Build Path for BF Sword.

Had a crazy thought today.

You see, I've been maining ADC and playing the role in any game i can get.. and the thing that always bugs me most is how you either A.) Have to wait to go back longer than you would like to get that BF Sword.. or B.) You end up going back for something you'd rather not buy.

Now this isn't true for all ADC's! Ezreal or Corki, as an example, can easily go back and get a sheen first. It gives them a large damage increase and is also 350 gold cheaper than that rushed BF Sword.

See the problem?

My suggestion here is to make BF Sword build out of a Longsword. It'll expand the starting item pool down in bot lane (most ADC's are going Doran's Blade and 1 hp pot every game, when 3 hp pots and a longsword is more viable a lot of the time), and it will also make it simpler to finish that BF Sword around the time that other carries are finishing items like Sheen.

Three reasons this won't make BF Sword a stronger rush, but will instead make it more viable.

1.) You're only upgrading an item instead of flat out buying a new one.. giving less of an overall ad increase with first back. 2.) If you suddenly get killed and you have only 1200 gold (and started with a longsword), then you still get a 40 AD increase by upgrading the item. 3.) The meta won't shift heavily just because of a build path change. It makes more sense to make BF Sword work this way, and it also gives more options when planning your build.

Totally looking for other people's opinions on this, especially with all the new build path changes to make things more viable recently.

this is done on purpose.

it makes it so that buying BF sword is a decision - do I risk staying in lane longer, or do I back for the bigger power spike?

Otherwise there is no reason to ever think about timing - you just go straight for BF sword with zero risk.

I've always thought it should do that since they made the item 1028 into the item 1011 change. They could also do the same with item 1058 out of say an item 1052 .

Working as intended. BF sword and NL Rod are meant to be super expensive kind of mini core items.

But the heated discussion on numbers continues! Everyone is making good points, but i think in this case OP is probably right. I've got a friend who mains Corki who i duo with pretty frequently, and he starts doran's blade and rushes sheen (especially if he has a good support like Leona) due to the massive damage increases.

Also, this doesn't look like a buff to BF sword in any way, shape, or form. It literally looks like a build path change that makes it easier to handle.

ADC's and Mages already have the potential to snowball crazy hard. Let's look at it this way

item 1036 + 1190 gold = item 1038 item 1052 + 1165 gold = item 1058

The issue here is the snowballing potential would start even earlier.... by allowing them to start with such a dramatic discount to their "core items" How will other champions who are less equipped to handle these items fare? If a lane is completely even (0/0/0) it takes about 50 CS with ambient gold to be able to afford a BF sword..... with that dramatic discount it would take about 35-40. That's 1-2 minion waves faster... and in the case that the lane isn't even and the enemy ADc gets a Double kill + first blood.... that's 700 gold in their pocket + all their CS compared to the supports 350 + ambient gold and maybe a little more off their supp items/masteries/runes what have you. The supports in bot lane will most likely be forced to back with their ADC with out the ability to buy anything useful.

By forcing Mages and Marksmen to sacrifice and chose their build paths early it reduces their snowballing potential so the rest of the map also has a chance to keep up with them.

item 1076 and item 1075 are not necessary early items but they offer great utility and sustain for those types of champions and helps keep the lanes under control unless some crazy amount of feeding is going on.

SIDE NOTE THO

I'd rather a better build path for item 3105 with out taking up 3 inv slots with relatively useless items on their own, before saving and dumping 1900 gold into the item.

item 1028 +item 1006+ item 1033 + 820 gold

Assuming your inventory is already item 2049 item 1001 item 3301 (or another random support item/upgrade) That's pretty slot inefficient to me to hang on to the above items completely filling your inventory, while you save another 820 gold. And God Forbid you aren't a tank with those items.

.....no sorry buddy. The B.F. Sword is one of two "big-ticket items" item 1038 item 1058 . These Items grant an immense spike of power, with a lot of raw stats (AD for BF, and AP for Needlessly). The point of their high cost is to make you deicide, "Hmm, I've backed and only have 1200g and I ALREADY have my Pickaxe, do I go back to lane without buying anything besides pots and WARDS, or do I buy something else?" This also makes ADCs decide if they find the B.F worth it, or if they think they just wanna go with a Pickaxe first or second back. If they created a build path for BF, it would

  1. Give more early damage, possibly making bot lane a blood bath
  2. Make it MUCH easier to save up for, and starting Long Sword would give you an even earlier beginning to Infinity Edge
  3. Ruin Needlessly Large Rod's gameplay as well, as they are equivalent items between AD and AP.

Make a build path for Needlessly Large Rod and then we can talk.
