I think if you refuse to surrender you should step up and give a gameplan

RainbowIcee··30 votes·1,871 views

Because saying i refuse to surrender and let's hope for the best on a grim looking scenario is just basically trolling your team mates. If you really believe you stand a chance type it out discuss it with your team and work it out, just saying no feels like you're trolling the rest of us and laughing behind the monitor while you waste the other 8 or 9 people's time.

I usually give the simple plan of "stop trying to fight them" but there is almost always that one guy who refuses to follow the plan and ends up going 1/13/4 with 50 cs rather than 0/5/2 with 200 cs.

YuGiHo6 votes

someone always gets caught. they may even just be trying to ward and step too close to a death brush but someone will get caught. "dont fight" is not a plan that works. you may as well be saying "pray for a miracle".

AlienPrimate2 votes

I can accept you being caught out but when you continuously get killed in the jungle with 5 enemies missing, or worse, when you just saw an enemy in your general area, it seems to me that you don't even care anymore and might as well just march it down middle lane because the effect will be the same. There are also those insane types who keep on engaging on the enemy who just killed them. When the enemy is 5/0 and you are 0/5 and just a minute before the scores were 0/4 and 4/0, what can you possibly think changed that would allow those scores to become 1/5 and 5/1?

ExpStealer8 votes

Give a gameplan... sigh Giving a gameplan can maaaaaaaaybe work in Master or Challenger since people who are that high know better than to be selfish douchebags and would actually listen to you and discuss. Below that... I'm not so sure. Down here in Silver people are always with the mentality of "I'm better than my ELO; it's always my fucking team". Trying to tell them something as simple as "Play safe" can lead to a flame fest beyond belief. So let me see you trying to discuss a gameplan and actually convince your flaming teammates to listen to you. I DARE YOU

whats sad is like everyone thinks people say that because of egotistical mania (the im better than my elo part), and im just sitting here, no one believing me in the true case of gold 5 and i can leave ranked forever happy

Being truly stuck where you don't belong is a very rare case (from my experience, that is).

all my hopes and dreams died with 11 feeding teams in a row the instant i hit 60 lp silver 1

ExpStealer1 votes

I've had worse. But if you look at my stats across seasons I've been climbing constantly. For example my current winrate is 56% - two years ago it was 30% at the end of the season.

lol, one game we had a jax who was just running into enemy jungle and giving kills while spamming ctrl+4. all because one botlaner said "jax had 0 impact on botlane", nothing else. he said "okay i trol" and started running into the enemy.

anyway at 20 after wasted 5 minutes of my time we vote on surrender and OOOOH there's 2 no's... sivir said "nooo let's keep playing" meanwhile they were forcing fights for no reason and jax kept feeding intentionally. at this point i was just pushing sidelanes while i said in /all "just push mid im on sidelanes" and boom here's an enemy akali 13/2 oneshotting me meanwhile their jungler is still farming jungle and for whatever fcuking reason the game lasts like almost 30 minutes

what am i supposed to do with this? i was just farming and checking stuff irl semi-afk. you know there's people who actually want to play or at least not waste their own fucking time. if a game is clearly over then just fucking surrender, or at least let the enemy end quicker for fuck sake

Supreme Senpai691 votes

If you tell the enemy that, they're going to try to pad their KDAs. I feel your pain cuz if you AFK, you're the one that gets in trouble. But if you step out of your base, you die. But the enemy won't end. I just stay under a tower and wait for the wave to come to me. That way I cant die and im not AFK. And if the enemy throws, you're in position to push

Why do many people give a very specific example. No single games alike.!

