There is actually no point of building armor anymore on any champion.

Too much damage in this game it is ridiculous. Too much true damage also.

  • Conqueror gives free true damage and it still needs to be nerfed even more.
  • Crit items and crit damage was fine as it was before but because a bunch of crybabies were complaining on Reddit about how ADC's will be affected because of these overpowered crit items getting gold increases, Riot decides to lower crit items gold costs so basically they are more broken than pre 8.11.
  • IE gives True Damage and that combined with Conqueror.
  • Last Whisper Items gives total armor penetration.
  • Stormrazor I really don't know what you guys are doing with this item honestly. All the balance team does every patch is nerf then buff then nerf then buff. If you release such a problematic item, get rid of it. That's what you guys did to Banner because you didn't know how to balance the item out.
  • Duskblade basically makes every AD assassin that uses this item broken because it is overloaded and needs proper nerfs.
  • Stupid shit like Yasuo, Yi and Tryndamere still have broken kits. If Tryndamere builds AP, you are fucked because you try to build armor to counter him, he deals true damage with Conq and AP on hit. You build Magic Resist then you still get fucked because his kit gives him tons of free AD.

Like honestly, there is actual no point of building armor items anymore. 450 armor Malphites get killed in 2 seconds by 2 AD champs. You might as well build full damage on any champion and just hope for the best. If you can kill the damage dealer with your AP Malphite or your AD Ornn that will be more beneficial for your team, rather than standing there being useless while spending 7000+ gold on useless items that still get you killed in the same item as a squishy.

"no point in building armor anymore"

"Duskblade is broken"

Duskblade is garbage when you build armor. Armor is cheaper than lethality and totally cancels it. Lethality is 22.5g per point and armor is 20g per point. Lethality also doesn't have full value until level 18. They build serrated dirk. You build cloth armor to invalidate it.

Hyperbolic statements like your title don't lead to useful discussion.

When you build armor, you take less physical damage. Your title is just factually incorrect. You would get your point across better if you would make reasonable statements and back them up with good evidence.

Yep.

Wait, can you (effectively) build damage on Ornn?

item 3143 is your answer if critical strikes are getting you down. item 3075 is your answer if Duskblade is getting you down. item 3047 is solid in general against ranged ADC. item 3020 item 3006 are greedy boots choices and if you're buying them every game, you should feel bad about your decisions instead of the game's balance.

item 3020 are greedy boots

Most mages and AP assassins have at least 3% lower win rates when building Merc's over Sorc's and an additional 2% lower when building Tabi. This doesn't necessarily mean that Sorc's are always the best choice, but if they ever aren't, you're fighting an uphill battle either way.

If you're in a solo lane, you can get away with it. In any case, I would imagine some people buy the defensive boots without properly understanding why they are buying them. If you just panic and buy the wrong defensive boots, I can see how the greedy boots might have had more impact.

I like item 3009 on crowd-controlling mages, but that doesn't mean I buy them for those mages every game.

I used platinum+ statistics for this, so it's unlikely that a lack of understanding is what causes that disparity.

Most of the champions that want Sorc's are squishy ones. They want to hit, but do not want to get hit. If they are forced to build defensive boots, that means they're getting hit. And a squishy getting hit usually means they're dying, regardless of their boots, because boots alone won't turn a squishy into a tank, they'll still be squishy. So if they're dying regardless of their boots, they may as well take the damage-y ones over the tanky ones, so they can hit people as hard as possible before getting hit back. It's better to deal damage and then die than to, well, deal less damage and die. That's of course not how it goes every time, you may survive someone jumping on you with a slither of health because of your defensive boots and then proceed to carry your team through a teamfight. But that won't happen as often as you just simply dying.

I'd argue Swiftness boots are both offensive and defensive and that's why I like them on mages. You get not only better disengage, but better engage. As someone that relies a lot on his team, I like to get to where they need me faster.

I built item 3025 item 3047 and item 3026 on Ezreal (approx. 200 armor) and Zed still blew me up in 3 seconds.
