Whats up with reporting someone??

In almost every game i have been in there's been some idiot yelling to report this player or that player and then asking everyone else on the team to do this also. What is up with it? I have been the one this has been aimed at when i had done nothing wrong. I have also witnessed it happening to someone else on my team when they did nothing wrong. what comes of this? If a toxic player can report someone else and convince the rest of the team to report them also without good reason can the player that did nothing wrong get banned for real?? Do the games admin have any way to go back and look at chat or replays of the game? If they can why can't they ban someone who reported someone for no reason or will they?

For instance i was playing Sona support and a Darius was jumping into 1 v 4 and then yelling at me because he died and saying i was bad support and he was going to report me. How stupid is that? I did jump into the first one gave him a heal and damage shield and then gave him a speed boost so he could escape, i thought he just got caught and i was trying to help him get away but we both died. Then i noticed he kept doing it over and over and was dieing over and over and getting mad at me because i didn't die with him how can anyone even think this is a reportable offense for me? he put in team chat that everyone should report me and then after the game he put it in chat for the other team to report me and went on and on ending in him telling me to suck his ****. How can i be reported for this and if so can they look at everything and see i did nothing wrong or worse case scenario can they ban me because he convinced 9 others to report me?

You can get reported literally every single game, and provided you did nothing wrong, nothing will ever come of it. Just make sure you don't rise to the bait and respond to them. Someone saying "Report X" can be reported, and will be punished, as it's harassment.

False reports get thrown out and will reduce the weight of those player's future reports. Multiple reports in a single match also don't get someone punished faster/easier, because punishment is calculater per match rather than per report.

Long story short; you don't have to worry about it if you've done nothing wrong.

First off: Nine reports have the same exact strength as one report. It just flags a match to be checked.

If you did nothing wrong it will be a false report and nothing will be held against you. No punishment chance either. Fishing for reports is actually considered a form of Harassment too due to how reports function. So that is reportable. I really hope you reported this player for what they did. No one wants to have someone like that in their games.

When i block someone, that means i will never have to play with them again right? My block list is getting pretty big. Is there a limit to how many players you can block?

yeah i'm not a big baby about things and i have a pretty thick skin so i hardly ever report anyone. I don't feel like i have enough knowledge of the game to tell someone they are playing badly. I know i have had some pretty bad games just making bad decisions or missing a skill or something stupid like that so if someone else is having a bad game i don't report them either i think that's just silly. I was in the military so someone cussing at me don't really bother me either. if i don't like someone i just block them and hope that means i never have to play with them again.

Fun fact, Riot has stated that they do not support nor encourage players asking other players to report someone. One report is as good as five, and asking others to report can often lead to you yourself being reported depending on your attitude of doing it.