I think it's pretty obvious that the plan is to let the game draw on a bit longer, let the gold lead become less meaningful, and hopefully get a pick that swings the momentum. Why does this need to be explained to you every time someone votes no?

this hasn't worked for a while. This was a great plan season 2 to like season 5 but let's be honest that was just kinda cancer. You were winning and the enemy team just turtle'd its way into catching up on gold. But now you're just waiting and hoping they throw their victory but if instead they're just pushing the lanes, taking the jungle and clearing dragons and baron you're just digging your own grave in there. I've been on both sides of that scenario once you're pushed to your base on all lanes and can't get out or you'll die the team in the base is just not doing anything really productive but extending the time

If you are that far behind and the enemy is executing correctly, the game is going to be over in a few minutes whether you surrender or not. There's not really a point in complaining about it. I'd like to think the OP's original point is when there's still a reasonable shot at a comeback. Statistically speaking, even if the enemy has taken an inhibitor, you still have about a 1/10 chance of winning. Personally, that's enough chance for me to stick with it.

Leaf on Bush2 votes

Yes they are pushing and your team doesn't even manage to be there to try and defend, like they are not even trying, even if you are pinging the towers and nobody else is making any calls, instead players get caught somewhere in the jungle and the others recall every 30 seconds or walk in circles like headless chickens.... but they don't surrender. LuL

And then they act surprised of you think they are trolling you.

I always love the guys who refuse to surrender and the are like "Cmone Team, if we stick together we can win this!" While the score is 4/32 for the enemy team, the enemy ADC has 80% Kill participation, 200 cs more than our ADC, we are down 9 towers and 2 inhibs, our jungler hasnt been able to enter the jungle for 15 minutes and their support outdamages our mid at that point.

But hey, we can so do this...

Usually when surrender votes fail I immediatly tell them in chat, "ok you don't surrender, so can you please try to win then?" Then I continue to make calls but nothing ever changes. No answer. They keep feeding, refuse to communicate, keep making the same mistakes and well...you lose.

Always feels like a big waste of time.

I don't give up until the team actually agrees to surrender, but for some reason it always feels like many players did give up but refuse to vote 'yes'. I am always trying to win until I have the defeat on my screen. I always have a plan... even if I vote yes, but then I vote yes because I am very certain that my team won't execute that plan. xD

I don't understand them... at all. I mean the only excuse they could have is that they really are so clueless that they can't even tell the diffrence between getting stomped and an even match.... but how is that possilbe in ranked?

I keep playing until my entire team gives up, or real life intervenes. Sometimes when they are close to ending i will stall the victory of a surrender vote just to make our nexus explode twice. My team generally gets a kick out of that and helps reduce tiltage.

I always have a reason and I would love to give a gameplan, but 90% of the people in my games won't listen. It's best to have a friend who will listen to your input, thankfully I do.

TempName748143 votes

i only vote no if "we can win if... (we outscale, we split push, we force a fight, we bait baron, etc." if there's nothing i can think of to win, i just vote yes

RenownedWheat423 votes

I did this. Started off with "Let's not fight 2v3, stay back and defend. Farm up. They can't reliably dive, so we got this."

Got "You do fucking nothing, troll" in response. All because I'm the guy with the least deaths on the team.

We give reasons as to why we don't want to surrender. Maybe some people need to work on accepting those reasons and working with the gameplan. Detilt when reason is offered.

Kanzler3 votes

Do you think the people who want to spam surrender votes are willing to listen? Those quitters just want to leave.

Besides, the game plan is always the same.

  1. Stop taking fights while behind that you lost when equal. Unless your advantage is blatant, dont even try.

  2. Farm safely. Get what you can and farm near a turret and place vision behind you.

  3. Stay grouped as 5.

Optional 4 to the dumb jungler i had last night. Stop face checking bushes and chasing into fog of war while alone 30 minutes into the game.

SilentBomber1 votes

I think it's fine to spam surrender votes since we all have the right to do.However,it's not fine writing in chat all the time things like "ff,surrender,e.t.c.".By choosing yes/no is pretty much enough i think.

ValyrianBlade2 votes

I mean, if I'm in promos I'm not surrendering, even if our only hope is someone on the enemy team gets a power outage...

