Ranked used to require players to have enough knowledge of each role in order to play successfully because you didn't have a choice in what role you play. It was pick order. A system that players were expected to honor, but was not enforced. It was like that for the first four seasons of league.

But I am a terrible ADC and that fact often hurt my team's chances of winning because it was the second least favored role.

Some people can, I used to be able to but decided to focus on mid and support, i can still add pretty well but mid and adc are my mains

I am a fill main....

I am typically limited in which champions I can play in those other roles. Whille I can play 80% of all supports, I can play about 2 top laners and by play I mean lose lane gracefully and try to win the game in teamfights.

Mid Lane well I can play supports in mid lane, Like Karma and Lulu, but will play utility APCs there as well, you wont see me play Zed or yasuo.

I am a Tank jungler

Well ADC, I can play Ashe at least until she was nerfed and well anyone can play Caityln recently been playing the AD caster ADCs MF and Lucian. I'll be fine with good support.

Before DynQ got around, you could be playing any role depending on your pick order, so players that have been around for long enough do understand the importance of playing and understanding every role. I know I do.

Anyone can play any role. I don't think it's too much of a stretch for people to select the role they want in the circle menu. Playing them well is something completely different though.

I laugh when people say they can't play every role. Before season 6 you had to be able to play every role because you didn't know where you'd wind up in the pick order.

So you mean to say that it's impossible for someone to have enough knowledge of 5 champions (1 for each main role) and learn the lane they go in? As someone mentioned, pick order literally forced us into roles we didn't want, so we were expected to play every role at a decent level of skill. What you're implying is that everyone sucks at someone just because you do
