Pink wards actually feel tankier than quite a bit of champions right now

PaffWasTaken··166 votes·22,521 views

Not even exaggerating. This powercrept burst damage meta is depressing.

Master tier, win rates this week (only looking at champs with 100+ games):

Zed - 65%, 146 games Talon - 70%, 100 games Kha'Zix - 61%, 500 games Rengar, 57%, 300 games Shaco, 58% 250 games

If you think this meta does not favour burst AD assassins then I want some of whatever the fuck you are smoking

edit: source op.gg (stats -> win rate -> master -> today)

Z3Sleeper1 votes

Idk where those sources are from. Not seeing those numbers on leagueofgraphs or lolalytics and champion.gg and op.gg don't give Master+ stats.

Stunˆˆ4 votes

OP.GG click - stats -> win rate -> master -> today

The number of matches in 1 day for Master Tier doesnt mean anything. its such a low number.

WashyMoney2 votes

Especially when literally only 1-tricks play him.

shockprimex4 votes

bro it's challenger. that's like 1-2 dudes there for each champ probably playing like 5 games lol.

Stunˆˆ1 votes

I literally wrote the number of games next to the win rate. I only looked at champs with more than 100 games.

Stunˆˆ1 votes

It was 1 week, and 1 week from the ADC buffs. And I listed the number of games, the guy has deleted his post but his argument was that "assassins are garbage in high elo" and that low elo scrubs shouldn't talk about the game.

I was specifically disproving that point alone. Not saying assassins are OP or anything like that (although I currently hate the dmg > 9000 1 shotholyfkwhereismylifebar meta - which does favour assassins.)

Basically any champ can be an assassin just sit in a bush wait for the enemy to come and 100-0 them in .05 seconds. I dont think assassins are OP but like any champ when fed they are stupidly hard to deal with due to mobility.

I mean the AD burst assassins have plenty of counter play...Duskblade just counters the counter play...to beat an assassin you ward your flanks before fighting, well Duskblade ignores you taking the necessary steps to counter play a fed assassin. To get to a nearly balanced state, either remove its ability to 1 shot wards and reveal them, or increase the cooldown and raise the cooldown. Duskblade is the sole reason AD Assassins are strong. Its too cost effective for a 2900 gold item

EmollientNut02 votes

Shit pink ward is OP lol

I'm in champ select now, how do I lock it?

koshkyra39 votes

It sounds like a meme but honestly its not even wrong.. it takes pink wards like 1.5-3 seconds to get cleared (depending on what class is killing them) but a Caitlyn takes like 0.12 seconds to get deleted by a 2/7 kha’zix.

Dedenne2 votes

When i play kha i compensate by going mostly tank. I still 1shot squishies with 1 rotation

Zeyd30 votes

I'm going to be honest this is the most hilarious and simultaneously depressing post I've seen in a very long time. Bravo

Beerstein30 votes

Not a bad idea. Rito next champ, 5 hitpoints, can only lose HP to auto attacks and regens 1 per second for each second out of combat. Tankiest champ in the game.

3TWarrior8 votes

Pyke : and we thought

TahmKench : this was hard

Votable Jester4 votes

Hate trying to poke Pyke down. Feels like you have to kill him 5 times over before he actually drops.

Of course they never actually drop from poke, they just run to fountain in stealth.

######Not saying he's op or anything, just that part is annoying sometimes.

Zeromatsu9 votes

I wouldn't even be surprised if a new champion will have this atleast partly in their kit since it seems like Riot has no ideas anymore.

Hayaishi221 votes

And the lethality item one shots it, some things never change.

ChaosReyn2 votes

I remember when duskblade was the problem...I'd go back to those days now in a heartbeat. At least my tanks still had meaning enough that I could fight someone. Yeah, "adc 2k18 lel" was a thing, but burst assassins are supposed to pop squishies. They're not supposed to run Dark Harvest and one shot people with 4500hp and 100+ armor...

The hardest things to kill in the game are the Baron minions.

ArvDaBeast15 votes

Why is it harder to clear a couple of baron minion waves than the actual baron

OrangeMarine2 votes

so that pro players' win condition becomes baron. If they get baron, they basically auto-win.

Whichever team is ahead forces baron and the other team HAS to contest, forcing a fight. If they don't contest, they lose anyway.

Forcing pro games to end sooner

I like how there are complaints about this post. But a quite review of almost any game played shows it to be true. I watched a 2/7 Rengar completely delete a 8/1 ADC then jump into a bush and delete the tank support immediately after with almost no trouble. A game or two later, tank Sion getting completely deleted in about 2-2.5 seconds by completely unfed people. When the attack speed of a champion determines how fast a control ward dies but an actual champion dies faster, it is a serious problem. Worse yet, most of the champions able to do that kind of damage have multiple dashes/lunges/teleports/etc and/or have purges to stop CC or outright immunity and/or have invisibility to ambush you, or massive healing or all of the above? So long as you are not a mage or non-dashy adc, you are going to get lots of buffs.