Like, it could happen. I've won a game because the enemy team surrendered when one of my allies dc'd and they didn't know it yet.

RainbowIcee1 votes

i've won a 4 v 5 from the very beginning of the match because the enemy team fed 2 kills to draven and draven didn't want to surrender he said he'll carry so we didn't do the remake and he did indeed carried. but that was a decent argument. It's Draven and they had no tank but if you're just in base trying to survive the game is pretty much over at that point unless someone has a plan for a come back besides just survive and see what happens.

BobaFlautist2 votes

I usually do. However, if my team is getting stuck on a hostile "Which sonafabitch voted no, I will personally come to your house and drink all but the last half-ounce of all of your milk cartons, so help me" witchhunt, I won't.

Countersuggestion: if someone votes no and you don't know why, what if you speak up? "Ok guys, what's the game plan" shows that you're open to playing it out, and that you're willing to try to follow shotcalling, making it much more appealing to make suggestions.

Raven Redeemed2 votes

Playing from behind is a pretty common technique that should be common knowledge. While there may be a specific plan in mind like group up and see how a team fight goes, playing from behind is usually about reacting to the other team's actions. It takes too much time to explain to your team how to counter the multitude of actions the enemy might chose and is usually common game knowledge anyway.

I don't think people need to explain themselves when someone else wants to throw in the towel too early. To the person who choses not to surrender, you are wasting their time if you give up on a game you chose to commit to in champ select.

And at the end of the day, you are playing a video game; you are already wasting time. You are playing for entertainment and probably should not be playing a game with a 50/50 win chance if you can't be entertained when playing from behind. That being said, I understand if you truly believe there is no chance of winning as opposed to just wanting a reset when the going gets tough.

Flippy342 votes

There shoudn't be option to surrender. People would actually realise they are here for playing game not just trying to surrender after 2 deaths from 15 minute of the game. I like when someone picks late game carry and after some deaths he just wants to surrender. I am actually sick of people crying 24/7 and trying to surrender.

RainbowIcee1 votes

It's a team based competitive game, you can't really say you're having fun if you're playing Counter strike for example starting as a new player and the experienced players are just using you as head shot target practice every time you spawn. All you can do i hang around a corner to live as long as possible until they find you and kill you again. This isn't fun, but if there's someone on your team that feels the game can turn around then they must have a plan right? so that's what i'm trying to express, this person with a plan should speak up if they refuse to surrender so everyone is on the same page and apply it. If they just don't want to surrender because they don't feel like it they're just being harmful to both their team mates that aren't having a fun time and will get banned for afking and the enemy team that may want to move on to their next game or are looking for a challenge that your team isn't giving them so they might be bored too beating you.

I think rank games should have the /ff vote removed after 4 minutes into the game because at 3 minutes into the game you can remake if someone didn't connect.

yoshi27902 votes

Just so the other 4 can completely ignore you? Gameplans are almost never followed, even if youre 20/1 and they are 0/50

Herlgar1 votes

I don't surrender because we probably will lose. I surrender if I'm not having fun in the game anymore. I don't see the point in starting a match you know you have about 50% chance to lose if it's to abort 15 minutes in because the enemy has a lead; I might as well just not play. Even if we don't stand a chance, if I'm enjoying the game, I'll vote to keep playing.

Raoul2 votes

50% chance to lose? Great! Gimme Gimme Gimme! I love such games.

95% chance to lose? Just jump over your ego and surrender PLEASE!

i disagree to an extent. it depends especially on your elo, in low elo its not only common but can almost be expected for the team who's winning to start playing cocky and stupid and throw the game. and as far as the whole explaining a gameplan thing goes, thats something you should be doing anyways. imo it should be decided by a mix of "can we come back" and "will it be fun even if we do/dont"

Something you guys seem to forget. When you Que up for any game mode you are saying i will play this game and try to win until i ether lose or win however long that takes. That even means if you don't think you are going to win and want to /ff and the vote doesn't go through you have to play and keep trying to win. Who knows you might actually win, or you might lose who really knows until you see victory or defeat come across your screen.

