Font of Life: From rune to support item

The issue with Font of Life is its implementation. Marking someone to become a heal bot is cool, but when that heal is hardly noticeable and it's also competing with a bunch of more influential runes, I don't see a time where I'd be thinking to myself "MAN, I need Font of Life rn".

However, tuning the effect to fit on a support item, either as an active or a passive, and implementing it in that space might do some good. Then you can replace the rune with a new rune that's actually worth considering.

Its definitely more than noticeable, especially when paired with item 3504 and item 3050

Throughout the game I see it doing a lot more healing than some keystones I use even do damage / shielding.

yet its best on champ who are tanks and have cc which typically those type of champs arent buildint item 3504

you would be better off with item 3107 over item 3504 cuz unless you have more then 1 champ that can utilize the passive of its not optimal any more.

but using font of life as a tank you losing out on demolished or shield bash ( if you have a shield ) its clearly the worst rune in this row if not the entire tree.

Its one of the best runes in the entire tree...

take item 3504 item 3050 on tahm kench then ult / cancel and you proc font of life constantly with your AOE slow along with getting an attack speed buff with ardent censor allowing you to stack up faster..

Also font of life will heal for more than a 90% shield tahm kench autoing someone with shield bash if your teammates know how to hit someone who has a mark on them.

so you are having to build 2300g and 2250 g items to make the rune effective only after you use ult and cancel it ?

and that makes it good?

when shield bash is good from the level you have a shield could be lvl 1, or demolish good at any time you can get to a turret and use it as long its not on cool down which can grant you and your team gold from plates and getting turrets

The rune is already effective by itself, it makes the ITEMS effective. You've got it backwards.

And if you take e lvl 1 on tahm kench you are just a walking auto attacker...

Take q at lvl 1 with font of life and youll heal teammates more than shield bash would do damage...

never pointed out tahm per say. just in general.

and tahm can only proc ardent with the ult right? not on devour?

and he can only the font of life on his Q ?

This is the issue. Demolish helps rake in that sweet turret gold, and shield bash is good for anyone that fights with shields in top lane. No top lane tank wants Font of Life. It's a very utility-oriented rune that's largely focused on the early game. I think FoL is interesting, but it's hard to argue for it as a rune.

I mean, if you're a tank support, you probs go Demolish to help with the plates, and if you're an enchanter you probs go Resolve secondary, then go Second Wind/Revitalize or Bone Plate/Revitalize. There's always a reason to not need Font of Life's 5 healing an AA. It's just not enough to bother as far as I see.

FoL is better as a rune than item. People bitched enough about Ardent especially when all you needed to counter it was 800g on the ADC. So yeah, when 99.99% of the player base is too stupid to buy an 800g item once you'll bet it will happen again.

Well, the issue with Censer was that it was the on-hit healing, the bonus damage, the attack speed, AND the stats (Censer has some pretty damn good stats) all in one package. A new item with a FoL passive could be dedicated to the passive, and thus won't be as overloaded.

I mean again the only thing remotely strong was the AS. The healing and damage was like 30~50 spread out over 3 hits or something. Now it's a flat scaling per hit over 6s. Which frankly is way better lol. You see where I'm getting at? People just cry OP because they want to say it is not because they know it is.
