"Damage is too high"

"Please revert Leblanc Rengar back to 1-shotting people in an instant. That was way more fun."

"Please nerf tanks. They're super boring and unfun to play against with their pussy play style. Hashinshin said so. He speaks for top lane."

"Supports are really fucking broken. Heals and shields need to be dealt with. We've been screaming for it for months and Riot doesn't listen. Shit, man."

"I die really fast can we tone down the da-"

These boards are a never-ending cycle of sticking a stick in your wheels.

You know, it's almost like the Boards have many different people on them who may have different opinions about how they want the game to go? Not some sort of hive mind.

The problem: People act like Riot should listen to the whine factor of the month instead of realizing that "Hey, maybe we're just an echo chamber of whoever's disgruntled right now. Maybe there's something about the game I'm not putting together in my head yet. Perhaps I should assess that instead of just call for the firing of the entire balance team when I build full damage Xin Zhao on a team of squishies."

Whine factor for the past 7 months*

One day they might fix the shit.

Boom Knowledge bomb.

It’s not even champion designs it’s the rune system giving additional unnecessary power to these champions along with items like Duskblade and Stormrazers.

If you make assassins revolve around instant 1-shots, what happens? They snowball more.

If you make tanks generally shit, what happens? People die more often because everyone on the map is squishy.

If you nerf heals/shields, what happens? People die faster because there's nothing there to pad these already squishy champs.

There's no game out there that'll justify having wet noodle fights between two squishy characters, so keep dreaming in that regard.

Madsin251 votes

Wet noodle fights and 1 second explosions are on completely opposite sides of the field.

If two people invest in full damage and 0 defense, LITERALLY WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GONNA HAPPEN?

Like, lets move to a simpler example: You and I have $100,000 to spend on equipment to fight each other with, right? I spend all of it on swords, flails, hammers, maces, spears...literally anything I can get my hands on that hurts when you swing it. If I walk in the spot and you did the same thing, literally the first guy that gets an opened wound is probably gonna die first. If, however, we spent some of that cash on armor we could wear, even if someone eventually dies, the first freaking swing doesn't decide that anymore since there's armor involved.

If I'm a full damage class, and YOU'RE ALSO a full damage class, what else is gonna happen outside of this short interaction lasting 1.2 seconds? Why would it make sense that this fight would last longer?

This is not real life. This is a fictional strategy game.

I want to have engaging fights within this fictional world. One second snooze fest explosions is a good way to balance the game sure, but it is not fun.

Then pick a tank.

"But then I won't have fun."

Everyone who doesn't want to pick the tank.

"But then I won't have fun."

Everyone

Fixed it up for you.

Ralanr3 votes

But...I do have fun playing tanks...

chipndip12 votes

Almost everyone

Madsin251 votes

Lol.

I would rather not start maining a bronze tier champion just to get some engagement.

chipndip13 votes

Then stop complaining.

"I deserve to live through a gun shot to the head by virtue of this sword in my hand" NOTHING works like this, fantasy or otherwise.

"Supports are really fucking broken. Heals and shields need to be dealt with. We've been screaming for it for months and Riot doesn't listen. Shit, man." That one was actually a legit complaint tho. The rest I agree with.

chipndip11 votes

The point is that people have been low-key wanting snowbally, early game oriented changes for MONTHS now without realizing it while wanting nerfs to the champions that prevent and/or stop snowballs.

Madsin251 votes

Ok for like the one thousandth time.

I wanted tanks to not deal endless dps while at the same time taking no damage.

I don't believe anybody asked for a fiesta of one shots.

If turning the game into a one shot fiesta is the only way to fix the tanks well time to go back to the drawing board.

chipndip11 votes

Tanks don't deal "endless dps". They just look like they hit hard when it's 10 minutes into the game and you're a squishy target 1v1'ing them.

Tank damage falls off. Their cc and utility doesn't.

Damage is still incredibly high and it is because of multiple things:

  1. Outdated kits and champion concepts that are not modernized with the new rune system and itemization.
  2. Specific trees in the rune system being better than others and catering to specific champions more than others.
  3. New champions with overloaded kits that make it hard to play as older champions with generic and outdated kits.
  4. Creep blocking makes it impossible for specific types of champions to do anything against these champion that can just teleport and go all over the map. It's not fun to play against a champion with an overloaded kit that just negates any skill and playmaking I make. It's almost like I have to sit there and wait for JG assistance . . . to get ahead in my lane. You want examples? Pyke, Zoe, Ekko, Kayn, and so many others that just have so much going on in their kits to make it impossible to kill them.

There is just too much going on at once when it just needs to be more simplified and about skill. In the old days of League you would spend matches and months trying to perfect your favorite champions. Now the game is about what broken item, champion buff, rune, or overloaded kit on a new champion that is better than you. It's not about skill anymore. It's about whatever Riot decides to work on and make better than anything else in the game right now.

Too many people hate reworks for me to take this seriously, even if I'm the exact opposite of those misguided souls.

  1. Specific trees in the rune system being better than others and catering to specific champions more than others.

Resolve tree is one of the best tree options in the game if you ask me. Anyone can primary or secondary that tree and feel fine like wine.

  1. New champions with overloaded kits that make it hard to play as older champions with generic and outdated kits.

You guys say literally everything is overloaded. Rakan's overloaded. Ekko's overloaded. Kai'Sa's overloaded. Xayah's overloaded. Yasuo's overloaded. Fiora's overloaded. Literally everything under the dang sun is overloaded these days if I listen to the boards.

  1. Creep blocking makes it impossible for specific types of champions to do anything against these champion that can just teleport and go all over the map. Now Zoe, Kayn, and Pyke are overloaded and impossible to kill...this is a fucking joke...

There is just too much going on at once when it just needs to be more simplified and about skill.

Alright NOW this is a fucking joke.

People didn't and don't want Leblanc one shotting people. They wanted to revert her infinitely pushing waves, waiting around doing literally fucking nothing while her spells procced, and having a better winrate building crit than AP. Hence why her damage on E was pushed to the second hit with no complaints. It isn't the damage people care about, it's the usability of her kit.
