"Bad" players climbing?

Does this season allow the less skilled to make the climb easier? I've seen quite a bit of players who were bronze / silver in S6 suddenly hitting gold / plat this season already. They don't even play that great in game. Does rank mean anything anymore?

No flame, it's a genuine question. I've barely hit plat last season, so I'm not the greatest by any means.

Depends on what you play.

My terrible hardstuck Plat Yasuo main friend just hit D4 playing support.

That would make sense to me because most mid players probably are more skilled then supports in general. So if he swapped lanes and just did what he always wanted supports to do, he would climb easier with way less effort.

I mean, if they are that bad on a regular basis they wouldn't be climbing though. they must be doing SOMETHING right.

I guess so, you got a point. I'm only seeing them play in one match where they play "bad" so yeah, ya got me there. But I've just seen so many jump tiers over their last season tier, so I couldn't help but ask.

It kinda is, because as long as you have an ADC that is good and none of your team decides to 1v5 suicide constantly they can climb.

Due to the new runes and some other changes there are some cheese champs that people are riding up. Whether is it a support or the few hypercarries. Then someone bans and picks their champs and they feed liek hell.

Yeah I've just seen some awful players that I've gone against, whether they were mid or top. They were just mechanically horrible and easily baited into bad situations. Sure, it's just one match that I've seen them play. In those matches they ended up feeding and being irrelevant, but sometimes rode the wave to victory as their bot lane just mopped up the entire map. I had to ask because there's NO WAY even a legit high gold / low plat would be doing some of the stuff I've seen.
