Malzahar: Should he have some of his power shifted around? Or should he be straight-up nerfed?

Anytime I face off against a Malzahar, I know I'm in for a lot of trouble. 3 second silence on his Q, extremely nasty ult damage (even if it is DoT and can be interrupted), two powerful damage abilities that are direct target, and extremely good wave push? Ouch.

People tend not to complain about Malzahar, however, because he's shut down by a QSS (although not everyone can take said item) and his ultimate is as dangerous to him as it is to his victim. He's even got AD builds that work off his Voidlings (though a good Smite can shut those down in a hurry).

Lastly, his build allows him to build some tankiness and still be a serious damage threat. Rod of Ages, Rylai's, Liandry's, all of those work exceptionally on him since he has such good AP ratios, and he didn't need DFG to delete you.

Despite his lack of popularity, Malzahar has always been threatening, IMO. With all the changes going around these days, perhaps Riot could take a look at him and see if there's anything that needs tweaking or nerfing.

Personal Opinions

  • Malzahar's 3-second silence should not last that long, even if it can be dodged.
  • Malzahar's Q should have a smaller hit box in order to match its visuals.
  • Malzahar's base damage on his direct-target skills could afford to be reduced; he needs to pay a price for building tanky.

Bruh, heard of Xerath ? He can kill you under your 2nd tier turret with that range and easily shove the wave to your turret. His mana restore is as superior as Malz's

Then there's Cassiopeia who if not, is waaay more broken than Malzhar. Her 'e' functions as a heal, mana restore, damage amplification and can CARRY in late like an AP ADC.

Malazhar needs his strong laning phase because he lacks the extremely high range of Xerath and the carry potential of cassiopeia.

People are just used to pubstomping mages now that mana regen was nerfed and forget how scary mages are in the first place. Malzhar has a very small but dedicated playerbase that know the ins and outs of the champion, he's perfectly fine.

Malzahar's kit just sucks in the current state of the game and numbers alone won't solve any problems.

At the moment his numbers are very high, but just because his kit sucks.
