I Would Like To Hear The Communities Opinion On What They Like/Dislike About The Support Role
Do You Think It's The Funnest Role?
Most Boring Role?
Stale And Unpleasant
Or Thrilling and Fresh (That Redemption Item Boys)

Sorry had to :P
But the support role is fine. EXP issues sure, but outside of that Supports honestly receive quite a lot of love. Also the most flexible role when it comes to trying off-meta champs and builds. But that's just me~
Right,I've been trying to figure out just why the role is in such short supply, lets be honest when you go in as support/fill you are rarely waiting for longer than 30 seconds due to the demand
It's mostly a mentality thing.
Support is fun to play, but players get this idea that playing support is boring and you can't make any flashy plays or carry if you're playing one.
Supports also receive a lot of crap from players since they technically are the weakest role (less gold and EXP usually makes you weaker than your allies). So when something goes wrong usually supports (and jungles) will receive a lot of heat from players for not doing well or making them lose, even if they didn't have anything to do with it lol. Supports also rarely get any kudos/praise for when they do make an amazing play or setup, unless the team is one of those rare "super friendly let's have fun" kind of groups haha.
Players want to be the Top Dog essentially, but they don't think you can do so by being a support. Which, is kind of true. Mid, Top, and ADC are known for making the big plays and carrying games hard. They're the ones that get the recognition so players usually flock to those roles. Jungle is getting there nowadays, but it's not the same compared to being top/mid/adc.
Not saying all that is 100% fact. But it's mostly just the mentality that players see when they're first starting or when they want to climb to higher elos. They wanna be the new Faker, and since Faker isn't known for playing Support they usually avoid that :P
I dislike vision itemization. There should be more options, trinkets should have reduced effectiveness to not be crutches, more interactive items like new Duskblade, and evenly distributed among classes (supports should have the niche of having a static, larger pool of wards, but not the only person buying vision items).
I would love to see the ability to buy different flavors of wards that have different extra effects
just a couple ideas off the top of my head
As a mid laner I hate how little I have access to (basically just the trinket) to contribute to vision control
It can be. It can also be the most confusing, and or difficult position to play super well. Your stats aren't measured in Damage dealt or taken, but opportunistic CC and the ability to set up / peel in fights. It can also be a dreadful experience where your entire team lacks the mental capacity to grab their ass with both hands.
Some of us also like playing "Supporty" champions in other lanes. (CC tanks top lane, Utility junglers, Utility Mids) I can say from certainty that there isn't enough versatility in the itemization.
I hate being worthless becaise my lane partner can't cs, trade, or dodge skillshots at all. I want to roam, but leaving them to 1v2 only ends up with two fed enemies.
I main support, more specifically
Everytime I would try to play another role to main because I feel like I have to rely on my adc to be good at their role, I would still always find myself back to playing support. It's something about being the shotcaller of the team and getting those "ty nami <3"'s that makes me feel so rewarded. I personally think that the support role is the most diverse, I mean people bring in Brand, MF, and Singed for support and it can work out.
However, Riot itself doesn't rewards supports enough. It seems harder for us to get an S+ than the other hyper-carry roles. Also, the main champion pool of supports have remained widely untouched other than Soraka being gutted and Alistar being nerfed/buffed here and there and also a few others. I would really like to see a new support champion and a rewarding system for supports in ranked games.
If anything goes wrong in a game, it usually is blamed on either the support or jungler, which sucks ass.
Support is definitely my best role, I am a way better support than jungler or mid laner, but I often avoid playing support because of the frustration from playing it over and over again.
When you lose as support, it just feel like you gave up post secondary education to work in mcdonalds so your younger sibling can have a chance to attend university, only to see them drop out and fail. it is sad and frustrating.
When I started playing strong solo que champs it got a lot more fun. Specifically Karma, Tahm and Bard. It's nice to actually feel strong and useful. If only people would make proper use of Bard portals and Tahm ult.
It's fine. You might not get kills but you can really make some amazing plays with support champ utility. I just don't queue as support often because I'm an ADC main and already see enough of bot lane.
tank supports too little CDR
worst thing about the role is the champions. everyone except bard is boring as shit and Taric's new ult is cancerous. every single one of them puts me to sleep
I like Nami. I don't really like anything/anyone else. If it wasn't for Nami I wouldn't play support. As is, it is my primary role.
support is pretty alright, i like it better than adc early game, but adc is funner late game so long as you kept up your farm. if you know what support champ synergizes well with what adc, support can be pretty fun
it's a lottery whether you get a good player or some potato which makes or breaks the experience. Can land all your CC and skillshots only to have the ADC not care and just keep freezing lane to last hit without using any abilities ever so all of that is wasted. Then when you get a double kill or make the other bot lane go back your ADC still just keeps freezing lane and gets mad when you start pushing for tower
Main reason is kinda only half a reason for me, but I play a lot of ranked, predominantly ranked, and am a mid main, so for me picking support anywhere in my role select means never seeing mid again. As for the role itself, the xp thing bugs me, and how little everyone else can contribute to vision control (but that's not a support exclusive issue), but my main turn off are arrogant ADCs who don't understand compositions, champion strengths, and win conditions, and pick something like Lucian but aren't interested in pressuring the jinx at all, then cry to me when she tears us apart later.
But that's all a case of "what do you hate about supports". The role-select thing is a problem for me, but I don't know how that would be fixed. As for the actual support issues I listed the first is an annoyance, the second actually infuriates me but is not exclusive to supports, and in recent history I've only had that third scenario happen about twice, which made me not support for about a week, but not completely
I don't play alot of support but I did main vayne for a bit. It seems that people don't really know what they're doing as supports. I had a level 6 blitzcrank once that didn't land a single pull all game. But whenever I play support, I peel for my adc and they get fed. I don't see why people have a hard time playing support but I find the role very easy
It depends on support, you can play bard but you can also play Janna. The same is with adcs you can play Draven and you can play vayne, every lane can be easier or harder depending on champion you are playing with. But I can agree that most of supports seems pretty easier than other lanes.
The problem with supports and possibly why that blitz was having problems is that if a mid laner does their job well but every other lane fails, they can leave the game thinking I did well. If a support does well but the adc doesn't? That's an entirely different story. The support generally either gets salty or feels like crap even if they did very well. Not only are they likely to be blamed and flamed by a bad adc who is looking for a scapegoat, but even though they did well, their lane didn't win so they don't have that little confidence boost that the other lanes can get even in a lost game. I main support and have learned finally that if I lose but did well, I should take a break. Cuz I am always tilted. However if I lost and I know it was my fault then I try to learn from it and go into the next game even more determined. And just to throw this out there, missing every hook in a game doesn't mean gg or that he played badly. I am a level 7 blitz and against more oppressive lanes, if I fall behind too badly I will occasionally use my grab to proc my relic shield on minions without risking getting caught out. If the enemy knows blitz then it's very easy to play safe and make him all but useless just from a lack of opportunities. Either get poked to death trying to get in close to initiate with E or get caught out by the jungle or support cc trying to get a better angle for a grab.
As a support main, it is quite clear that I love the role. Supports play protector class that aren't exactly filled by other roles. I just thoroughly enjoy helping my carry do well.
But the downside is just that. Supports can set everything up perfectly, but they still need to rely on another player to truly be relevant. If the carry does poorly, supports quickly become useless.
the fact that i can still be level 13 without a finished build by 45 minutes in the game because I've been mostly team fighting, warding and roaming
It fells as if there is no relation at all between playing good/bad and winning/losing.
With nami my victories/defeats feel totally random. Completely.
