Congratulations CertainlyT

You finally made a champion that should be fun to play as, with, and against.

For those of you who don't know, he is apparently the head of the Graves rework (or at least the guy talking about it):

Passive: AA's are now Buckshot, using an ammo system "Shells". Every 2 AA's, he needs to reload, ~2 seconds. Each pellet applies on-hit effects, but only once per target. The first pellet on a target does 0.75-1.10 AD, with following pellets doing 33% of that. Crits fire double pellets, and IE crits fire 10. It now can be intercepted and range is reduced. Q: Fires a charge that explodes in a T-shape. Think Vel'Koz Q. W: More or less the same, but no vision at all for those inside. Only slows at the beginning. E: Still a dash, gives him True Grit, another shell, and a AA reset. True Grit can be kept up by AAing stuff every 4 seconds. R: Now knocks back Graves and has an execute.

In short, Graves's shotgun is actually going to feel like a shotgun.

Well done CertainlyT. Someone give this man a cigar.

"Well done CertainlyT. Someone give this man a cigar."

YOU GIVE CertainlyT A CIGAR BUT Graves CAN'T EVEN GET ONE!?

Well done CertainlyT. Someone give this man a cigar.

Wait, CertainlyT or Graves? D:

That last sentence nailed it.

Wouldn't it be awesome if ONLY when Graves was reloading, he was able to melee attack. He could kick, that way he can still farm. That or give him a passive where if he is melee attacked while he is reloading, he takes the damage from the attack, but then kicks the opponent back shortly (not far) and slows them for half a second. Also give that passive a cooldown. (idk how long it should be)

not a fan of nearly ~2 second reload time early game to aa, early game that can lead to a lot of missed cs. I'd rather that they give a fallback that while reloading he can still last hit in melee range at least that gives a chance to keep last hitting

overall a fan of what sounds like his rework, just thinking that early game last hitting is gonna be problematic.

I played around on PBE and found out jungle graves isn't half bad based simply on his early clear, his passive knocks back monsters and his Q works well with walls. His E gives more armor and mr for the camps and he has a pretty quick combo: AA > Q > AA > E > AA.

Not sure if I'm upvoting because you're able to see through blind hatred and recognize a job well done, or for that last line. Not sure if it matters.

I like both, but i'm worried the reload mechanic will screw with his ability to ADC... (Not that duo bot is going to stay much longer I feel like)

Should change the shell system to only work against champions, and still allow graves to do regular autos while his shells are on CD. Have Grave's regular autos do reduced damage to champion or something so he is more reliant on Shells to trade.

Well as of right now he's absurdly over powered. Just tested him out on PBE and his poke and dueling capabilites are a bit too high. He's like a release Lucian on steroids right now.

You people are pathetic. This change hasn't even come out and you're already celebrating. How much you wanna bet this guy made death's dance and was involved with the removal of mana pots.

Maybe, just maybe, CertainlyT is the kind of the designer not made to build things from scratch like new champions or full reworks but instead, to tweak things that already exist into something better?

Even tho Graves will be significantly different now, he's still going to be the burly brutal meathead marskman that can deal with dives and blows up people from close. This rework just improves that feeling

MysticFlameHaze10/30/2015, 5:46:11 AM1 votes

crybabies about the champs he makes lol

HentRex10/30/2015, 5:52:54 AM1 votes

Caitlyn also looks amazing. Just saying. This round of reworks looks great in all regards.

anyone else feel like the PBE complaints about graves feel very much the same complaints they did for morde... "it's gonna be unplayable. He will get dominated by the ranged champions"

Zelnorack10/30/2015, 9:07:27 AM1 votes

He has a double barrel with 6 cylinders. My only complaint is that the math doesn't add up.

I can't wait to play the new Graves.

Count Lieberkuhn10/30/2015, 9:41:45 AM1 votes

I suggested the 'deal more damage the closer Graves is' idea back when Graves got released and was OP, although admittedly it didn't have the buckshot idea.

That being said, I am hesitant about this rework. Primarily because CertainlyT is at the helm, and I can't remember the last time he did something that people were happy with. Reloading on autoattacks seems weak, and will severely gate his effectiveness in prolonged fights. He seems now like someone who gets up in your face, deals tons of damage very quickly and if his target survives he won't have much else to do. Like an assassin really. This will probably be very oppressive in lane, particularly when paired with a high CC support like Leona, but will be weak in teamfights.

Maybe I'm wrong. History dictates that Graves will be ridiculously OP and unfun to play against, but we can all hope that CertainlyT will have learned his lesson this time (something many of us have been saying since Zed or Yasuo).

CertainlyT is a fine designer. All of Riot's designers are good at their job. After all, this is one of the most popular games ever. Do some champions need a lot more tuning than others after release? Sure. However, I will say that for a good while I've been happy with the uniqueness of the new champions and their mechanics - even if it makes balancing difficult. I'd rather have novel ideas as perfect balance is something that will be impossible to achieve. Even checkers doesn't have perfect balance (first move OP?).

TLDR: CertainlyT and all Riot designers are good designers.

RetroRage9610/30/2015, 2:34:04 PM1 votes

I don't think item 3031 should be so central to his kit. The balance team talks about item and build diversity but then gives this reworked champion a skill that is directly influenced by a single item. I'm not saying that nobody would every buy IE on Graves without that passive, but I think that the pellets that are there will do enough damage alone.

Champions should not have specific item interactions - that's just silly.

As silly as goggles.

TheRakkun10/30/2015, 3:06:30 PM1 votes

Isn't he going to be pushing lane like Azir with this?

Axxlon10/31/2015, 6:41:32 PM1 votes

Wow, Certainlyt is really acting like a big baby in some of those responses.

The first reply was just somebody (most likely a prior graves main) just expressing how they didn't like the changes etc., and he replies all sarcastically-passive-aggressive like "Welp, better scrap it then!".

Like seriously? You are COMPLETELY changing the way a character works, and you're actually going to get butthurt over one person expressing dislike over it? Jesus christ, grow up. -_-
