I like the PBE Varus Nerf.

Q CD increased to 20-12 from 16-8
Total AD ratio lowered to 1.5 from 1.65 for max damage
CD is reduced by 5 seconds flat if the arrow detonates Blight stacks on a champion

Basically, this nerf specifically targets the unhealthy long range poke Varus (Lethality Varus). Which, btw, is not just a problem of this season - ArPen mid Varus with Youmuu's, Muramana, Maw, Last Whisper Upgrade was already a common pick in LCK last year.

Also, the CD reducing effect emphasizes the importance of CdR for Varus - 40% CdR Varus who procs Blight with his Arrow gets it back in 2.2 seconds!

What I don't like is MF's Double Up changes (if the 50% bonus damage is too much, reduce it). And Jhin still needs ~~his legs broken with road roller~~ a real nerf that is not merely a love tap. For example, by having his base MS reduced to 325, like all the other long-range Marksmen.

how is it a problem? i feel like varus was designed to build armor pen, he is a poke champion. a year ago i remember varus being fairly popular and people building the usual youmuus and such, no one complained that it was broken because it has strengths and weaknesses

5 seconds flat might be too strong for his full combo rotation Seems like a buff to his combo when done correctly to proc blight but we just have to wait and see

It is definitely a buff to his short range combo, but I personally think that's okay. That's not the part of Varus that people had trouble with - it was the Varus that stands 3 miles away and takes off 1/2 your health bar with a Q from way outside your own range.

Also, it's a buff to AP Varus, which I'm looking forward to!

I don't see how it's a buff to ap Varus in the slightest, besides maybe from people not playing him much anymore. It would literally be the same CD as the pre nerf just you have to pop blight.

Maybe I'm missing something with the CDR though.

Anyways, the nerf to his Q base damage seems pretty detrimental for AP Varus. Hopefully I am wrong

Edit: Nevermind I was reading the update form another site so if this is indeed the case that is kinda neat.

It's a buff if you have CDR, and AP Varus ends up with a lot of CDR (Nashors + Lichbane are pretty core, and they give him 30% alone).

At 45% CDR, old Q had a 4.4 second cooldown, whereas new Q would have 6.6 cooldown - down to 1.6 if it hits Blight stacks!

The nerf to damage, I can't tell if it will affect Varus much, honestly I think it was unneeded.

The CD change on his Q was ok, I only ever play AP Varus so I'm usually blighting people up anyways, but I rely on his Q's base damage to farm minions when I start to get zoned.
