Spamming the mastery symbol doesn't stop the enemy bruiser from wrecking your face and making you go 0-5.

Yasuo top is a niche pick. It is not supposed to be an instalock safe 1st pick.

Yasuo is fine btw, people are just bad with him. He can easyly make bruiser lanes farm lanes at least if he is any decent, his early levels are surprisingly strong. He gets snowballed on very fast IF you suck with him. Its not the pick that is bad, its just that 90% of the yasuo players are not close to the skillevel thats required to play him effectivly in every matchup.

Sometimes I wish people picked simpler characters

Like say you have the choise between Mundo and Yasuo top

Mundo is a simple champion but there comes a point where he is limited in what he can do. So his worst on a scale of 10 is like a 4, but with Yasuo if you can't play hom properly he's like a 2, a 1 in some matchups like a Doran's Blade all in, fuck your face Xin Zhao.

However the reason why Yasuo is good is because with knockups and being ahead, he can be a 9 on a scale of ten. Where a fed Mundo with a good comp is like a 6 or 7 (depends on your build and matchup).

Note: this is an over generalization

I rode Sona's back out of silver this season. :) Beating people who counter her. The hardest match ups, in my opinion where Alistar/Leona. Main reason? People didn't know how to get to me. And it's Silver, it's not so much the champs you pick it's your general understanding of the game.

To be honest, Yasuo isn't a safe pick for mid either. Despite countering a lot of mages, he is surprisingly easy to counter at mid lane too, with the right pick. Fizz Chogath Vladimir Zed Malzahar Akali Swain Morgana Annie

Yasuo is surprisingly easy to counter at mid lane, it is just that with the exception of Zed, none of his counters are popular mid laners, and most popular mid laners are countered by Yasuo.

Yasuo doesn't really deserve the popularity he has.

Zed vs Yasuo is a skill matchup. The only hard counters on there are Fizz, Akali, and you should add Diana.

Yasuo kinda needs a huge, steaming rework. It seems like every match-up he's either countered and gets dumped on, or counters his opponent and snowballs into a beast. He's too binary. All or nothing. Can you deal with his Wind Wall? Congrats, you beat Yasuo! Can you NOT deal with Wind Wall due to a silly reliance on ranged attacks/spells and skillshots? Congrats... Yasuo will poop in your soul. (Or at the very least he'll farm for 20 minutes and outscale you while staying absurdly safe and unkillable)

He needs a rework. Right now he's a pile of crap.

Um lol his matchups all depend on skill level. He isn't binary at all. He just has a pretty big skillcap and people fail to understand that.

this is EXACTLY what happened in 2 of my games. I was winning bot as Lucian then I die instantly in a teamfight. Surprise, surprise, enemy top and jungle are extremely fed and our yasuo is 2-10. Next game I'm support, and on the 2nd wave, XinZhao FIRST BLOOD Yasuo ! An ally has been slain. He ends up 0-7 at one point.

It's pretty funny how Yasuo is extremely mobile, and yet on no other champ have I seen such crazy feeding. Not on tanky tops, not on squishy tops.

To be fair, Yasuo's problem in the first game seems to be getting camped by Jax. Alistar top doesn't have much kill pressure early on, but he assists ganks extremely well.

I wouldn't ever pick Yasuo into Xin Zhao though, lol. You can't outplay Xin.

In high plat/low diamond why is this still an issue? Why is "not feeding until you are X-10" an issue? I've only seen it become an issue with Yasuo.

Yasuo shits all over Olaf's hopes and dreams IMHO, lol.

It is very easy to control the wave and win trades with an immobile motherfucker with little in the way of CC and a reliance on sustained damage (E doesn't cut it in terms of burst), especially pre-six. He can dash in on you, trade, and absorb your retaliation with his shield easily. If you try to catch him and make the trade more favorable with an axe, he can easily wind wall it.

Meh. I mostly just farm until Six and do a Q and E combo if he gets too close. Once I hit six I let them ult me and then ult once the suspension starts. He gets stuck in his animation and I can get a second or two of free damage off. I usually just Max E and build some one of the hydra since I know he can block my axes but his windwall is useless against my E.

Yasuo top lane is honestly only for the most experienced and brave Yasuo players anyway. It takes a true understanding of the champion to venture into the land of Riven, Renekton, Garen, Irelia, and Darius and live to tell the tale.
