I'ma assume you're a Mage player
So in the vast majority of lanes, the first step to the wave control game is to just last hit and watch how the lane plays out. Normally in a Ranged vs Melee Matchup, the Ranged Champion has a push advantage due to a variety of factors. You could take advantage of most melees, Fizz, Akali, pre-Tiamat Talon, by getting the minion advantage and getting relatively free harass every time they want to walk up and farm. You can facilitate this lead intentionally by blasting the whole minion wave and the enemy champ with the same ability, intentionally walking up to auto and drawing minion aggro, or simply by auto attacking the wave continuously since the melee champ can't do that without being in range of harass. You're also not in any particular danger because it's so much easier for most Mages to break a frozen wave than it is for the melee to maintain a freeze.
Yasuo is a weird case however, where he has pretty solid to arguably better wave clear than many Ranged Mid Laners despite being melee. All those little tricks I mentioned that could bully most other melees will actually backfire on you. If you try to get a push advantage, Yasuo with his Waveclear will just freeze the lane and put you in perpetual danger of Ganks. However, the fact is he's still very short ranged compared to most Mages. The game is to let him push (just a little though, ideally try to get a freeze on your side of the lane) and harass him when you can. If you can pop his shield with a simple auto, or even accidentally through a big AOE ability (or Luden's), Yasuo's natural push advantage can backfire on him since the wave is naturally going to come to you, he needs to step even farther forward to last hit or push since he's melee, and you get free harass and gank opportunities to take advantage of him.
tl;dr, let Yasuo push, try to establish a freeze, harass him when opportune.
