Support gold gen is at an impass

Coin's gold gen is WAY too good, honestly. I can outcash (or nearly do so) my fellow laners just by using coin way too easily. It's crazy thinking I'm a few hundred gold behind fellow teammates that have 200 cs more than me...when all I did was walk around collecting coins.

However, this brings me to ask the question: Is the gold gen for the other two starting items too low? I get that supports aren't supposed to cash out like laners, but it kinda sucks knowing you won't be making nearly enough dough to ever see a late game/full build unless the game's like 50 minutes+. I think it's silly that I'm hitting full or almost entirely full builds this easily by like the 30 minute mark in any game I do pretty good in, but at the same time I can compare it to how it was before when 2 items, vision, and boots was "ballin" while everyone else sorta sped past you.

So here's my question: Should the other two items be buffed up a lil bit in the income department in tandem to coin being nerfed, or should we just nerf coin down to the level of the other two gold gen items?

I think that the gold gen should be increased somewhat for item 3302 and item 3303, but I don't think that they should be to the level of item 3301. I do think that coin is too strong right now. (Almost every game that I get coin vs Relic/Spell I have at least double their gold gen.) I think that the gold should drop somewhat and the mana should either decrease or stay the same. I do think that the raw stats of coin need to be lower (In general) because it is an item that is meant to be passive early and increase gold gen for later in the game. item 3302 Relic shield is meant for tanky champs that need to sustain after trades/all-ins. item 3303 Spelltheifs should be for mages that want to the enemy bot lane with spell casts. item 3301 Coin should be for (As mentioned before) a safe and passive lane to scale to late.

I'm usually full build on Taric at around 35 minutes. That doesn't seem slow to me.

The coin actually nets you the least gold of the three, when maxed out. It is more difficult, but if the support has zero downtime on his relic shield or spellthief's edge they net more gold than someone who just picks up every coin. http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Gold_income

Yes but this is on zero downtime, which may be easy in lane for most champions, but out of lane when a support roams from bot to mid or is placing wards they aren't procing these things. Often times supports don't get relic stacks off mid to late game anyways. Not to mention mid game its easy for supports to join in on the ARAM(which is supported by the higher mass of tanks due to stoneplate) and get gold that way from coin.

Coin path needs to not grant the bonus gold on assists is allThis alone can give so much gold mid to late game, and it gets a bit out of hand at times. Early game I personally think the mana is a bit excessive, but the item path really only needs a hit on the gold gen.

So you just don't play this game, then. That's fine, but let me inform you that coin gets the most gold out of the three.

your point in general is wrong cuz the supports make more money this season than ever in the past (probably double what they made in the early seasons like 2-3). however, coin gives the most gold while requiring the least interaction, and the mana regen is insane. it's the final nail in the coffin for damage supports. redemption ardent censer and locket make them virtually worthless (besides brand, he's the last mage support to have a positive winrate and theyre buffing only him but again i digress), and now they make less gold without kills (which they'll be flamed for taking). tanks are alright cuz they scale so nicely with fotm and locket and knight's vow, and a couple of them can function with coin too.

  1. I thought no one liked damage supports?

  2. Just because supports were broke vagabonds in season 2 doesn't mean we have to keep comparing the state of the role to season 2 when judging how well off it is as a role.

okay but my entire point is that supports aren't broke vagabonds anymore and every season that i've played (4 and beyond) they've increased their revenue by... a lot. remember when procs of spellthiefs edge gave 5 gold and not 8, and then upgraded to 10 and not 15? remember when ancient coin didn't drop you chunks of 25 gold and 40 when upgraded? remember when relic shield and coin didn't give gp5? remember when assists gave less gold than they do right now? remember when shutdowns weren't shared as a team? supports have ample gold to work with provided they're not too far behind, and if you're behind then it's probably because of something that went wrong on the gameplay end rather than the support gold income end. also, we can now get two high impact items by 15-25 (depending on how ahead or behind you are) high impact supportive items like ardent censer, redemption and locket (assuming you build sightsone first) along with boots for roughly 6000 gold. ancient coin will have most likely given you 1000-1300 gold from its passive alone by the time 20 minutes rolls around, when you didn't have to interact with any of your opponents in any meaningful way because you just walked in the general vicinity of a coin. meanwhile, champions like zyra, brand, tld sona, tld lulu, nami, morgana, and the like are gimping themselves by not purchasing coin due to the fact that they'll lose mana wars against the shield bots who block all their poke for one spellcast and regenerate the mana with a coin every 15-30 seconds, and get less gold both early and midgame in comparison to the coin line because they will either run their mana pools dry or simply get killed in action as they keep picking fights to keep their gold income up to par.

tldr; supports aren't poor, ancient coin gives too much gold, and damage supports can't keep up with passive support gold income/defensive support itemization
