So here's how to counter Anivia:

Since Origen demolished TSM, I expect to see a large influx on "Anivia OP/Annoying" when people start to play her. So here is how you counter her:

Counterpick

Pick someone who outscales her. Anivia likes a slower game, so pick someone who can play to that. Who outscales Anivia? Karthus. The answer is always Karthus. Orianna and Azir are also good. Pick someone who won't let her reach her late game. Fizz, LeBlanc, Zed, pretty much any assassin really. Scaling lane bullies are also good choices. Pick someone who doesn't care about her slows. This means champions with lots of gapcloser or can ignore cc, champions like Irelia, Yi, or Vi. This is more for non-midlaners. Don't pick champions who have to run at her. If you pick someone who needs a Sivir to normally do their job, you're going to have a bad time.

Counterbuild Pretty straight foward. Build MR and Tenacity. Aegis is a good choice due to it's AoE armor. Hexdrinker is good since she has single target burst. Merc Treads give MR and Tenacity.

Counterplay: Deny her blue. Anivia is way better when she has blue, even when she has RoA and Tear. Don't let her have blue. Get in her face. Don't let her have an easy lane. She scales very well, and she's rather happy when she can sit back and just free farm. Gank her. She's immobile and dependent on gold, so 1 or 2 good ganks can really set her back. CC her. She's all squish, her ult is channeled, immobile, everything about her makes her vulnerable to cc. Dodge her Q. This is the most dangerous part of her kit, as there is a slow, stun, and a good amount of damage on this skill. It also allows double damage on the E. However, it is also pretty slow. Remember, dodge this left or right of it, as it has a long range and you probably won't be able to outrun it.

Hopefully, this helps with the Anivia spike I'm predicting.

Anivia is too hard to play imo

Typically the best counter to Anivia imo, is to actually apply any pressure at all to the lane.

Xpeke had no flash for a large chunk of that game and it never got abused.

How does one Anivia. I bought her to try her out (she looked fun,) but I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO.

You literally press E to win.

I doubt it's that easy, I know it isn't I've tried that. xD

Oh yeah I forgot, you press E and then R while E is flying.

It takes some time to get used to her, but with a couple of games it's not too hard.

In lane, I like to play her as far back as I can. If I am csing, then I am at max range. I also like to poke with Q while csing. If you can follow it up with E, great, otherwise let it be. You also want to get the double damage on Q; let it pass through them before stunning. Her R-E combo does some really nice damage. R and W you just need experience to learn where to place them for teamfights.

Build wise, I like to go RoA > Seraph > Deathcap > VS > situational (mostly GA for the 3 lives), with boots and trinkets built when I can. Runes, I like MPen, Armor, MR/Lvl, and MS/AP quints. Masteries I like to go 21/3/6 or 21/6/3, prioritizing MS.

Warmog is the go to tank item for anivia ... since it literaly gives you 2x hp way better then 3 lives

But 3 lives is troll enough to be worth.

Bonus points for Zilean on the team.

Gotta correct you on some stuff

Le blanc is countered hard by anivia. You can fu-ck up her dash midair. Not to mention that anivia doesnt have enough resources to kill you twice on top of having quite long cooldowns beside ultimate. There is a reason why Le bl has pathetic winrate against anivia

Picking autoattack reliant champion into anivia is stupid. Anivia can also block fizz q.. Plus she stuns and does dmg while you are stuned. If a champion does dmg to fizz while the fizz is stuned then trickster isnt that effective . Fizz does great against champions who are insanely skillshot relliant thats not anivia

Oriana/karthus/azir do work against him. Though Karthus ll mostlikely get a bit bullied

Irelia is still not that great vs anivia . You do realise The attackspeed means alot to irelia tenacity doesnt mean anything vs anivia ultimate. Irelia is good against squishy champions not against a champions who builds rod of ages and has 2 lifes . I am not saying That anivia counters irelia all I am saying I would certainly not suggest irelia into anivia

Yi works vs her mainly because she wont be able to react .. to the burst besides he is quite hard to stun though he is not good enough vs her to be a counterpick however I experienced this matchup if your team is unskilled yi as a noobstomper/a champion who is hard to handle will delete everyone and you wont be able to stop him with anivia

Honestly I doubt anything melee specially jugernauts (As you have said) counters anivia. As For vi ? ehm Vi is lockdown for hypercarries like azir would not recommend

How to counter anivia

  • Push the wave get the raptors .. and repeat (Seriously anivia has pathetic waveclear and high mana cost you should do this even after level 6)
  • Outroam her .. Seriously Anivia has no mobility and pathetic movement speed
  • Gank her early game .. She is really vulnerable to champions such as elise
  • Steal her blue as you have said
  • Avoid teamfights in the jungle since she can cut you off
  • Run cleanse/barrier if she is good champion against you
  • Anivia has quite limited zone cycle (THE w range generaly) its easy to play around it even if you are countered

**And btw I doubt you ll see any NURF ANIVIA THREADS **

I just pick Lux and out range her. You'll survive my burst kill the first time, but remember little bird. My ult is on a sub 30 sec CD.
