So I've played a few games as Rakan.

I love his personality and want to play him but I'm confused. I build AP, I die instantly. If I build tank my damage seems to be too weak. If I build utility I have no scaling and base numbers are low. He has a tank kit that wants to engage and disrupt the enemy with an AP body that has no defensive stats and a ranged AA preventing him getting relic shield. His Q is so weak and short range its near impossible to use. I'm at a loss...what is his point again? He seems like a lot of fun but the fact is supports in bot often have the tools to lock him down making his mobility a non-factor. I'll play him a few more times but really...I don't understand how Rakan is supposed to be built or function. So before I play him a few time could I have some advice from someone who feels they have a good idea of what Rakan is? Tank, AP, peeler, engager, a very weak and seriously in need of buffs champ?

He's a distraction. Don't stack ap, try for cdr and mana, with resists. Your E and W are everything. Q is a nice bonus. He's a mobility engage peeler with an escape you need to plan.

The problem I am running into when I engage is that the range on E without Xayah is just too short. I often cannot find anyone to get back too even when they are near. If I could ward hop or minion hop sure but its only champions. Also I can't E myself to grant shield allowing me to survive for a second. Engaging just seems to punish me. I'll try the CDR mana route for items but I don't see how that'll help yet. Also why you downvote me? I'm just asking for help.

I didn't downvote you. I know the purpose of this thread; it's a good thread.

Try throwing in a couple of these:item 3109 item 3050 item 3174 item 3065 Specifically item 3109 and item 3050 feel amazing.

If you don't need mercs, go item 3009 or item 3047 .

After about 20+ games on my alt, I'm pretty confident to say item 3504 is a trap. Idk if I like item 3107 either tbh except to throw it down as I go in. I prefer item 3190 .

hmm... I'll give em a try. Thanks.

Oh, also: don't max Q. E is far superior to it and is your bread an butter, followed by W.

Lol, yeah I learned that one first game. Such a useless ability and so...lame.

athenes is only not a trap when you have 4 autoattack based champs on your team, and even then your still fucked because full ad team lol

item 3504 you mean? item 3174 is great.

Yeah lol I meant item 3504 (when it took me like 5 minutes to think of the name)

I feel like Tank and engage. I mean I don't expect damage from Alistair either. I just want to go in and setup. He is super squishy otherwise. Although last game I played vs a decent mobility Rakan. Haven't checked his build but he was hard to pin down.

He feels squishy even with tank items to be honest. I think his base stats are pretty low. It's one of the problems I'm running into with him.

You still need to get in CC nd jump out. But I wasn't instantly blown up and reliant on followup. Still more deaths than a normal engage support.

His cooldown are waaayyyyy too long for him to be relevant i feel. Even with 40% CDR, you're often left with nothing but the most underwhelming Q to cast.

I feel that he works best as a counter-engage, or as a follow up initiator with E-W after one of your ally initiated himself.

But yeah i struggle with his build. He scales really well with AP, and the base value of his heal and shields are really bad without AP, so i'm trying to fit some AP in my built, yet being squishy is really hard when your job is to get in the way.

Lol, he has one of the best engages in the game in my opinion.

Build:item 3069 or item 3401 item 2045 item 3107 item 3190 item 3001 and boots is a decent general build.

You build like a tanky enchanter, similar to a tanky Bard build. You cant stay in once you engage, you need to leave, After you set up, you go back and peel for the ad with the q heal(you should have thrown it while engaging) and your two E shields. Postioning is key. Rakan Rakan Rakan

He is too annoying to play as.

Worst lines, worst delivery. He is the reverse Draven.

You want defensive items and some ms. item 3069 is core on him as it enchances his ult (you could technically go item 3800 item 2302 but I think it delays it so much). You grab the sighstone item 2045 , boots and the standard 2 ap items (item 3107 and item 3190 ) the alst item is generally a tank item but you could go for more utility

Basically, you build the best of all those. You go scaling resist runes (because you mostly just build health, so it pays off quite well) item 3136 : For your dmg (and some tankyness). The burn alone makes it great for an in-an-out fighter. You keep refreshing it. item 3174 : For the utility, cdr, and seige sustain.

And everything else you build normal support stuff. (probably first)
