Thornmail and what it effects

Me and my friend were having a discussion about thornmail and we wanted to know what champion abilities and items triggers it. We've been trying to search up a reliable source for what procs thornmail, but have sadly came up empty handed. I was wondering if anyone more knowledgable in how the mechanics work could compile a list of abilities it does work against.

All attack modifiers (Nasus' Q, Blitzcrank's E, Illaoi's W, etc.) will trigger Thonrmail. The only ones that won't are the ones that convert the whole attack to magic damage (TF's W, Viktor's Q, old Runeglaive). Thornmail also triggers on physical damage from on-hits like Blade of the Ruined King.

The best way to think about it is to just say Thornmail's passive is an on-hit effect.
