Some of you more experienced players, what do you do when your clearly outmatched in your lane?

Example I was playing Nautilus top lane and was facing a Lee Sin who clearly knew what he was doing. before minion spawn I thought I would test him and see how we stood against each other. He totally shredded me I barely got a quarter of his health. I exhausted him and popped a healing potion flashed away and then first blood. I then put out in team chat if anyone else was able to contain him to switch me lane, no response.

Decided to play it safe and only fight close or near tower I am level 2 he's 3 fighting under tower I engage to get tower help which I do again he shredded me again even with tower help, I was able to get him to half and got under tower for safety he jumped into tower killed me and jumped out, again I ask for help from team no response.

My question is I was clearly out matched and even playing it safely didn't work what would some of you more experienced players do in a situation like this?

Um. First thing is don't fight level 1 with nautilus, especially against a strong duelist like Lee.

Second: if you are clearly outmatched or behind, you do exactly what you did: you just okay safe. You have the upper hand late game against Lee, as you'll become pretty unkillable while he starts to fall off

You have to know your champion and your enemy champion well. Nautilus isn't known for the strongest level 1, while lee has a pretty strong level 1. From the sounds of it, you played too agressive before minions even showed which costed you. Nautilus' biggest strengths in lane are his CC and his ability to do damage through the minion wave with E.

Did you try to CC lee wjen hejumped you under tower? Your auto will root him,, which should give your tower time to kill him.

Consider items.

Instead of rushing ap or atk, get armor if tank. You wont deal shit, but it can make u scale ever so slightly.

Seems so simple, but still works. I was getting rekt by ranged champs while i was top Trundle in terms of cs. I took loads of poke. Got Corrupting potion, and rushed defensive items. Only atk item i got was sheen.

Eventually i outraded. I even dodged skillshots, predicted mpvements and patterns. Out killed and out cs-ed foe.

Stay calm. Think of it as learning experience. Use tab a lot, look at their build order.

Ive recently gone negative or barely even as Trundle, but still getting A+ or S- due to disruptions and scaling back into game through building defensive with minor atk and exposing patters and exploiting them.

When behind as ADC, get 2 atk items and boots. Then build defensive. Maw or Sterak's. Or a life steal item. Not all defensive items need to be finished, stats can help to some extent.

APC i build mostly CDR to be a second supp if u will, that does dmg (not tons, but still deals it). And assists or csing gets you back into it.

There's a jungler for a reason.

Try to avoid fighting, play safe, stay under your tower, and ask your teammates for help. If none of those things work and you're still being killed, consider going to farm the jungle and letting him take your tower. The gold from the jungle will help you stay relevant, and once the tower is down you'll have a safer time. You can also try to roam a bit and gank other lanes while he's busy top, sometimes that can help you get back into the game.

thanks for the responses to my questions very helpful. to answer some questions I did try him before minions even spawned to see what I was dealing with, I got rekt bad. I exhausted and used a pot during this encounter and I had my e skill. I feel like I should have been able to do a little more then just get shredded. I will know next time. while under the tower the second death, he dived in I did get a couple aa and an e on him with tower help and it didn't not a lot more then when I tried to trade with him. I think on the second the minions were focused on each other and not what we were doing.

firstly, stay behind your minions while fighting lee. if he lands a q, he will almost definitely follow up. his q does % missing health damage so staying low in lane is also not a wise idea. if he lands an E on you (where he slams the ground) and you're trying to run away he will slow you, which will also make it easier for him to land a Q. if i recall correctly his ultimate also does % max health damage so don't forget to build armor. as for naut specifically, don't try to fight him until level 3. your damage combo should go something like auto attack + w (activating W resets your auto timer and adds an auto attack steroid) + E, and then keep hitting him until your shield runs out, because that's when your auto attack steroid runs out too. you can also stop his q by throwing out a q in his direction and if it hits him it will stop the 2nd q damage. you can also damage him with your E from a range to harass him, although don't spam it TOO much as it has better uses. just something to do when you have a lot of mana to spend. don't forget to run grasp of the undying on naut too if you don't already. hope I helped. I used to play naut top a lot and lee sin was someone I actually fought a lot.
