Your new player experience is completely flawed.

I'm watching a friend play league for the first time, since he's a dota player he's actually doing very well. However, HOWEVER Why in the fuck does he automatically lose because he's forced to use ghost and heal while the enemy has flash ignite? Not only is this a massive shift in power between levels it's also an unfair advantage. It also seems to highlight how absolutely broken flash is that it absolutely shadows ghost in comparison.

In other words, fix it please.

Yea, was helping my buddy start and saw a gold 3, level 178 matched in the same lane as my friend. My friend was level 7. I just told him to afk that game because it was bs and we had lunch till his afk timer reset.

TimeToDieSuckers3 votes

erm... so you were a level 180 helping your friend start by duoing and got matched with someone of your level?

Would you rather be matched vs lvl 7's so you can stomp them and ruin their experience yourself?

Yeah by the time I was able to use flash I didn't understand how to use it so I didn't use it for some time cuz not taking it was better for my win rate at the time. Now I often take it, but unlike some players I don't think it's mandatory. But it's pretty insane that they don't let new players use every spell.

Has it ever been different? :D

Because then it would be easier for Smurf players to just create new account and start busting kids to sleep

level 9 is so easy to reach though especially if you're a smurf. But for new players, they're not even allowed to have flash to react to some shit. I still think it's a flawed design.

I mean if they're new, that would only give em time to get fundamental into the game LOL And like you say, level 9 is easy to reach

I think the logic is that new players are paired up with other new players so there should be no difference in what is available to them. Aka, they don't have flash, but neither do their opponents.

At least that is how it is supposed to work.

doesn't really matter about the logic, I think it's been the same ever since I've started playing leauge back in season 3

from level 1-15 there's always a question of "will i get 2 top laners,/ will the enemy get a jungler this game"

cause you don't get smite or other summs

Then why is everyone having such a fit over why all summoners should be unlocked from level 1? Not sure what you mean when you say "[New players] aren't even allowed to have flash...". Yes they are, when they unlock the spell like every other player; it's not unique to new players.

Flawed design because there are games where new players have to face off against other new players who use flash ignite or smurfs? If it's the latter, then they would lose regardless of summoner spells. As for the former, chances are other new players are not going to grasp the advantage they may have using flash ignite, thus it is far from an "auto-lose".

Honestly despite being ubiquitous, flash takes a bit of skill to use effectively/intelligently, too many people waste their flashes, and newbies doubly so. It makes sense for them not to have it right away because the other spells aren't as easily bungled up.

None that are available when you start playing. There are maybe four champions that prefer ghost or ignite over flash DrMundo Hecarim Singed Shaco and anything else is a handicap. And ignite isn't unlocked either (or smite).

not to mention being able to changing runes. some champions just suck with the automatic rune path

Didn't say ex, so might just be trying to appreciate a new game in the same genre.

Might also be trying to dodge the TI battle pass. I (when I played Dota), and many others would rather heavily reduce our chances of winning than to get a win, but no battlepass progress.

100% all Summoners need to be unlocked from the Tutorial.

God Hates Teemo1 votes

it takes like an hour to reach the point of unlocking Flash, does it really matter?

Former Dota player here.

I thought summoner spells were busted too until it was an even playing field for everyone starting out (at level (?) I don't remember). I thought Dota was much more fair for new comers since we all had the same hero pool and no summoner spells to choose from.

It's because no newbie wants to be bombarded with lots of information from the very beginning on in a game full of mechanics and knowledge. Meaning, if you want to learn the game bit by bit you have to throw important stuff bit by bit to the player. The player gets to know to very basic summoners which are present in pretty much every game (healing and running faster).

Naturally, someone who already made the experience with summoners will know what is best for him/her but you also have to consider that ignite encourages to play aggressive/offensive compared to heal which, in the most basic situation, is used defensive. The mechanics on the beginner summoners are limited and easier to handle. Flash is mandatory because it can pretty much turn around a 1v1 but no beginner will start with intense 1v1s with flashy plays.

It's annoying at first but it makes sense why some summoners are locked and why ghost and heal are the beginner sums.