Don't pretend to speak for other people. I avoid PvP whenever possible until a Hextech Chest comes up, And being 4/3/3 in a game with all lanes lost, two-three dragons lost, rift herald crashing into inhib towers, and the enemy mid and botlaners going 13/1/7 (or worse over, being on the receiving end of those lanes' kills) means that we are not only going to lose, but it feels like a complete waste of time I could be using in a separate game in which I have an actual chance of getting the chest.

Others yet just play to enjoy the game, and being on the recieving end of a 3/25 stomp while the enemy team spams "GG EZ PZ uninstall" isn't fun

Sinister Anubis1 votes

If its that bad as you describe, then you are going to lose in the next 30 seconds. What is 30 seconds to another 20+ or 30+ minute game. Its like nothing at all. The point i was making is its not up to you to /ff when ever you want. Its up to the team. Some people have had way worst games then you i'm pretty sure i have. I'v also come back from games i'm sure we would lose. Don't give up or troll your team because you arnt having fun or because you feel you are going to lose is the point i am trying to make.

I have personally won 3v5 games in rank no less. I have been a victim of being the only person left in a game at 10 minutes because my team got upset and left, on a game no doubt we could of won. I have actually lost games where the enemy team /ff and my team thought it would be cool to do the same right after they did and because we /ff right after they did we lost some how. As i was saying the game isn't over because you call it over. If there is minions coming out of both bases and the timer on the clock still keeps going up you can still win. Never give up this isn't just a league lesson its a life lesson. Nothing is going to be easy and if you can't persevere in a game you wont make it far in life.

I would appreciate it if some smart dudes, explained the reason they downvote a logical post.

Refusing to surrender is not trolling.Deal with it.From the other hand asking 10 times to FF in chat because you went and gave Free first Blood at level 1 or died 4 times in 5 minutes because you play like a bot is a toxic and reportable action, because it simple means "griefing".Meaning, giving up and using chat to force the other to surrender.

There were tonz of games in which we won even when a player was simply trolling.Arguments, hard flame, intentional feeding and more. But we still won our games because 2 guys refused to surrender and stayed positive. In which world staying positive means trolling?

I agree there are games that simple can't be won because all lanes game up 3 kills each at the same time but this is freaking rare in my experience.

FatedSaviour1 votes

i agree with this, only for reasonable ff votes, if its some guy giving up too soon when only like 1 or 2 people want to ff, no, but if your making the difference between gg and no gg, then give up the game plan

Supreme Senpai691 votes

It's even worse when the entire team is doing well, but at 15 minutes your <Insert lane here> has gone 0/12/0 and made the game unwinnable. You try to surrender this hopeless game, but they're the ones who vote no lol. But then they just keep dying.

Andrey03451 votes

I always, when refusing to surrender, try to explain why we can win if I hope to win this match as getting 4-1 surrender feels bad in a match that looks winnable. Few times my team was on verge of surrendering but they reconsidered it after I explained how we can win and we ended up winning.

Just have a look at my last ranked today. We were behind 11 kills at minute 12 and 8k gold at minute 20. At minute 35 our nexus were 2/3 life. Our midlaner Yasuo ended the game with 4/16.

And we did win. [Even..... I can tell you. I could make vid full of "omg-moments" out of this 48 minutes]

I had to fight because it was my promo. As I dodged the promo before (haha) accidentially (they banned Zyra).

Surrendervotes... you can guess the amount.

Game plan. Oh, yes. I told Jhin to "buy exec" and he agreed around minute 20. Perhaps he did understand Hextrinker (was his next item then; only swain with magic as vs)? I don´t know. I told them not to fight without me.... 21.... 22.... 23.... 4 seconds later [fight w/o me].

Nice to have a plan. The problem is that to have one is only one side. You need someone accepting advise.
