Jungle Is Statistically Now The Most Picked Primary Role In The Game, Why Now?
I know I can't be the only one curious as to why Jungle has taken the throne over Mid lane.
I know I can't be the only one curious as to why Jungle has taken the throne over Mid lane.
Here are my though:
You don't need to be a main Jungler anymore to play Jungle, Riot ha been dumbing down the jungle for some time know with the philosophy that everyone should have the same knowledge inside the jungle, so the old games of gaining and denying knowledge are long gone. Add this to the fact that junglers have no "standard" match ups and literally you only need to learn the jungle once, and any new champion will take 2 additional games to figure it out since the information comes for free.
Carry junglers are strong currently, and any role that has carries as their main party will become popular. People likes to be the star.
New season is coming and Jungle is gettign changed so everyone is jumping into the hype train
Becuse junglers are broken as fk and pretty much decide games very early now.
Why do you think most bans are junglers nowdays? With champs like nidalee graves zac etc existing those players can take over whole games in 10 minutes, the class as a whole need a net nerf and i hope its coming with this pre-season.

Not sure why this got downvoted
Probably triggered Zac mains?
Junglers aren't one class, I think what you are hoping for is a nerf to early presence from the junglers. Just try to remember that if early presence jungling is nerfed we are going to see an increase in farm junglers like Yi, Udyr, and Shyvana.
No we won't.
Jungle timers got increased on PBE, out of the champs you named, only Udyr can offer something other than farming for the first 20 minutes, so we definetley won't see any Yi or Shyvana until they got changes.
Clear times have also been increased thanks to the changes to Krugs and Raptors. All of those champs are also effective at counterjungling, so if the enemy does try to use a ganker the Yi/Udyr/Shyvana can take their camps starving them of a lot of gold by taking the camps that are easiest to farm and leaving them with Raptors and Krugs which they might not be able to handle. They are also good at counterganks since they bring lots of damage.

^ It took a whole season for the preseason affects from last December to trickle down to lower ELOs, but its pretty obvious now that the things we were seeing in high ELO from last preseason were pretty much the way things go, one of those important things being the increased impact junglers have in games because of all the changes to empower snowballing.
because its a bot lane clown fiesta meta. nobody wants to be ganked 24/7, so they don't play bot. nobody wants to play top because they have no impact on the game unless fed as fuck. mid is still popular. jungle likes free kills from bot clown fiesta
Because when you get tired of bad junglers, you become one yourslef
Jungle has gotten more influential than ever before, especially early game powerfarming junglers like
who are also playmakers in the lategame. This counts for both soloQ and competitive.
There are several factors that contribute to this.
First, there's the fact that the game is much more snowbally than before. If botlane gets one kill they snowball really hard because that is just what marksmen do when they get to have some gold, if midlane gets a kill he and the jungler can turn that gold into a lot of map pressure, same with the jungler himself getting teh kill. It's probably the worst when toplane gets a kill, in most cases one kill is enough to make the toplane unwinnable for the enemy toplaner, unless he gets a gank himself. Freezing and farm denying cs plus poking under tower is getting easier and easier, especially with all the ranged and semi-ranged toplaners that are the Meta right now.
It's also easier to pick up nowadays, in earlier seasons when people were worse than now and jungle clearing was much harder it was pretty intimidating and practically impossible pre30 before you had your runes and masteries finished.
So basically, every lane in the game is a bomb and the jungler is the best one at lighting the fuse. On top of that, lighting that fuse makes the bomb explode much more than before and it is easier than it ever was.
because junglers control most outcomes of most games
the jungler who applies the most pressure and is most successful will help their team carry and win the game
You know, I kind of like it. Roles should vary in popularity, the game seems to stagnant if everyone always wants [role] all the time.
Good point, it's just strange since Mid lane has unquestionably owned the spot for multiple seasons up until recently.
This is incredibly easy to answer. Jungle allows melee top laners to farm to an appropriate level and not be harassed by Jayce, Kennen, Gnar, Teemo, Quinn, Graves, etc. Heck, I even play Akali jungle much more successfully than in lane right now. I guarantee you that top lane is one of the main ones going down in popularity. It's like we have 3 ranged lanes now.
Well Jungle has the most carry potential currently, and all the current mid lane champions are aids to play against. You mix those together and suddenly no one wants to play mid anymore.
It's because next season they're changing the Jungle.
because its so easy to carry as a jungler in low elo.
Not when before you even clear your first buff the enemy has a double kill
High impact on the game, possibility to gank ( and win) any lane you want, objectives Control, no official counters and pretty the same matchups, hard to screw as there is noone you could have possibly fed unless you are really retarded, many ways to get fed and start snowballing.
It is just the easiest way to carry in every elo not because it is the easiest role but because of its impact and low possibility to screw everything when your teammates are carrying.
and
are on free week.
