My honest opinion about Ekko

I think he works far better as a tank/ap bruiser than a glass cannon ap assassin. There are several reasons for this, I find that Ekko is better in extended fights than most assassins. Being in extended fights allows you to proc your passive. Setting up a good W in teamfights often requires you to tank damage, also having sustain in extended fights often allows you to ult directly on top of the enemy. When I saw his kit on release before looking at his ratios I was certain he was going to be an ad bruiser. I completely get the nerfs that are on PBE now, tank Ekko was a problem but my fear is that Riot is forcing him into the AP assassin role, as a glass cannon assassin his damage just seems kind of meh when compared to Fizz Diana Leblanc who can easily 100-0 opponents. Also in teamfights he often gets deleted before he can proc his passive use his W or get a good ult. I have found Ekko works best as an AP bruiser, he still deals decent damage and is tanky enough to do all of those things. I'll honestly probably still build him this way after the nerfs to tank Ekko.

It's funny because Diana isn't labeled as an assassin.

I do enjoy building Ekko more bruiser like. RoA, Crystal scepter, abyssal, and hourglass are my preferred items (along with lichbane).

He's better as a fighter than an assassin.

I start ROA also the new item item 3152 is pretty good on him, sometimes I do get sunfire but I try and make sure I have over 100 AP from items before I do. I have no idea how Diana isn't classified as an assassin. Maybe she suffers from reverse Ekko syndrome.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Reverse Diana syndrome.

I guess she was originally meant to be an AP bruiser but how can she be when here burst is so good?

Well there are bruisers with good burst. Like Olaf.

I agree. A shield, an ability to reverse a percentage of damage taken over a period of time, a slow, and an AoE stun on a regular ability regardless of its length all seem to point to Ekko being a diver with a mix of tankiness and damage rather than a pure assassin. I don't know why Riot ever thought this champion would be best played as a glass cannon.

Honestly I have no idea either, everything in his kit just screams bruiser not burst assassin.
