Ryze Support?

Why I think this can work: Two second shield every five seconds along with a shield and ms buff Low cool downs and outplay potential in Ryze's kit allows for decent dps(a combo gets around 600 dps) with support items An ult that is normally mediocre is the perfect tool for a support to save team mates and gank with the jungler If you choose a utility build, with Courage of the Collosus you'll be a durable engager

Let me know if you have any ideas for builds or masteries, or just general advice.

So, you want a character

whose only CC is a snare
that has one utility spell as his ultimate
that scales heavily with AP and mana

in a role that requires

medium to heavy CC
a utility-based kit
no need for high scaling
synergy with a manaless and little-AP itemization

…Sure, that can work.

I dig this. Build mostly tank with AP items. Max the snare and focus on Q harass. Really good all-in power and comes with a buddy for ult plays. Also really strong pushing for when the enemy recalls or you need to get a lane to snowball.

Here's how I see it end up working.

They build full AP, sell their spellthief, don't so much as search for utility items like Amulet or redemption, and never buy a sightstone at any point of the game.
