Why is Riot forcing us into a corner on roles?

The whole talk about the Singed Support main made me think:

Why is Riot forcing us to play how they want us to play? People are getting banned for playing off-meta picks and going duo jungle. The new queue's are great, but if people are comfortable playing a duo top game, or a duo jungle game, WHY is Riot saying "No, that's not a legitimate pick." They're policing what we are and aren't allowed to play.

And don't tell me "Well he could just play that in a Normal Game." No. Everyone is entitled to be allowed to play ranked, when they are level 30, and have the 16 (or whatever) champions. If he wants to play ranked as singed duo jungle, he should be ALLOWED. There is nothing in a code of conduct at Riot that says "Players MUST AT ALL TIMES play within one of the five main roles, and any straying from said roles is bannable." The reason he didn't queue up as a duo jungler is because he has no way of queuing up as a duo jungler. Let people play what and how they want to play, and give everyone a dodge a day so that they can use it if they really don't want the singed pick that badly.

If your top laner doesn't want you going duo top, don't go duo top.

I agree! But my point is, you never have the option, because you only get a limited amount of choices to queue as.

U do realise that we the community decided the META and ROLES not riot. Back in season one, ADC would go mid and AP would go bot. 2 bruisers would share top and jungle did not exist pretty much. But then we started to play the current roles when fanatic won the first Worlds back in 2011. Everyone was oh this is so op and current meta roles were born. Now all RIOT did since season 1 was embrace community choice of style of playing the game and balanced the game around community choice of style. So as it stands the roles we playing now is the optimal way to play the game. Now have said that. I Don't think u should get reported or banned for playing whatever u want in normal in any way u want. But if u go ranked and u pick second jungler or teemo even if u win. Then u need to be reported. Because u force other 4 people in your team into clown fiesta. People won't know how do u fit into the team with your troll pick because it's not common. So they will reprot u because u will be ruining their game experience and community will be reinforcing the unwritten rules.

Hence the point on a free dodge. If they don't want a duo jungle, they shouldn't have to put up with a duo jungle. But Riot is forcing every player to not be allowed to play their desired role - support singed did not want to play as a jungle, he wanted to play as a duo jungle. That, in itself, is a role.

My point is, with the current system, players can't always play the way they have fun, or are good at playing - which is no way to play a video game.

not sure why your getting so many downvotes, but your right. I think players should be able to break the meta and try something different. I mean as long as they are trying their best to win and not feeding like a real troll would. their is more than 1 way to win the game.

Because he is commenting on something he is ignorant of. It wasn't "breaking the meta" that was the problem, it was the "having no interaction with his own team except to take their farm" that was the problem.

If he wanted to counterjungle all game he should have queued up as jungle. but he didnt now did he. He decided to go into business for himself and and troll. Good ban

They are saying his behavior falls under

implying that the Singed was not behaving like a team player during the games that they manually audited.

There's picking a non-meta champion in a role, and then there's picking a non-meta role.

For the most part, people seem to be fine with the former, as long as they try. But if we're going to be honest, most of us would rather not have a duo jungle/top; we're not used to it, we aren't comfortable with how it works, and even if that player knows how to play it,_ we don't_. I'm not familiar with going solo bot, nor will I be any good at sharing my jungle with someone else.

No, I understand this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this would be GOOD, I'm just saying that I feel we're being backed into a corner and the meta roles are shoved down our throats, without our say. Some people (like my example) clearly enjoy other roles - there should be some way to incorporate what they want to play into a ranked system.

Hence, the dodge point - one free dodge a day could be abused, but it could also save you from going with the singed duo jungle you didn't want. But it also doesn't oppress him, since eventually, he'll get a team that wants him, and can play with him.
