Rabadon is still way too overpriced

Riot, if you don't plan to change the AP itemization at all, I can understand it and I'm sure most of us will. But, for the love of god, atleast give us the opportunity to be able to purchase the semi-decent items that we have right now, for f*cks sake...

I could see knocking 300g off the combine cost being fair

NineTailedMystic10 votes

Honestly, making the build path not be 3 items would be infinitely better.

Divewing2 votes

switching it from NLR + NLR was not a good move imho

Malicious Metal16 votes

It never was two NLR. Back in the day it was just a blasting wand and a NLR

Then again, NLR was 1600 gold.

Next season: Rabadonn now grants 95 AD, 40% crit chance, 15% lifesteal and it's price has been reduced by 800g

...I guess you can build it on teemo

Honestly it's more the build path than prize that is the problem. You generally build it last or 5th, so there you have to sit on a item 1058 or even item 1026 for ages before you can complete it.

They plan to do a pass on AP Itemization sometime after the start of the new season.

My serious answer to your joking comment:

No, AP itemization has to come earlier, so they have time to nerf it into the ground again. It's just numbers, so general data over a few months suffices.

World's patches are for mechanical changes that have ridiculous impacts: Corki damge splits, Mordekaiser and bruiser reworks, you know, things that need the hardcore testing only a world class tournament can provide.

DarkRooster1 votes

They always fix completely wrecked mages IN FUCKING MID SEASON... till then ? GG WP

''MID SEASON MAGIC'' - that thing wear down really fast and secretly was just change up and never fixed or buffed a shit, Syndra even came out with more bugs than before.

I read "overpowered" and almost pissed myself

Rabadon's Fedora 1500g +70 ability power passive: Grants additional ability power based on your current bonus ability power, but only if you buy and wear it before it becomes mainstream.

It's actually hilarious how long item 3089 has gone without being a major item in builds. Seriously, I'm not sure why Riot has dragged their feet on updating it.

Vesemir5 votes

And i find it funny how i can counter a 600 AP Brand with literally one MR item (item 3194 ) . ARAM against 3 AP and 2 AD one being a tank. I tanked 3 AP with Adaptive and a Warmog sadly having item 3075 item 3068 item 3110 isn't good enough to tank an ADC called Lucian who shreds me with item 3153 item 3071 . Good game.

Disulfiram2 votes

3000 HP and 300 MR against a mage: you're unkillable 3000 HP and 600 Armor against a mobile ADC: you're breakfast

Ahri Baka3 votes

I partly agree and disagree , I main mages so I'd happy for that , but this way games will end much faster , so I'd prefer to make adc items more expensive , but at the same time I'd like to have cheaper items

LordGeovanni2 votes

Would kill for overpriced defensive items with decent defensive stats or overpriced fighter items with decent health and ad not either or because adcs will abuse it. You wont pay for a good item because it is 'overpriced' but will probably sit in 2000 gold and 6 full slots late game

Battalion4 votes

Off topic entirely, however I am curious to know why it alright for mages to have Rod of Ages, Liandry's Torment, and Abyssal Scepter, but many are complaining about ADC's having item 3071 and item 3033 item 3036 . ADC and APC can put out the same amount of damage on priority targets, yet wherever I go someone is complaining about marksmen.

LordGeovanni3 votes

Rod of ages is for some reason being a damage item has more hp than any defensive item with any armor/ magic resist stat tied to it idk how thats okay. Liandrys is an okay item until it gets doubled due to any type of cc. and Abyssal scepter is penetrating what hardly exists for a abnormally large amount. being magic resist because all of the slots on a tank go towards health armor items except 1 which is health magic resist items. just to survive more than 3 seconds versus any crit build some where around 5 seconds usually. And unlike the Black cleaver Mage items dont do what black cleaver does for every champion on their team versus that enemy they got item 3001 for that even though its worse than black cleaver. and that Adcs and apcs out puting the same amount of damage is usually on the same tank with 4 armor hp items and 1 magic resist hp item and boots either way. The disparity is that defense doesnt do a good job at defending which could only mean that damage from both sources are too high.

Weasel Kensei6 votes

WHAT the FUCK is an Abyssal Scepter? Cause that shit is gone.

Boop Daddy 2 votes

You ask what an abyssal scepter is and then claim it is gone. How do you know?

