Can we stop abusing the word abuse?

Shyvana doesn't "abuse" on-hit items. She uses them. She is built to scale with them. She is an on hit champion.

ADCs don't abuse crit items, they use them, they are designed to function on them.

Darius doesn't abuse BC, he is designed to build it, he is designed to use it.

Assassins aren't "abusing" lethality items. The items are just too strong. Assassins are intended to use them.

Abuse cases are things like Tank Ekko when he abuses his kit in combination with certain items to make a toxic gameplay pattern. Abuse cases are the current issues with Lethality + BC on Miss Fortune. They were not intended and create gameplay and balance problems.

Stop throwing "abuse" in your post as a way to make it seem worse. That is just like the people who say "free" a lot. "Ashe gets free permaslows", on no, trust me, she pays for it in her power budgeting.

Stop using word abuse to make your posts look cooler and your arguments "stronger". It doesn't work on anybody with a brain.

Exactly. That's an example of abuse. Another example would be Ezreal and Runeglaive or item 3025 or Fiora with item 3748 item 3071 item 3742 item 3065 item 3111 item 3026

I'm 99% sure a hyper mobile ADC with high range and crazy good poke shouldn't have an item that has item 3025 65 Armor.

It's been allowed to exist for a long time despite IBG being one of the most core Ezreal builds. On top of that, IBG build has a clear tradeoff of doing significantly less damage and having extremely weak early game, since all the offensive item he gets early is Sheen and sometime Pickaxe that builds into Muramana/Manamune.

IBG doesn't give much offensive power when built on ADCs. Maybe on tanks, but not ADCs.

I see it as catch potential for Ez. Especially since his Q has super long range and moves quite fast. It also procs on hit effects too. So if you get hit by a pencil width bullet train of a spell from 1150 units away and get slowed by item 3025 that results in a death, don't cry about it.

Originally it might have been an abuse case, but both Ezreal and the item are now balanced around Ezreal pretty much always buying the item so it is no longer an abuse case because he is now designed to use it.

Actually you see a lot of Ezreals go with Trinity Force nowadays. It's a pretty even split, with the more snowbally Ez players picking Trinity Force and the utility ones going IBG.

Well I always thought she was a Skirmisher (same class as Riven Yasuo Ekko ) and supposed to go item 3074 item 3156 item 3071 item 3053 , specifically no Titanic.

In all seriousness; I don't think there's any illusions about the fact that mages were abusing item 3116 last season even though, technically speaking, almost every mage in the game could synergize with the item rather well. Abuse cases are not entirely dictated by whether or not the champion is designed to synergize with certain items or mechanics. Irelia was meant to be an assassin upon her release, and she transitioned from that into one of the game's stapple top-laners. By your definition, that is because she abused tanky itemization, but she is now recognized as a bruiser. By my own thought, I'd argue that Yasuo abuses crit items because he breaks the rules regarding how characters are meant to scale with these purchases in spite of how he was designed to be a crit-user from the start.

Lethality is currently being abused because it is broken. Therefore every character using it is an abuser regardless of their intended synergy with it.

Wouldn't say so. Lethality is intendet to help ad-casters,,wether ranged OR melee. And even as a generall option for ADs, i think there is nothing wrong with lethality beeing used. it's pretty obvious that any champ that scales off AD and does mostly physical damage will like those items. It only becomes an issue if there are no meaningfull enough tradeoffs compared to the intendet crit builts. However, even now you can see that any lethality adx that doesn't snowball has some issues comeing back, and mostly huge issues burning through tanks. With the PBE nerfs, lethality will probably have a clear enough tradeoff, sacrificeing tank shredding and lategame dps for early-mid power. And if it stays to potent late/vs tanks, the main issue is the way it stacks with LW items, not lethality on it's own.

Yeah, Jhin always seemed like a special case to me - while a lot of classic ADC items can feed him due to his passive, he's always going to be open to somewhat unique or assassin-like builds. I like the flavor of him as a ranged assassin, too.

imo AD casters don't abuse lethality even if they're ranged. The problem is that they tend to have too reliable autos.

tbh Crit Zed used to be a thing. Death Mark, use the combo, get a crit AA or two, back out. Even if you don't land the full combo, you had a decent chance at killing your target.

Agency is a good word. That said people use it wrong.

People should ask. Do I, the player, have clear control over whether kit my succeeds or fails, and am I rewarded and punished as such? Yes? Then it has agency. No? Then it doesn't.
