The absolute state of the game right now
Was watching LCK and heard the caster go :
"We're getting closer and closer to that late game as Xayah finishes her 2nd item"
At first I was like .... Whhhhhhhat?
But then it hit me ... He's right.

Shit phrasing probably. I mean you are getting closer to late game when you get a
at your first back right? You are closer to late game than you were before :P
Every 60 seconds, a minute passes.
We age 1 minute for every 60 seconds that occur.
Except if you are Zilean.
,,As we hear minions are spawning and we are yet another step closer to the late-game."
,,First player commited their ban and we are so close to late-game I can already sense the ADC oneshots."
don't... just don't defend this terrible state the game is in right now. please.
It's not a mystery that RIOT aim was to make game shorter .... 2 items + Boots can be already considered endgame if the averange game lengh is 30 min
Average game length of 30 minutes is pretty healthy I think. Why are people complaining about this again? Nostalgia from watching old EU LCS reruns?
because people are chasing an impossible world where they win 100% of their games because losing isn't fun. And in order for that to be the case, games have to last longer so that they can get their sick hero plays and give the enemy team as many opportunities to throw as possible. If it's possible to win the game by playing smartly and grouping at 20~25 minutes it makes them angry.
I guess people just have different opinions on "playing smartly". I don't think picking jayce or kata, get one kill and run it down mid in 15 minutes while oneshotting everyone is "smart" nor "skilled". I think it's smart to think three steps ahead of your enemy, baiting him into a trade you knew beforehand you would win. Same with rotations and tp plays.
I've never in my life seen any champ get one kill and start one shotting people.
On the other hand I've beaten lots of fairly fed assassins/fighters/ADCs by playing smart.
Can you stop feeding the BS circlejerk pls, LoL is nowhere near as bad as this lot make it out to be
I personally prefer game of 40-45mins wayyyyy more than 25-30min games. Due to the natural progression of the game you usually know who will win by 15mins if the game is gonna end by 25 or 30. You're wasting almost half the game to reach an expected outcome imo, it's not fun and just feels bad.
Again, that's just my personal preference with an explanation. It's alright if people don't share my feelings
Holy crap, in what world are you getting 30 min games? My games are usually over at the 10 minute mark while the next 10 minutes is the enemy team slowly.... ever so slowly, ending the game because they just HAVE to take all our turrets even though they could just end.
I am for long games. Where 1 big, messy, breath taking team fight decides.
It used to be like that. People complained (righteously) that the first 30 minutes didn't even matter. I do like lategame teamfights, but I don't want to farm 20 minutes without anything happening before that. I'd like to have a gamemode where everyone starts at lvl 18 with infinite gold. I know that will be imbalanced, but it would be fun as a RGM.
Smite has a rotating game mode like that and it's actually really fun despite its imbalances (it's random so if the enemy team gets a late game hyper carry you're done).
Even tho i like late game more. It would basically make early game champions obsolete. But when both team has late game champions and just one lane gets stomped is not fun.
The absolut state of the game was when Afreeca Freecs picked Lulu in the jungle, if that doesn't show how weak the jungle in general is, I don't know.
Oh, and Enchanters are busted. Or at least their itemization.
EDIT: And they won!

So are we also going to pretend midlaners are weak because adc's go mid now? :^)
No. If anything it shows that adc's are just beyond busted atm.

But isn't that kind of the communities fault? Two years in a row Riot reworked the jungle. Both times only about 5-10 junglers could clear the jungle decently. All hell broke loose both times because "not enough champions could jungle. it's just pick the best jungle from a handful meta."
now that more champions have been opened up into the jungle it's, "Now literally anyone can jungle. it's just a weak and easy farm fest for the bored while waiting for lanes to gank. this is stupid."
Like really. do you want a strong jungle with strong junglers or do you want to be able to select your aged grandmother for the jungle and still be viable. pick one and stop bitching. Sincerely, a Jungle Main.
Weak would be picking nami jungle
lulu atleast has like 2 dmging spells plus her passive is ok
the jungle is weak? LOL

the jungle is weak? LOL
i think he ment that the jg monters are easy to defeat, no?
The role in general is weak, you're supposed to either peel your adc or perma cc the enemie, you're a no damage role after all, a glorified support and the teams (here: the adc's) second bitch.
Catchup Exp, Camp spawn timers, and the constant nerf of damage oriented junglers fucked this role over.
LOL
Why are people with zero understanding of a subject allowed to talk about it?
Is this why I saw a rogue Lulu jungle in one of my games yesterday...
HotS has a great balance of game speed and enjoyment level, but HotS is built for it. HotS games are faster because the whole game is designed that way. Riot has basically just artificially accelerated the game by making everyone hit harder. It's a really poor way to handle it, and if League's pros had any pride, they'd contest it.
I know we did when Houkou to Iou tried to make huge changes to the prediction system, and we were heard. Maybe the league I come from just gives more consideration to its players, or maybe League's pros just don't have the pride to speak up, but this should change. I don't think there are many League players who enjoy watching or playing games that feel artificially fast.
As a Kha'Zix main I enjoy faster games simply because I don't want to get to the point where the enemy right clicking jesus himself gets protected by a full active item support , their tanky frontline and mage so I will be literally useless.
If they make assassins more relevant late game I am all for longer games.
Even in good o' Dota, late game is finishing 3 big items.
aren't those items more expensive tho?
Minions give 40 gold tho. But yeah not enought, as when you die you lose gold :p
Thats why it isnt uncommon for a carry to play AFK nasus farm for the first 20 mins or so in DoTA
It also helps that Nasus isn't in the game.
Also in Dota if you die you lose gold.
I rarely find myself building Rabadon's Deathcap whenever I play mages. The games just don't allow it.
He's not wrong, he just phrased it poorly. Every item you buy moves you closer to late game. That's what he meant. Not that late game is ADC at two items, it's that every item that's finished gets you closer.
He didn't phrase it wrong. People understand it wrong. They hear "we're getting closer" and they start thinking "we got there".
They are trying to bring low level peoples up to the standard of the LCS players with shorter games. ridiculous.
Well... you also gotta remember those guys can farm like 300 minions in 25 minutes, so their pace is way faster than any Solo Queue game.
Irrelevant.
A carry's "late game" should not be TWO items.
atleast 4-5 items depending on the adc
A support's late game, however, is reached upon the first item.

Better than before where a support's lategame was

Other classes just wish they had a 32 item late game. ;^)
I really miss when the laning phase didn't end so quickly. You used to be able to die 2-3 times and still have 50% of your tower health. These days, if you die twice and the enemy team is coordinated you likely lost your tower and the enemy will roam and snowball from that.
