Jungleing questions for some of you more experienced junglers

I have been playing jungler for a couple months now and have ran across some questions I would like some answers to so that I can become a better jungler.

I play Amumu jg I build based on the opponents make up or at least try to. If they have a lot of tanks I try to build tanky, if they have a lot of magic damage I try to build magic resist and so on so forth. More often then not I am confused about ganking lanes.

In a lot of games I'm being asked to gank constantly early on but when I look at the map they have their lanes pushed all the way to the enemy tower which doesn't really leave me any room to gank. Then I get top calling for gank and bot calling for gank and I feel like I'm constantly running back and forth instead of csing and helping me get my items built for mid and late game.

My questions are should I be paying that much attention to the lanes calling for ganks or should I be building and ganking when I feel like I have an opportunity. Sometimes I feel forced to gank when I'm not ready or when I see clearly its not gonna go well for fear my team mates think I suck and will start talking shit about me. But when I try to gank and it fails like I knew it would anyway they still give me shit about it.

I feel like I have a good grasp on when and how I should gank. Should I just ignore my teammates and do what I think is best or should I listen to them and risk failed ganks?

How do some of you more experienced junglers handle it.

What's more important? For me to get my items built or gank lanes?

I have a method to my madness and it is as follows I try to clear my jungle as quick as possible 1 st time. I can usually get gronk, then blue buff, I usually have about 3/4 health plus blue buff so I look for an early gank on the closest lane, then wolves, then the 4 things on the other side then red buff then back pick up my second item and then hit the rhinos then look for a gank on top, making my way back to bot thru river dropping wards and killing the little creatures in the river if they are there. back to gronk side and looking for a gank on bot. even if I don't have a gank at bot I show up just to let the enemy know im there and hopefully help my teammates with a fear advantage. then I just keep farming jungle as fast as I can and look for gank opportunities on the map. If I see a lane backing I will try to stay close to that lane and farm that cs until the player gets back so not to give the enemy time to push that lane.

Am I doing it right or is there something else I should be doing? Should I be forcing ganks?

There actually a joke that goes about, about how people constantly ask for ganks, but their lane is pushed. So some people are just stupid and you don't have to try and force a gank. I would probably focus on more of when you think would be a good time to gank. Also if someone is pushed up a lot, be sure to gank them. And if you have a team mate that is falling behind in lane, I would try to help him out. Also you want to make sure you are constantly farming throughout, that is where you get most of you gold. So what I personally recommend doing, and what I do, is just farm and whenever you are near a lane that can be ganked, gank it. And if some lanes want a gank or are having trouble, just hang around those areas farming, and gank when you can. Just make sure you aren't farming the whole game and never ganking. Just try to get it a happy medium and do what works best for you.

I play Amumu a bit, so here's what I usually do.

Start W, clear your 3 botside camps. Be sure to ward behind your buff to watch for invades. Get E at level 2. After clearing your 3rd camp, assess the situation. Which lanes are pushed? Which lane is being aggressive? If you see a good opportunity for a gank, take Q at level 3 and go for it (either the side lane closest to you or mid; don't run from blue side red buff to top lane). You don't need kill potential for a gank, but if you think you can get the enemy's flash, go for it. This'll make ganks later on a bit easier.

If you don't see a good gank, get a second level in E and continue clearing.

Go back, grab jungle item and Hunter's potion if you have the gold. Go back to the camp you started at, and clear again. After clearing one side, assess again. A successful gank doesn't always mean a kill, just a good trade. For example, if you gank bot and get some damage off, a flash, a heal, and an exhaust, while forcing them to recall, that's a success.

Just follow the pattern. Clear one side, assess. Clear one side, assess. Keep wards up, and only break this pattern if a lane specifically is pinging for a gank because they're already fighting someone or their lane is pushed to their tower. If they're pushed to the enemy tower, ignore them.

Now let's talk itemization. For Amumu, your build is very flexible. If you've got a few kills and are ahead, go the AP enchant with an IBG and maybe Rylai's and then tank. If your top and support are squishies, go Cinderhulk and tank.

When building AGAINST a lot of tanks, go Liandry's. Your W and the passive of Liandry's will shred them. Weave in autos to lower their MR. To build against AD heavy comps, look at the champions. Build Frozen Heart into attack speed comps like Yi, Jinx, Ashe, Caitlyn, Jax, Xin, etc. Build Randuin's into crit comps like Yasuo, Cait, Jinx, Sivir, Ashe, Tryndamere, etc. Build Deadman's into most other AD like Zed, Riven, Renekton, Talon, etc. To build against AP damage, you don't have too many choices but they do differ. For champions based in one ability to start a combo, i.e. Brand, Veigar, LeBlanc, go Banshee's. For champions with sustained damage like Malz, Ryze, Anivia, go Visage. For most others, go Abyssal. Boots are situational as well, but in general take Merc's into heavy AP or CC, and Tabi into AA heavy comps or AD. Swifties are decent too, but only when ahead. I would recommend Stalker's blade since most Bronze players won't utilize the vision from Poacher's.

A few extra tips:

get Sweeper as soon as you hit level 8-9. It'll let you take dragon safely.

When ganking after you're a bit tanky for a laner with damage, there's an easy way to dive. Go in for the gank, and if the get under tower before you kill them, just use everything you have and then retreat to the edge of the tower radius. You'll continue tanking tower, and your teammate can use all of their abilities for free without tower damage. Once they've used everything, you can leave radius. This only works when you're tanky enough to take a few tower hits though. It basically ensures that you don't both take enemy AoE damage, and that your teammate gets a clean 1v1 under tower while you tank it.

After a succesful gank in which you get a kill or the enemy recalls, push the lane. People may think you're taxing, but take my word on this. It makes it so the tower kills all the minions, and so the enemy misses out on gold. If you have enough time, take the tower too.

Here's an order of priority:

Nexus>Inhibitor>Baron>Turrets>Dragon>Kills

Always keep this in mind when forced to make a decision.

Overall, Amumu is a pretty team-reliant champ. If you duo with someone, he's great. However, in really low elo, it's best to just pick a champ to solo carry like Yi. Good luck climbing man.

Thanks guys for the help most of it I already do but I rely on my team and try to give them what they ask for sometimes it doesn't work and I get flamed anyway just seeing what some of you others do. I play Amumu because I like him and I feel like his kit is good for jg mid and end on the plus side he doesn't ever get banned like the yi's jax's and yasoe's. thanks fo rthe responses it has helped with the ganking question. also appreciate the other advice I'll try to go by it and see if that doesn't improve my game.
