About the upcoming champion select updates...

I love the animations and art that has gone into it! But is there a toggle to disable the fancy animations and stuff?

Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and I know I would use it all the time. But would it affect the players who have older computers that wouldn't handle all the fancy stuff? I'm slightly concerned that the high quality effects might hinder the performance.

I mean, if you compare the computational load of displaying thechampion select to the computational load of playing League, they're not even close. However, I would imagine that there's a stripped-down opion available.

Actually since they're going to be coming hand in hand with a client update as well, it's likely to be little different in terms of performance.

Different? Forgive me for my ignorance, but how so?

I think I accidentally replied to myself, so I'll just say here that I replied with an explanation to myself apparently.

Well theoretically from the full client rebuild the client is going to be lighter as there's more effective ways to build game clients now than back when the client was originally created, as apparently this is still the same client from when the game originally launched.

I'm no programming whiz by any means, but everything I've been hearing about the new client build seems to imply they believe it'll be more efficient, and quite possibly easier to run, than the current one. Not to mention that it'll be cleaner than the current one which should cut down on the issues we have with the current client tremendously.

God I hope so, the animations when you log in are bad enough, are we gonna have to deal with that shit in-game as well?

Riot better allow us to disable this bullshit.

I personally don't think they're bad, I'm just concerned about it's performance on other people's computers during selection.

If you can disable the animations, then you'd have the artistic graphics. That's not so bad, right?

Yup.
