[New] Stat Shards [Important note for clarity: Rune paths themselves no longer grant style bonuses; you now get those stats from Stat Shards.] Row 1: 10 Adaptive (6 AD or 10 AP), 9% Attack Speed, 1-10% CDR (lvls 1-18). Row 2: 10 Adaptive, 5 Armor, 6 Magic Resist, (We’re debating adding a 4th here). Row 3: 15-90 HP (lvls 1-18), 5 Armor, 6 Magic Resist You pick one per row, giving you a total of 3 choices.

No 18% Attack Speed (double AS) or 30~180 Health (double Health) options, but 12AD/20AP (double AD/AP) option is there.

Debating? What's left more to debate, when the whole purpose of this change was to open more options and give more freedom of stat choice? This is what I don't understand: Riot could easily solve problems and fix holes in the game BUT THEY DON'T. Why?

item 3070 Jhin Yasuo MasterYi Taric Braum Nasus item 3070 + other champs who could use double AS or double Health.

I think the tradeoff is the overall diversity of stats. You can't get as much health/attack speed, but you can also grab some other stats. They want people to be more well-rounded in their stat choices. That's why they force you to take at least one offensive and defensive shard.

There's also the added flexibility of being able to choose whatever runes you want. If you're Yasuo, you can totally take Resolve secondary for Shield Bash + Revitalize while still getting the stats you want from your runes.
