So Urgot got his only defensive tool gutted, meanwhile...

Riven is running around with 600 shield every 3 seconds on a dash.

Yasuo gets a free 550 shield just for moving around and in the late game, the shield recharges every 3 seconds.

Yes we better nerf the Urgot shield, the one that has low base stats and only shielded for 30% of his bonus HP and the shield that self slows him down. They cut his low base stats in half and cut the scaling to 15%.

Rito’s tactics is:

If a champion doesn’t sell much skins or make much profit for the company, then they nerf them.

If a champion sells a lot of skins and is a popular champion, then Rito have proved they will keep them broken on purpose because no bias.

Urgot has been absolutely busted beyond any of the champions mentioned.

I disagree. Irelia, Kai'sa, Akali, Riven, etc. ran around absolutely broken for the entirety of their existence last season and only saw minuscule nerfs at best. Lo and behold, Akali had K/DA and Prestige edition and was selling her original skins well because not many people had them before the rework, Irelia is the same story, Kai'sa same story, and Riven similar to Yasuo has a base of one tricks who claim she's not busted when everyone knows she is.

Meanwhile Urgot was strong for sure, but no one played him and then he made the sin of appearing in a pro game and not being popular to the rest of the playerbase, so of course he gets the long gun of the law for his transgression.

I’m sorry but I can’t agree with your statement at all. Last season saw top lane triangle exist in which the 3 viable top laners being urgot Aatrox and irelia.

These top pane picks completely outclassed all other picks on so many levels. His nerfs are absolutely justified especially considering his low skill floor.

Long gun of the law? This champ has been S++ tier since before worlds (for pro play). It was justified. In fact Riot were generous to let him stay so strong for so long.

Every top matchup that gave Urgot a minimum problem has been gutted while he didn't get a single nerf. It's just his time now.

Also Yasuo is getting nerfed so you can shut the freak up about that.

I always intended "gutting" as giving serious damage to a champion/character gameplay be it to bring him from OP to balanced or from OP to UP. And all the changes that happene din the top lane heavily impacted the matchup at hand.

Sure the term is stronger than needed but I hope ppl can comprehend that a bit of hyperbole doesn't hurt this argument.

DuskDaUmbreon10 votes

Nice to see we're still using the same conspiracy theory to make arguments, rather than reading the patch notes (including the PBE) and actually using statistics (such as Urgot having been rather strong for a while, whereas Riven only really just hit the point of actually being OP and Yasuo was literally just nerfed)

I dont think riven can build full tank and execute a champ at pretty much 50% hp with just ign and r

xDogMeatx4 votes

deaths dance is all the tank she needs spear then cleaver are the HP factors with guardian angel if she bleeds out.

Nyarlathοtep4 votes

Sorry but if an urgot is capable of killing you with an ignite and r from 50% hp then urgot is at no fault. His ulti executes from 25%. The rest was from ignite.

Yets42402 votes

it literally cannot hurt you if you are .000000000000000000001% above 25%. No idea who the fuck was stupid enough to downvote you repeatedly for entirely correct information.

SHIELD STRENGTH: 95 / 125 / 155 / 185 / 215 (+ 100% bonus AD)

COOLDOWN: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6

While Urgot did need nerfing... Riven remaining untouched is a yikes.

Numbers on Riven's shield are absolutely disgusting.

FOR JUSTICE6 votes

Rivens is absolutely busted, but to be fair thats cause she is only just getting into that busted tier, and yasuo just got nerfed.

In urgots case he literally had no bad matchups.

rivens sells 1 skin per patch urgot not haha

Riven gets a lot more attention simply cuz she has the playboy bunny outfit. lol

You know what is worst ? Urgot Use mana, Doesn't scale into late game only mid game due to his level 11 passive, isn't able to use the abusive shield and free cc CD reduction from item 3053 , he was good only in lane phase and games ended early that why he was good cause game is shorter and that riot fault for the shorter gameplay not urgot fault.

Meanwhile Yasuo and Riven suppose to be late game champions yet they so powerful early, they have no mana, they can duel, assassin and tank while being hyper mobility carries and it cancer.