Jungle has been taken over because of the snowballing issue with bot. When most matches you see 4 people bot vs 2 it does get annoying. Right now jungle is more safe than all other lanes sadly. When riot makes the game less snowball than that's when you will see jungle picked less for primary role.
I picked up LoL at the start of season 2/end of season 3 and for the first 30 levels and 20 ranked games, I mained ADC. Jungle intimidated me because it was hard for a new player to pick up at that time, despite the amount of sustain you got from the Spirit Stone line or the power from old Wriggle's Lantern. Fast forward to the end of season 5/start of season 6. I'd been maining jungle for 2 years as I got more confident and knowledgeable. Season 5 had a notoriously difficult jungle up until the point that the infamous tank meta rolled around and clearing the jungle was possible simply by standing still. Then throughout season 6 changes were made to things like buff timers and double jungling. By this point, nobody is intimidated by the jungle and tanks are no longer meta. Now, solo queue warriors lock carry playstyle junglers and forego the chess games that happened in early seasons entirely. Even utility focused junglers like Nunu and Trundle no longer play "supportively" and get picked for their ability to chase kills more than for their ability to counterjungle or "control" jungle. There's nothing wrong with the jungle being easy, but I sure do miss the good ol' days.
Because Riot has been dumbing down the jungle; because there is a large roster of dominant junglers; having a competent jungler pretty much makes or breaks a game; and most importantly, no one wants to play lane with all the toxic and unfun champions that are strong in this meta, with too few bans.
that's how you carry dynamic boosted trash. byjungling and preassuring the map where it's needed
Sure it's not ADC still?
I know top and support are like low bottom.
Guess maybe its like this now:
Hasn't been adc in a long time, if ever.
bot lane is the least picked, for sure.
Top,jg, and mid are more popular.
ADC might not be the one to always carry but I'll be damned if it isn't hell to win a game with a shit ADC on your team. Good luck taking objectives and turrets if the ADC doesn't know how to play, the other roles can be carried
Huh, I thought people hated playing ADC because they actually have to rely on others to live.
Look up the stats yourself, this isn't my opinion its fact. Jungle is now more popular than Mid Lane.
where?
because people that can't last hit or react to protect teammates / objectives can hide there while pretending they are carrying the game
Heh. I won't lie. I'm not as talented at csing as, say, the average adc main, but if you can't last hit at all as a jungler, you're not qualified to do your job. Holding and pushing lanes from time to time is just part of the job description.
I started maining jungle because i wanted to have more control over whether i win my games or not, and jungle is the role with the greatest impact on the map. There are also many junglers you can legitimately carry with.
I'm guessing because jg is really easy this season as you just have to farm a lot to do well (it also has a lot of variety between tanks, assassins, marksmen, bruisers).
Another reason probably is that most assassins suck right now so playing midlane means picking a mage. If you don't like mages then mid is pretty boring.
jungle is just simply easy as fuck right now. absolute 100% tank meta besides maybe nidalee high end, graves himself is pretty tanky. you can play khazix sometimes but if you dont get super fed early, you simply lose.
no reason to just not tank.
i would chalk it up to bot lane being super strong right now so getting them fed is a higher priority as well as REALLY strong junglers right now.
just to name a few. i can't tell you how many times i've been flash R'd by
only to be immediately deleted by the
that was hiding there the whole time.
shaco quinn and ekko? wut
tankko, shaco ganks and quinn R. granted i see ekko and quinn top lane more but i still think they're very strong jg.
Shaco is rather strong right now, Ekko and Quinn... eh. Less so.
i think they're pretty viable, tho thats just like my opinion man.
Yeah. I'm not saying they're unplayable, just not top tier.
But...jungle Quinn only has presence post-6, only brings a very moderate slow+blind to a gank, and is highly item dependent. If she was strong, it was before all the nerfs to her. Now its a niche pick at best.
i think its pretty aight, she can have presence pre 6 with red, due to quinns strong early game she can output a lot of damage. the level 6 ganks are devistating to any immobile champion and her blind fucks over adcs when ganking bot. i think quinn jg is aight. either way my point still stands about junglers.
Don't worry, nonsense plants will change that.
Simple answer: First Blood Tower decides games.
it's easy to impact bot lane
Because 1 person can't lay down enough vision to protect themselves because warding is a fucking joke. Camping people has always been a cheap way to get elo, but prior to all the bullshit ward changes it was incredibly easy to counter with stealth wards. Now it's a total dice roll because you either have to A) Sit in darkness and wait so you can drop more than one ward or B) Rotate 1 ward between charges, but that still involves sitting in darkness for X amount of time because the recharge is longer than duration. In most scenarios, even with a pink out, you will only be able to have 2 wards up at any given time, and there's simply too many ways to gank for it to work, especially in the mid lane.
Because bot mid and tops have gotten tired of the shitty jglers I tried playing top today, jg didn't gank till 6, failed miserably on his gank by not going thru river, and died by chasing to turret
Because top, mid, and bot laners are always unreliable and the only way to win is to carry your shit team through as the jungler.
Its fun
