategy to champ selection in regular play (except possibly for larger premades) since as I said, most players just want to ban their lane/power. I don’t mean to imply that regular players aren’t thinking strategically. It’s just a different environment than in pro, where teams not only play together regularly, but even suspect what strategies their rivals may choose.

ok so "player agency" probably isn't what the OP seems to think it is to begin with.

Its not just interactivity but more about just giving people something to do or think about.

riot be like: "there is a delta in the clunkiness of agency, so we're giving them some love"

deadlychuck1/22/2017, 12:49:16 AM3 votes

Because only once some aspect of the game has been completely utterly and undeniably fucked up by them so hard, will they ever address it.

It's been so far removed by the release of champions which have completely rounded kits with no gaps that the champions who are lacking answers in their kit are often faced against full teams of champions which they don't have answers to, and which answer all of their utility.

LeeSin Thresh Yasuo Ekko Camille Darius Rengar Riven Jayce Zed

It's pretty straight forward what riot fucks up with. They don't give enough value, in terms of kit costs, to skills which offer mobility and are general in usage (e.g. each of thresh's abilities can be used offensively or defensively, yet are as powerful as tools which are exclusively one like blitzhook) so they get all of this utility without actually detracting from their core strengths.

Did that post make sense to you after you reread it?

Are there Cho changes on PBE? What the heck do Camille's skins or her lore have to do with Gameplay?

Call me crazy but I think there's something that reveals a champion's location when they're invis. Call me crazy but I think FoW gives everyone the chance to, effectively, behave like an invis champion. Call me crazy but I think the few champions who have invisibility left are melee champions, and as such, inherently kite-able.

When I play a champion with skillshots against Kat. Do I just spam my skillshots to waveclear and laugh in her face? Do I predict she will dash to her dagger and throw it there?

VoraciousX1/21/2017, 10:52:31 PM2 votes

I love how you talk about being unable to hit Katarina with a skillshot despite knowing exactly where she's gonna pop up next. Just because you have to wait for the first move doesn't mean you can't land a skillshot on her. I'd also like to mention stealth units. You claim that being unable to interact with stealth is completely unfair(when you actually can interact with them), and yet when for example an Akali uses her W, she' literally a sitting duck waiting to die if her stealth is revealed. Even with a sweeper you can destroy her when she Ws. A lot of stealth champions have easy ways to be detected and interacted with. Camille Is kind of BS but not for the reasons you're complaining about(also her true damage isn't as much as a Cho ultimate as there's more AP than there is AD and the base damage is a lot higher, in fact Camille's Q has no base damage, unless you count her AD as base). She's BS because she's basically not what her class identifies as. They say she's a duelist but she isn't a 1v1 champion(she CAN 1v1 fairly I suppose, but it's more optimal to just do as follows), more of a 2v1 champion. You wait for your jungler to come, then ult them and they have no way to get away. Or if you're the jungler you can instantly make ganks successful. It's a little ridiculous.