Honestly, at this point they can simply remove the shield and replace it with something else. I can't even tell that I have a shield anymore, since it is gone the very moment I press the button.

0 Hogapu3 votes

can people stop being THAT missleading on urgot's W ? yeah SURE it gives him a shield, and this very part got nerfed, right but can you stop forgetting the spell also deals ( A LOT ) of damage ? xd

urgot literally had no bad match up on toplane, he deserved a nerf, stop with your "bias to bad skin seller" bullshit already

Chembaron Yamada9 votes

Lol, funny that you are the one misleading.

The W by itself did absolutely no damage whatsoever. All the damage comes from his passive, the shotgunknees, which have a seperated cooldown. If they are on CD, his W doesn't even tickle.

0 Hogapu2 votes

That's like saying, Katarina shunpo deals no damage : look it only deals 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 (+ 50% AD) (+ 25% AP) !

I mean, no, you can't say this. Abilities are not separated. His W lets him proc his passive much easier, so yeah it does damage.

btw : 12 (+ 20 / 24 / 28 / 32 / 36% AD) damage per attack, and he does 3 attacks/sec for 5 seconds. I wouldn't call a maximum of 540% ad ratio bad to the point that it deals "absolutely no damage whatsoever".

Chembaron Yamada5 votes

540% AD ratio yeah.... over 5 seconds. That means it is the same damage like he would deal just by auto attacking 5,4 times in 5 seconds. So just slightly more than 1 time per second.

1 auto attack per second is really not impressive, especially at lvl 13, which is the level he maxes his W.

0 Hogapu2 votes

so we still have a spell that -does ( a lot of ) damage -shields him -procs his passive -reduces slows (even if yeah it adds one to him)

pretty sure my point stands still. this spell is overbearing, thats a fact. They nerfed one component of it, wow!

Xilixer1 votes

Honestly Urgot's old W was much better than his new one. His W really doesn't add damage and just gives him a clearer view of which shotgun knee is ready. The shield is barely mentionable and he slows himself.

Meanwhile his old W shielded for a lot more and made his Q and auto's slow his opponent. His old Q was MUCH better than his new one.

Yets42401 votes

And you cannot even aim or target who you want to, and they can just walk out of range while you self slow yourself and have barely 300 range to begin with. It would be like bitching about Garen's 399 + 532% total AD ratio (per target) hit by his entire spin. Only, spread out over literally twice as long, and not AoE.

xDogMeatx4 votes

isnt his Q skillshot dependent? i mean thats the same arguement of saying why isnt ezreal iceborn isnt nerfed it costs too little mana yet somehow gives him tankyness and does damage for no logic at all? there should be downsides for a champ except when someone buys "that one item" they null all weaknesses they have. mana should equal the power of a skill. it should be on hit if this is the mana cost. mana= power. if the q costed 150 mana at start it better half HP a level 1 target or almost kill them due to its skillshot nature.

You can't say Urgot didn't need a nerf, he could even beat some of his counters

Minimac20001 votes

I'm not op and he deserved it, but they probably went a bit too far

Bârd1 votes

Yasuo doesn't charge a shield nearly that fast.

Late game, he either needs to move 4600 units or press R.

Unless there so happens to be 10 E targets right there at a convenient location, he won't be able to get his shield back that quickly.

BobaFlautist1 votes

Yeah. It turns out "Ranged Juggernaut" wasn't the easiest champion concept to balance.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

They need to give it AD scaling so he has a reason to actually build AD past Black Cleaver.

AD Urgot was never an issue, it was always BC -> Tank Urgot who invalidate his mobility issue by rushing RG second item then building full defense all while not taking much of a hit to his damage (due to % health passive and 25% health execute ult).

Also his Q is far too reliable now. 90% of the time that ability is going to land. It needs to be nerfed to a middle ground between release Urgot and current Urgot.

They also need to hurry up and special case him to be able to utilize Steraks.

Notice how one of these is a tank? A tank that punishes almost any melee champ by being tanky, having a shield, CC, and good damage?
