Don't you lose CS by farming under tower?

So total noob question here, so someone in high elo help me out please, but what's the fuss with "Farming under your tower"? Don't you lose a ton of cs?

  1. By the time the enemy minions reach your tower, a few of them would have died by your minions.
  2. I mean if we're being honest, farming under tower isn't the easiest thing in the world, so you're bound to lose a few cs here and there.

I mean I know it's a lot safer, but if you're farming under tower, and the enemy isn't, they'd easily out cs you? Yeah, they're more vulnerable to ganks, but lets assume your jungler's ganks aren't the best. what do you do in that situation? do you keep farming under tower because eventually you'll get out cs'ed like crazy.

btw im not trying to make a point here, i know it's effective to farm under tower. I just want to know why/how

It's a defensive strategy. You're losing out on some cs because you can't allow the enemy to gain a certain advantage by killing you. If you die, not only does your opponent get gold from your death, but more time than you to farm cs and get a further lead.

Basically, the bottom line is you're losing some cs instead of losing ALL the cs if you die.

people usually complain about csing under turrets because a good bit of them underestimate the damage ramp up for every tower shot to the minions and you also have to factor in your minions so people really don't like csing under towers and also it tends to take a toll on the tower after a bit

there is no ramp-up.

you also have to factor in your minions

this bit can be tricky sometimes.

Well, you are farming under tower when u are in losing matchup. Its always better to lose some CS under tower than to die and lose all of them.

Last hitting under tower takes practice with whatever champion your taking. Early game 2 tower hits then a last hit for melee and 1 auto and 1 tower shot then a last hit for the caster minions is the usual method, If your AD is high enough. If not you might have to use abilities IE Mundo Q and E AA modifier/reset.

Farming under tower takes the most skill in the game. That's the main reason it's funny people tell noobs to do this.

You have to be able to use your abilities well and react to counter attacks, calculate tower damage and minion HP and your skills, while at the least poking the enemy while they try to CS too.

Farming under tower takes level 7 mastery. And that's not the base even probably.

Farming under tower doesn't take the most skill in the game. Farming perfectly, sure. But not playing safe and just getting whatever cs you can. Which is what people should be doing if they're losing lane. Not continuing to try and fight the fed enemy and dying over and over again. Missing a few cs/wave under the tower is a lot better than missing multiple waves from being dead.

True there is no ramp up. All towers are different, but lets take mid for example.

WITHOUT ANY HELP, a tower can 3 shot a minion --------this is assuming that there is no other minions attacking it and no champions dealing damage to it either. When there is minions nearby, it depends on how many times allied minions attacked. My example is that IF AND ONLY IF you are a melee (since your a.s. is better and animation is quicker) two tower hits and one basic attack makes it easy to farm under tower. This method is hard for certain champs and certain matchups as you can be damaged easily by enemies. Sometimes you will misinterpret the damage output by your autos and it can be extremely hard to farm under tower. My advice to show you would be to go into practice tool and literally just watch the tower damage to minions and try to incorporate that into a game after you've done it for a few minutes or so. Remember that as the game goes on, your autos will do less because every wave, the minions will get either a little bit more health or a little bit more defense (not sure on this point).

It does take practice and you should know if you will be able to get an auto off to secure the minion kill. It also depends on the champion you are playing. For example, Ekko would be more efficient farming under tower with more A.S. and damage per auto than Morgana, who's attacking animation takes way longer as she uses ranged spells.

In short.. yes it can be easier, but unless you understand your damage and other damage being dealt to a minion, it is way harder.

Depends on match ups

Some match ups you can force the enemy to push quick so minions won't die

Some match ups, makes it very easy to farm under your turret.

Usually, the hard match ups are in the top lane.

It depends on a lot of factors within the game, let me try to explain some of them.

If you want the wave to push to you (and get under your tower) it's ok to go last hit the minions still, just don't attack the wave more than you need to.

Unless, you're really far behind and walking up to the wave will result in losing a lot of health or dieing. This is where csing under tower becomes your only option.

IMO in low elo it is very beneficial to constantly shove the wave in, making sure you pick up every single cs as well. This will do two things.

  1. It will deny cs from the other laner, because low elo players are very bad at csing under turret.
  2. It will bait the enemy jungler to try and gank you, which gives you the potential to waste his time, which protects your teammates from dieing like monkeys But heed my warning: You need to be VERY aware of the minimap and have strong warding in order to do this. Whenever you choose to push in, be constantly asking yourself where you think the enemy jungler is, and watch the map like crazy. If you want to see someone really good do this, watch APDO. He's the king at mindgaming the enemy jungler.

However it is sometimes good to let the wave come to you. If you are significantly ahead, then learning to freeze(youtube this) the wave will snowball a 2kill lead into a 90 cs and 2 kill lead. Or, if you are very confident your jungler can gank for you (don't trust this at low elo) AND get the kill (as in their flash is already down, or you and your jg have hard cc) then having the wave come to you is good.

Anyways that's pretty much the basics of wave control. GLHF fam.
