Why are people complaining about Lux buffs

Why are people just now starting to complain about the Lux buffs this patch? The mana buffs were almost meaningless, most Lux players max E first, and rank Q second. The rank 1 cost of her Q remains the same, and the buff doesn't really start making any difference until she gets rank 4 and 5 of her Q, which isn't until level 13 and by that point mana isn't nearly as much of an issue.

Pretty much all they did this patch was make it so that her second Q target takes the full effect of the Q, which itself is minor and has minimal impact on her laning phase. It basically means that it hurts a bit more if you get hit through a minion, and other than that nothing has changed to her laning phase.

So what's the deal?

Her win rate jumped from around 51 to 56. You can be anecdotal be all like "yeah that buff totally doesn't do anything cause x" or you can look at the numbers and wonder why a moderately popular champ is suddenly winning so many more games.

And really anyone who's played a game of aram knows how frustrating an in meta Lux can be.

I'd just like to point out that Heimerdinger has hovered around a 55% win rate for many patches and nobody talks about him. I find win rates to be more anecdotal than anything else, or at least, they are with how the community uses them.

Ignoring everything the buff does and doesn't do for her and instead just saying "but her win rate" is a pretty shallow argument.

Except the part where not only is Heimer not a balanced champ but everybody that shits on winrates never seems to understand pick rates either. There's nothing anecdotal about raw numbers. If you want to just turn a blind eye and go "well yeah but mah feelings" then w/e there's no point even talking about it.

The Q buff was pretty major because now you can combo everything off of the 2nd hit, which is huge because before you would risk most likely missing ult and your e

the idea behind it was probably to incentivise her to max q in lane over her e. as people have complained how easy and effective her e poke is.

her q is a little bit more difficult to land, so they wanted to make it more rewarding. imo not a bad idea. if theyre nerfing her now in response, i hope theyre rather reducing the mana cost on her e, and have the size of lucent singularity scale with rank on the ability.

so its more of a follow up ability for her q early on and still retains its lategame strength as a zoning tool.

it would be more difficult to poke with it early on, but cheaper so its easier to use it to waveclear.
