Is there any point to playing Viktor anymore?
I might be missing something, so I would like to know how or why I should use Viktor these days. He use to be my favorite mage, back when nobody played him and he was silently powerful. But now he's at 48% winrate and I can't really think of any good reason to play viktor over better options.
He no longer has powerspikes you can use to bully after nerfs to death ray and hexcore. He no longer is a powerful anti-engage teamfight mage with his nerfed ultimate, and partially because of nerfed death ray. But he's still saddled with very high cooldown spells, and iffy range on death ray, that make him a very poor poke mage. And because of the cooldown on his stuff, combined with his damage nerfs, I don't think he contributes nearly as much to a sustained teamfight most other mages. Plus, he's still saddled with some of the worst CC/Mobility in the game (a long cooldown locational slow that is unlikely to stun competent players, and a sprint on Q that will never save him against a mobile champion). Xerath, a notoriously immobile champion, at least has a stun and more reliable/stronger slow on quicker cooldown. Your Q shield isn't going to do anything but delay your inevitable death either in most cases.
I want to experiment using him as a tank mage. It could be fun, but perhaps is of questionable value.
