Morgana's passive is a little bit out of position

She has a 82,2% play rate as a support and 16,2% for mid lane. So huh... what's the deal of her having spellvamp as a support champion (if you exclude her other playing roles).

I mean, this is almost at the top of my list of the most useless passive. Well actually no, IS IT the most useless passive considering her current role.

Because spellvamp is sustain. You'd be surprised how much healing her passive gives her during a match.

it is great in lane as a support... use you W to proc spell thief on both bot laners and as you damage them you heal yourself for sustain in lane

great in team fights cuz the spell vamp can keep you sustained as you are using ult ,q , w to try to disrupt the enemy

  • you don't need her passive to proc spell thief.
  • Bot laning usually last until level 10 which at that moment, morgana has 10% spell vamp
  • that 10% spell vamp is reduced to 1/3 for aoe and multiple target spells (her W and R)
  • Playing her as a support champion, you usually privilege defensive items instead of offensive items which lowers her passive effectiveness.

  1. He/she's saying that spellthief's gives extra healing from the passive
  2. What does that matter? She still heals during every other part of the game too
  3. Healing is healing, it matters no matter what
  4. I refer to 3

  • That healing is almost non apparent considering how little is heals

  • She is played as a support role 82,2%. So you're telling me that this passive doesn't feel out of place ?

  • Even Heimerdinger's old passive is doing a better job than this healing.

Hochelaga1 votes

Well basically no, i'm not impressed by that weak healing in early game. are you kidding me.

Shuyin1783 votes

Riot isn't here to impress you, so your opinion of "i'm not impressed" means nothing because the passive still heals and does matter.

correct me if im wrong but isnt spell vamp boosted by damage?

the same as lifesteal

the more damage you do on a spell the more healing you get in return?

and dont you build/play morg as an off mage support getting item 3157 item 3092 130ap + 15 ap from runes for 155ap so your spell vamp healing is greater as you have ap ? ( corrected typo )

personally as someone who main morg support i would build her as an off ap brusier mage with supportive capabilities

Shuyin1781 votes

Morg is my 2nd best support, I too build her as a damage mage with support capabilities. I mean she's a caster support with one of the strongest snares in the game (her Q) and the potential to 5-man-snare with her ult. She gets some sustain in lane, it was stated by someone at Riot (can't remember at this point) saying that Morg's passive actually does matter.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

do you ever get item 3174 on her ? cuz your E turns into a heal based off damage you deal so when you use black shield on an ally you can actually heal them and with the mana regen passive change turning into AP its even better

i also alot of games will get item 3116 so when i use W its an aoe slow... which can be used to peel and makes it so super easy to land Qs and helps with the ult too

Shuyin1781 votes

Honestly I haven't been sure if her E works with normal shielding buffs (like Grail or other shield related items). If it does, awesome, if not meh.

I get Crystal Scepter on her too because it works so good with her W. Sure, most champions can just dash out, but it's still very useful imo even after its nerfs.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

if its listed as a shield then yes it works with item 3174 and because it is a shield item 3504 works as well on E

Hochelaga1 votes

I don't even get your argument.

130 + 15 = 145 AP not 155. The more hp you have the greater vamp healing ? what.

So if I have 3000 hp with morg, her spell vamp value is better?....

spell vamp healing is applied AFTER magic resist. so if you're hitting a tank such as maokai or Sejuani, you'll probably maximum 200 hp (EVEN with your Zhonya or whatever 155 ap). That is basically a 60 Hp healing AT BEST.

Morgana's main reason for her played a support is her black shield and her Q. You catch people before a fight or you start a fight by catching someone. Which, you'll be at full life

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

the HP was a typo clearly i was talking about AP

who says you dont have have magic pen ?

and any healing is better ... she is played as a support cuz of her abilities to protect a carry, and her team fight engage/disengage with Q + ult

Hochelaga1 votes

I think that you're not getting my point.

Her passive is out of place because the majority of players play Morgana as a support.

That spell vamp is NOT optimal as a support champion because of all the reasons I mentionned.

I don't care how much healing it gives back to Morgana. She DOESN'T NEED IT as a support champion because that passive is old as hell.

All the argument you're saying is going back to having more AP and offensive items which is fine but as MID laner and NOT a support champion.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

all champs need healing...

and oh btw i did purpose a change to her kit for a rework if you care to bitch about that

Hochelaga1 votes

Lol I just don't get your stubborness. And if you even ''purpose'' a change for her passive, what's the point of still talking about this point.

''all champs need healing''. means nothing

That's the same thing as if I was saying all champs need dmg. ok then what? Does this mean that a champ without proper dmg ability is not good?

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

did you see the idea i had for her passive?

where you aware she is inline for a rework along with kayle at some point

Vekkna2 votes

As a support, her passive can actually be quite useful to sustain through minion agro and helps her in matchups like Alistar, Sona, Brand, Zyra, Cait, Ezreal, and Jhin.

Healing off poke over time is pretty useful.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

well then play her mid

BobaFlautist1 votes

I swear to god if they give Morgana a support-only passive I'm quitting this game.

Bad enough that they've neutered her base damages over the years for her support presence.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

which is stupid cuz the changes to meta shifts in mid lane forced her out and only viable as a support , she is still ok mid in a certain team comp as a counter pick.

and yea she has been gutted as a support cuz she use to be a strong pick as a support. now she is once again ok in a certain team comp as a counter pick

Jaspers1 votes

Helps her sustain in lane and during fights, get a good binding, W and/or Ult, and you will remain in the fight instead of dead.

Plus, Mid Morg is great, Max W and clear the entire wave of minions, go roam and win.

Out of interest, I went back and looked at her 'History'. She's had nothing but nerfs since release it seems. Until they rework her and make her a pure support that is. :P

Hochelaga1 votes

For all people who says that her passive is great for mid Morgana, yes it's true.

but for now, she is only played mid for about 16% of all games. Her passive is not working out for the current meta which is Morgana support.

Jaspers1 votes

I get your point, I'm sure there are many abilities on supports that might not fit. Brand is played support a lot and other than a stun which is dependent on landing another ability (yes one is a point and click but still), he brings little to the role other than damage. He is meant to be a midlaner.

At least Zyra has a large area knockup, even if I think she's a stupid support too.

Kaioko1 votes

She was a mid laner long before she became a support champion. She might be played as a support champion now but her kit is still her old one. She's very linear and has an old kit when the game used to be a lot simpler. She needs to be reworked but because she's by far not the of the oldest champions in need of a rework; she probably will not get one for a very long time.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

she was rumored to be inline for a rework , her and kayle

im not against a rework... i like for her to keep her Q, and ult maybe make her W into a grounding effect like cass i think her E is ok too vs heavy cc comps,ap comps

maybe make her passive a unique thing where damage she does turns into aheal for a champ she is binded to , basically a spell vamp for an an ally. so in lane she binds to her adc and her damage via AP is applied as a heal to the adc

Kaioko1 votes

Oh right I forgot about the dual sister rework. I actually hope that if she gets a rework the bind becomes more interesting. Having the bulk of her damage tied to a linear skillshot is very un-interactive. Same with her pool.
