Ashe Identity Redesign
I think Ashe should be reworked. Let me explain.
Her current design keeps her utility, which she should have. But also gives her TWO, not one, TWO DPS increasing steroids. In the past most ADCs who were ranged, would have one in their main kit, either on their QWE or passive. DPS Steroids belong on ADCs normally because that is what they do. Ashe is unique, she prefers utility over DPS, so she had none before. Instead featured high utility and an income increaser to compensate her lack of built in damage.
I think they should do this...
Passive: Ranger's Focus.
Ashe builds focus slowly over time, it builds more quickly when she is out of combat. At 100 focus, Ashe's range is boosted by 50 for her next basic attack, which will deal 20-150 bonus damage(based on level). The bonus damage cannot critically strike, but will be amplified by Critical Strike damage modifiers.
(This returns that "I only need one shot" feeling to Ashe, and gives us back a fun tool of hers. But with a twist that makes it viable in this day and age.)
Q: Frost Shot, Cooldown 13/12/11/10/9, Mana cost 40/45/50/55/60. Passively Ashe's basic attacks apply 'Frost' to the enemy target, slowing them by 5/10/15/20/25% for 2 seconds.
On activation she will empower her next attack with True Ice into a volley of 5 smaller shots, slowing their attack speed by 8/10/12/14/16%, returning to normal over 2 seconds, as well as doubling the passive movement speed slow, decaying to normal over this period.
(We removed the damage from her Q entirely, to remove the DPS steroid she was never suppose to have. The volley effect is still kept on the active for it. And it still offers ADC dueling tool that she will be losing through the loss of attack speed, instead focusing on her 'ice' them and slowing their attack speed for a brief moment)
W: Volley Increase mana cost to 75 from 50.
(She currently has too much harass early game with this skill)
E: Hawk Shot Unchanged
(It's effective but doesn't help her fight, it should remain the utility it is.)
R: Enchanted Crystal Arrow Unchanged
(Ashe's most important trademark move, we won't be touching this)
This redesign actually nerfs her overall damage by quite a bit. Bringing her down from top tier DPS to mid-low tier DPS for ADCs. But keeps her utility, gives her a little more utility, and returns the 'on first hit' type Ranger sniping power of "Ranger's Focus".
It's basically old Ashe, with a twist. And intentionally steers clear of giving her any DPS steroids. But does keep the cool volley fire effect on an ability, that instead is more about utility.
I know a lot of new players will look at this and go "what?" so let me explain. In Ashe's old design, her passive simply insured her first hit coming into a fight would be a crit, that would be crud in this day in age, so my Ranger's focus is a bit different. Her slow use to be on her Q, and cost mana, instead I made it cost mana to get the full modern effect out of it and the attack speed slow on enemies, taking away some of her insanely OP damage steroids she currently has, but still giving her the power to duel other ADCs. I increased the mana on Volley because it is currently too strong in lane. Her E use to be the same, but not global, instead it also gave 1-5 gold for CS, I left this off of it, Hawk Shot is fine currently. Her ult has always been her ult, and remains that way.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Thematically Ashe was never meant to be a machine gun. We already have people like Kog'Maw, MF, Tristana, Jinx and such that have huge attack speed steroids. Ashe was suppose to be a ranger, with utilities and precise strikes, as well as good range. That is why in a balance perspective she became broken when they gave her a DPS steroid. One that otherwise doesn't fit her gameplay theme or character design. Her biggest fault is her Q, which just gives her too much damage too fast.
rework... I used to main him but seriously, Why play aatrox when you can build lifesteal on yi...
