How promos work?

I'm waiting for my friend to reach 30lvl so we could start playing ranked together. For now we play normals and ARAM and some time ago I noticed that I'm placed more often with silvers and golds. I guess it's because we win pretty often so our MMR is pretty high? So here comes my question: How will our promos look like? Will we be placed with other unranked players who just reached 30lvl and right afted that go to ranked, so they are not very experienced OR will we be placed with higher divisions to match MMR?

You'll be placed with people with the default MMR; there are a lot of just-starting-out ranked people there, but I highly recommend not playing ranked right after reaching level 30. There will be people there that have played for a long time.

If you do win, you'll be placed with people of higher MMR until you start losing. That's how the system works. :P