Supportposter2 votes

Luden's Echo is just better in every way. More interesting. More visible. Easier to build. Achieves basically the same effect of "more damage" without invisibly increasing a number that some mages care about way less than others.

Just turn Rabadon's into the AP equivalent of Essence Reaver. Give mages a reward for building AP-heavy mage items or amassing an enormous amount of it somehow that prevents mage supports or tanks from abusing it.

Squey2 votes

Because rabadon being overpriced matters right now right? Its rabadons thats one of the biggest ingame issues right now....kappa

Your average game is 20 min. Getting to 30 min is rare and a treasure. So most of the time, unless your veig, a game wont last long enough for you to even consider deathcap as an option.

KlydeFrog2 votes

lol deathcap tbh brings nothing to the table aside from the ap. moro, ludens, hourglass, all have almos the same amount but with a added bonus of cd, active, damage.

ParvatiShallow1 votes

exactly, it isn't supposed to ever be a core item. But it is always the best final item since the passive efficiency outscales everything with the bonus AP come late game.

KlydeFrog1 votes

i find it funny when people rush it when they fall off and do nothing becuase of it. same reason when idiots rush ie

Troll for Trump1 votes

Rabadon isn't too pricy, AP is too low

Yets424016 votes

Not when ADCs have BPS come online with sub 10k gold three item spike. They can't afford to be meaningfully relevant at the same rate as ADCs who out scale them and are resource-less for their damage, and with lifesteal have better sustain. The mages need to be able to come online earlier, and actually compete with the ADCs before the game is over.

Troll for Trump1 votes

There's still a lot of mages that are doing fine, so it's wrong to say "all mages." Generally, it's the lategame mages that are suffering right now, but a lot of them are doing fine. Mages don't generally have a "spike" but are just consistent in getting Morello's+boots+misc AP+Void. It's not that far off from ADCs.

DarkRooster2 votes

Mages are doing fine, except everyone else in comparison are doing FUCKING AWESOME.

NineTailedMystic3 votes

Literally the most expensive item in the game, excluding Ornn Masterpieces.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Because it isn't a core item. It could be lowered a bit, but it's a finisher or add-on type item that you should be getting probably 4th or 5th in your build.

500000000000000010 votes

It's awkward to build as 4th or 5th item though, because of high combine cost and taking up 3 slots until combined.

RocketRelm5 votes

The funny thing is that the AD analogue to Rabadons is Infinity Edge. Both amplify your damage largely because of multiplicative power.

One of these hyper lategame items gets built cost-efficiently before 25 minutes.

Troll for Trump2 votes

Crit != AP. You can't compare them like that.

Disulfiram2 votes

True, crit gives more damage at a more steady rate without ever missing.

Agent Corgi1 votes

I believe Meddler mentioned that they would be taking a swing at AP Itemization sometime after Patch 8.1. They wanted to make sure Runes Reforged was balanced & everything was in place for the start of the Season before fixing AP Items since it's more than likely going to be a "Medium-Big" sized project.

Disulfiram2 votes

Wouldn't it make more sense to do all the big changes at the same time and then balance a single mess instead of two consecutive ones?

Agent Corgi1 votes

It sounds like it'd be better to update them together, but I think Riot is doing them separate for a reason & I think I know why. (These are just my opinions, I could be entirely wrong).

[Runes Reforged]: Runes/Masteries were a very important aspect/mechanic in League. With Runes Reforged, they introduced all new mechanics (Kleptomancy & Summoners Spellbook are great examples) to the game that players will have to play around. It would make sense that they hard focus on making sure that** ALL** the runes are in working order & that champions are properly toned down or beefed up to compensate for this major change.

[AP Itemization]: While the AP Items are in _DIRE _ need of work, Runes Reforged was a major project that took Riot's Dev team possibly a year (Give or take) to finish. So my guess here is that they figured they could hold off on AP Items for now & get the big project done first. I imagine that the AP itemization will include number changes, a few item reworks (Rabadon's Deathcapitem 3089 & possibly Rylai's Crystal Scepteritem 3116 ) & possibly 2-3 new items.

NOHITDETECTIO2K1 votes

For it's damage spike, I always thought the price was worth the wait for mid-late game(5th, 6th) item. Me? I run Future's Market 90% of the time so I go into debt for that shit more times than not lol.

Linna Excel3 votes

Games don't last until the 5th or 6th item anymore.
