i am bronze and here is a tip.

always expend all your sightstone charges before recalling

Dracocrash1 votes

whoopdie do.. false! if I have 3 wards down, and placing another will ruin the placement of my first ward at baron which still has 1 and a half minute on it, i will not place more wards and ruin baron vision.

So it depends on the amount of wards you have down.

Deep Terror Nami8 votes

I would hold on flaunting your rank when you're in the lowest division. Just because someone is lower than you doesn't mean they are automatically wrong and that you can't have a respectful conversation with them about why you think they are incorrect.

Concerning your recent comment on the Dragon and bot lane (which I assume is what this thread is referring to), I regularly see Dragon is not completely warded at all times; it's not always too difficult to slip in and solo it unnoticed, or get it when the bot lane recalls.

I'll be Plat soon, I'll get you there and bm like a monster

EndlessSorcerer4 votes

BMing is a rather common behaviour in Platinum games.

Even if you decided to troll or intent feed, it would just be another normal game for players in this ELO.

Enjoy your time in Gold; you will need the happy memories.

69469238DEL11 votes

I've heard the tales but how bad can it be? It'll be like coming home mmm

Spicy Rice1 votes

You have no fucking idea.

ALl the players in play think they are gods. Flame for every mistake, and blame for every one of their deaths

Astôlfo8 votes

Bronze 4 here. You can win a game by killing the enemy Nexus.

420 grams2 votes

BUT it's more rewarding to get first blood on riven then they ff at 20 because riven AFK.

Spicy Rice3 votes

Bull shit.

Astôlfo5 votes

Hey, I'm only B4, guess I'm wrong.

Spicy Rice2 votes

Don't kill the poor nexus. Save it from those Red savages

Dracocrash1 votes

sorry you are wrong, if you kill your own nexus you can make the enemy feel bad and force them to surrender..

When you stop taking advice, you stop climbing. That's why many people who think they're god's at the game can get to plat but never to high elo.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

plat is high elo. it accounts for the top 7% (give or take, i think its somewhere just over 5%).

you're talking about diamond+ the top 2%.

mathematically, anyone whos ranked is better than 50% of everyone. and anyone whos above silver 5 is better than the bottom half of all ranked players.

420 grams3 votes

Bronze/silver is low elo. Gold/plat is mid elo. Diamond/masters is high elo. Challenger is challenger.

I've never seen anyone call plat high elo, and I've seen some think even those in low diamond aren't still "high elo" because of the large skill gap in that division.

Very Hard Engage2 votes

theres wide skill gaps between every league and division.

you're thinking in terms of what challenger players see. not math.

a silver player craps all over a brozne player, its the same all the way up and nothing changes.

420 grams3 votes

Except that's not true because I was placed in bronze, and yet there's been a lot of games where I've stomped gold players and could go even with plat.

EndlessSorcerer3 votes

They could have been boosted through Dynamic Queue, they could have been playing an off-role, they could have been learning a new champion or they could have simply been having a bad game.

There is far more to the game than laning phase and consistency of play is a major factor in ranking.

420 grams1 votes

True, but that also implies that ranking doesn't mean everything which was my original argument.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Rankings are generally based off on consistency of play.

While I might be able to (and have occasionally) beaten Master players in games, they will generally stomp me into the dirt.

Their average skill level is far higher than mine is; while I will frequently lose against them, there have been occasions where I manage to eek out a victory.

69469238DEL12 votes

I love it when Bronze players say this XD, you play so well that you can stomp Gold players? Ok climb out of Bronze lol

so I am mid elo?

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Honestly I just generally listen to what players say and try and think if it makes sense or not. If its on the boards I generally will look up a players rank just as a reference. I will admit though If I am looking at guides or something I always try to make sure the player is at least diamond. I think that makes sense though not sure why you would look to lower elo player guides for builds.

69469238DEL11 votes

Exactly my point mayne

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

I would probably consider Platinum to be the lowest of the "high" ELOs. While we can't compare to Master players, being in the top 10% of the community is definitely an accomplishment.

My breakdown would probably be closer to:

  • Lower ELO: Bronze
  • Mid ELO: Silver, Gold
  • High ELO: Platinum, Diamond
  • Experts: Master, Challenger

That said, I'm biased.

I would say bronze and silver are both low elo. There's a very huge post where diamond players admit that silvers are ridiculously hard to carry. Mean while, gold players are medium elo because they just flat out refuse to cooperate half the time. Plat is debatable because they are infamous for not trying.

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

Plat is debatable because they are infamous for not trying.

Platinum is rather famous for toxicity. From my experience in this ELO, that reputation is very well deserved.

That said, they are still the top 10% of the playerbase which means they are skilled. Sadly, being good at something doesn't necessarily mean you aren't a dick.

I would say bronze and silver are both low elo. There's a very huge post where diamond players admit that silvers are ridiculously hard to carry.

Silver, I had to debate over. While players in that ELO are generally unskilled (no offense intended, but there isn't a nice way to say that), it is also the "average" for the entire playerbase.

I was considering splitting it (Silver 3 and down is low ELO, Silver 2/1 is mid ELO), but I didn't want to bother arguing that division.

There's a very huge post where diamond players admit that silvers are ridiculously hard to carry.

I've seen that post before. Honestly, I would say that the higher-ranking players may not properly adapt to that ELO. They may make players or decisions expecting their teammates to react one way, only for them to completely fail to.

Personally, I climbed out pretty quickly once I started spamming Ziggs and Varus. Both teams would just constantly group around objectives in that ELO, so my waveclear let me stall indefinitely while I poked them down and I had the CC to (dis)engage fights.

