Gangplank got reworked -> you can't play him because he died. Fiora got reworked -> you can't play her because she's disabled. Skarner got reworked -> you can't play him because permaban.
(Yes, a lot of other champs got reworked, but shh I'm making it more dramatic)

But I think at least part of Skarner's success is that he's an at least decent anti-fighter with his access to peel and area control. So the current fighter spam fad is playing right into his hands or, uh pincers.