The death recap is so overwhelmed you can see a blank box for the damage half the time. :p I jest, but it is true that the damage is so far ahead of the defense that it is absolutely absurd. It makes for a very unfun game of watching people dash around with ridiculous safety and mobility, all that have insane wave clear (something mages and ADCs should not have... despite that being their role?) and roaming potential (yet nerfing mages that can do this?) and one-shot potential with basically no counter play.

Even at the top level of play, at World's, we saw LeBlanc completely dominate games because there is no outplay. She comes over a wall and you die with no way of stopping it. For newer players, this is a great way of driving them away.

I mean the game is already not noob friendly, There is a huge learning curve. and when people get instantly blown up whilst trying to learn the game they won't be having fun and will most likely abandon the game. And without new players the older playerbase will slowly chip away over time and without an influx of players could kill the game. Honestly though this game probably won't die anytime soon due to its huge playerbase currently lol.

one could argue there's less of a learning curve than ever though. (Besides learning every champion's individual abilities and getting accustomed to cooldowns).

minion waves basically manage themselves now outside of lane phase, they have slowly removed minion wave mechanics.

and then now since everything does so much damage, just pick a champ you like, learn it's abilities and blow shit up

Nail on the head. This is what I have been saying and is the point of all of the changes that are ruining League of Legends. They are removing skill from the game to make it "more new-player friendly." Unfortunately, this market strategy does not work long term and will cause a loss in revenue. It is a bad idea.

ChaosReyn1 votes

The worst part of it is that this actually hurts new players even more. You remove the skill cap, then the people who already had a high amount of skill now absolutely OBLITERATE you...so the newer players don't even have a chance to try and learn or practice what these veteran players are doing to them in a game because they're going to just get instantly deleted before they've got a chance to try.

"But they have bots! They can learn!"

Tell me the last time any of you could even attempt to compare bots to anyone above iron 2.

Not removing the skill cap (although that would be fine). What I am talking about is heavily limiting the skill of the game by making the bottom line easier to play to the point that you sometimes get free wins simply because of the power level of snowballing, despite being much worse than an opponent.

Bots are useless, yes. However, research helps tons. And if you want to play a competitive game but refuse to research and practice, you really do not want to play a competitive game.

I meant that as to say that I honestly feel since season 6 they've been dumbing the game down. Part of it is just in how much damage literally everyone does now. The other is in the fact that pretty much everyone since the start of season 7 has been given a stupid amount of mobility or oneshot potential (or both, in some cases) in their kits. Including new Akali, even though everyone hates to admit it because the old version was easier to oneshot with and was literally unpeelable. As much as I hate it (because I literally had just picked up akali as my go to assassin when they changed her and made sure I was bad with all assassins again...that's just me) that was probably one of the best changes Riot's made for their game's state in the last 2 years.

Yep. That is my point. They have a fundamental misunderstanding of the idea of fun nowadays. They want this big flashy game to show on eSports rather than the game that most people loved to play. This will supposedly draw in players, especially when they can roll their fingers around and get free kills. The problem with this that you can see these attempts, in different ways (but the same mentality) done in a whole lot of different businesses and games and entertainment and it literally never, ever works (except in the very short timeframe). It is only useful if you are planning on bumping up your views/sales/etc and then selling off the thing you are doing this with (in this case, League of Legends). So if that is not their goal, they should chill out and put the game back to a more sensible game based on strategy and tactics rather than keyboard smashing to get kills by accident.

hmm...it brings up an interesting topic, as obviously Riot wants to preserve it...

but what does tencent want? Obviously, they're probably at odds with their home nation (China) in the fact that their game was essentially being banhammered there. Perhaps that's more or less exactly what Tencent wants to do, and they're not really giving a rat's ass about our opinion of it...in which case, I can only hope that whoever Tencent sells to isn't as full r%%%%% as Tencent.

Yeah, I dunno what they really want to do. If they sell the game, it is very likely it will be completely destroyed. It is possible that someone buys it that actually loves League of Legends and wants it to succeed in the long term. Or, they could not really want to sell and are making the mistake that so many companies do and believing that their poor decisions are good for the game, despite the horrible feedback from a lot of players (including pro players).

If we forget about item 3147 , then yes control wards can be tankier, and tbh I wouldn't be surprised. You always need 4 hits, while some champions can be oneshot by set of abilities faster.

graves/jhin vs pinkward. always funny.

remember when pinkwards had 5 hp and they had to nerf them down to 4 hp? a 20% nerf to all its stats and still op. meanwhile irelia lost 5ms.

True lmao

Player can deal 2k dmg and one shot a champion

Takes 4 hits to destroy a ward

:/

ODiiiiiN3 votes

Well lets see... Lets do the math:

It takes 4+ seconds to kill a pink ward.. longer if the enemy makes you back away and it regens itself.

It takes about 2-3 seconds to get deleted by most champs starting at around level 12-15.

1.5 seconds if its deletion by a Zed, Yi or Zoe. (unless youre playing a tank, which only adds another 2 seconds)

Conclusion: You bet your ass a pink ward is tankier than most champs.

Riots solution? buff everyone else so we're all deleting each other.