Any advice is good advice. Why would you think someone in bronze wouldnt be able to give good advice?

69469238DEL13 votes

They lack the game knowledge to carry against players who don't even understand how to use runes.

I have seen very very few bronze players who don't know how to use runes. What world do you live in?

I've seen several bronze players with 15+ different types of runes in one page rofl.

Exactly, but some people want to live in denial lol

Flaherty5 votes

If the advice is wrong or is potentially negative it's not good advice though. If I said "you should facecheck every bush you see when no enemy is in vision" that would most certainly not be good advice.

Brain Errör 4043 votes

Most people should have common knowledge to know what's counter advice from actual advice, though. Anyone who gives advice like that is an obvious troll, but you are correct. I shouldn't have been so general.

Flaherty2 votes

Is that really true though? If I'm asking for advice it's because I don't know how to do something or I can't see what I'm doing wrong. If I don't know what the right thing is how can I differentiate it from something that is wrong? If one person says do A and another person says do B, I can know that B is wrong but that doesn't mean I should assume A is correct.

Brain Errör 4042 votes

You should be doing your own research to find out who has more credibility. Lets speak league for a minute, for instance:

Scenario 1: You died when you walk into a bush by an enemy camping that bush.

Person A tells you: Always face check a bush with no wards. Person B tells you: Don't face check any bush without vision of all champs on the map

You now have personal experience of this and can vouch for person B. You might not have known what the right or wrong thing to do in this situation was, but you know for a fact that dark allies are a scary and terrible place and you should never walk through one alone.

I'm basing advice on people who have played league or are familiar with the moba genre, not people who have never even put a pinky in the water.

Also, most advice are followed with visual content so you can see for yourself what is right and what is wrong.

If someone told you that lichbane and deathcap are good on lee sin and you accept that advice as gospel without even reading his abilities, you're simply a gullible person.

Human beings come built in with a sense of distrust and are always told not to take things at face value. So yes, I truly believe after 15 years a person should have some form of common sense. No one ever told me stealing was wrong, I just knew it was after watching the consequences of what happened to people that stole.

Any advice is good advice. Why would you think someone in bronze wouldnt be able to give good advice?

Because giving advice on something you don't know about is probably going to be inaccurate / not good.

That's like saying all water is good water. No. Some water is bleach. Don't drink bleach kids.

EndlessSorcerer5 votes

If the advice seems reasonable, I'm willing to look further into it by finding supporting sources and verifying it myself. At the very least, they are able to hear advice from higher-tier players and pass it on.

One recent example was regarding Amumu.

I'd heard a lower-ranked player mention maxing W first on Amumu as an off-hand comment during a conversation. After looking further into it, I found that it was apparently being used by a one-trick Amumu Master player (Amumumu) to great success.

As a result, I tried it for a few games and I have been liking it. Some benefits I have found to the build are:

  • Lower reliance on mana when clearing the jungle (since I don't have to spam E)
  • Higher sustained damage during fights (especially against champions and Dragon/Rift Herald/Baron)
  • Better mobility since I can just walk beside the enemy and cry on them (rather than having to stop moving when casting E)

While the actual advice and innovation was from a Master player, it was a lower ELO player who informed me about it.

I am rather happy I didn't dismiss the advice off-hand just because it didn't fit my preconceived knowledge (which was R>E>Q>W skill order).

tl;dr Don't necessarily trust advice provided by lower ranked players, but don't outright dismiss it. Sometimes, useful information is present.

69469238DEL11 votes

you heard about it from a Bronze player but didn't take it into practice until you saw the best Amumu doing it too, so you only prove my point, you should be looking at the best players anyway without bronze suggestions

EndlessSorcerer6 votes

If I hadn't heard the advice from a lower ranked player, I wouldn't have looked into it in the first place and wouldn't have picked up Amumu again.

While I didn't blindly trust their advice, it seemed reasonable enough that I decided to look further into it for alternative opinions.

Considering I didn't play Amumu beforehand since I disliked the E>Q>W skill-order, I probably wouldn't have figured it out unless someone brought it to my attention.

I'm not saying that one should blindly listen to advice from a lower ranked player.

However, if you outright dismiss their advice without even thinking about it, you might miss something useful.

If a challenger player said to build item 3142 on Jinx , would you do it?

69469238DEL12 votes

If they told me why it was good then yeah, they didn't get challenger without knowing something about something

Awesomedude88881 votes

What if a bronze player told you the same thing, alongside solid reasoning because they saw a challenger do it? Would you still take his/her advice?

69469238DEL11 votes

I'd ask them to link me to that challenger, still need to fact check the bronzie

Until you're Diamond+ you're only a little less Bronze in some areas.

Even Challenger players will tell you that being stuck where you're at doesn't mean you're bad at the same things that other people are in your same division. One of the major things I'm currently in Gold for is that my map awareness is complete garbage and any mechanical skill that I have isn't making up for that anymore. (Unfortunately, I only recently realized it.) Someone else might have great map awareness, but they lack the knowledge of where/when to roam without losing a turret.

People get better at different things at different speeds. Even a Bronze player could tell me that my map awareness is garbage and I could tell him/her that he needs to roam differently and we'd both be sharing reasons that we're in the division we're in assuming we're both right. (In his/her case, they would be right.) Obviously they would be lacking in other areas, but it doesn't take a Gold+ player to tell you where you're lacking. I've given advice to high Platinum players and gotten advice from high Bronze players and guess what! IT'S ALL RELEVANT.
