Athene's Unholy Grail Mana regen increased to 100% from 50% Unique Passive now restores 30% of maximum mana on kill/assist up from 15%

Literally all they needed to make it competitive with Morellonomicon was that first buff.

The second one is just delicious whipped topping on top of the slice of pie.

Am I still the only person who thinks the "Restore % mana on kill" is a completely nonsensical addition that only serves to break a few select champions if they get ahead (Swain, Anivia, etc.)

It just makes it so you can take objectives easier after a prolonged siege/team fight scenario. I really don't see how it makes any champion broken

Actually I love all 3 and I do not see how having mana back after a fight that completely drains their mana bar is a bad thing

If they were top tier right now, sure that would push them over the top, but they're pretty far from being OP right now

Again, they're so far from being overpowered, such a change won't break them. Quite frankly, you're delusional if you think Swain and Anivia and AP Kog are suddenly going to become overpowered if Grail gets a buff

Which is mostly because the people who play Swain are usually people who are already very good with him. Winrate isn't super meaningful until the champion becomes popular and the winrate stays really high or the champion is unpopular and the winrate is really low.

Currently the only champion I buy Grail on instead of Morellonomicon is AP Kog'Maw mid, because you end up spending like 30000000 mana to kill someone and the 15% mana restore on kills/assists helps immensely.

Grail was one of my favorite items before the nerf, and with these buffs it looks like it's going back on my favorites list yet again.

Which I buy will depend on which champ I play. If I am playing someone who is gonna need to use a lot of spells over a team fight or have sustained mana uses, Swain/syndra/etc, then sure. If I am playing a burst mage/assassin like Annie or Leblanc then prolly gonna stick with Morellos for cheaper price tag and more AP.

It was DECENT when you were low on mana. That wasn't good enough reason to buy it compared to Morellonomicon, which gave you a consistent amount of mana regen at all stages, which is better overall.

I'm honestly surprised they made the regen outright better than Morello when you take into account Mana Font. Like, I'm over the moon, but I thought they'd try to make things a bit more competitive between the two. It's possible they'll nerf Grail if it's imbalanced, but I'm pretty shocked they went for such a big buff in the first place. I thought they didn't give a crap about mana mages anymore :P

Cannot wait to try it out, to say the least. So happy Grail is back.

I built it in ARAM far more than morello simply because of that passive. With all the kills and assists you got, it pretty much solved all your mana issues on its own.

2: Lux is one of the safest champions you can play, sounds like you just do not know what you are doing. Look up and ask AWildAPSona for tips.

3: Her E Shouldn't be strong enough to insta clear a wave by itself. Gragas was nerfed for the same reason.

4: Solves her mana problems. In fact, solves them by a ridiculous margin.

Are you dense. Her e should insta clear waves. She the only mage that has her range but still has to put herself in danger to wave clear. People this shes safe cuz of he range the only thing she can do from a range is hit the enemy but she still needs to get in to cs. Gragas was a fighter with amazing waveclear lux is a mage. Also i dont need tips on how to use lux look at my match history.

Well, once you finish the Grail, but that means 2700 gold. Chalice of Harmony won't fully tide you by, and you'd have to skip out on a Rod of Ages rush (which I argue is more important to rush first as Veigar to compensate for his range).

Yes, and it'll still be good. But Grail was underpowered for its cost and build path, making it inferior in too many regards. With the upcoming change, though, Grail will be back in good shape.

Yay so mages that win a fight but used all their mana to do it can finally take objectives again. 30% of max mana is a lot even a couple kills/assists in that fight you won will leave you with tons of mana afterwards. I like it.

Well, those supports can actually go Frozen Heart + Mikael's Crucible and be good on mana. But Grail's upgrade will also enable more freedom of choice.

All three of them are tied with Soraka for the highest level 1 mana regen in the game. On top of that, Supports have more mana regen options than any other role.
