Self destruct passives should revive if they kill the champ that hit them last

I don't play these champs but it doesn't feel fair for some reason when I see Sion die after out playing the opposing team and dying any way

Current untargetable champs would need decaying health and be targetable like Sion to start

So an assumption, no exploration?

Sions balanced as he is, i'd rather not break him.

Sion main here, let me just weight in.

Um...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO, nooo, No, no............No.

That about cover it? We good? Good

Sure, explain?

Meep Man1 votes

Yeah, I agree with Jbels. No. Why? Really? You need an explanation? Hmm, let's see, that's just a needless buff that would make Sion, Kog'Maw, and Karthus even stronger. Especially Karthus because you usually get a kill as Karthus after dying at least 33% of the time if you are smart. And if you added decaying health then it would just be a pointless change. Why buff something if you know it will need a nerf with it? This would just make all those champions too strong, no need to explain with exact numbers or anything. Especially since ALL of them are currently pretty balanced and have a good fanbase behind them. Have yet to meet a bad Sion, Karthus, or Kog main.

Kog is the only one you can't easily get away from without burning flash or mobility of some kind. The other two you can walk away from easily. Unless karthus is positioned really well, a flash or the next best alternative counters him just as hard as kiting sion.

Sion gets kited into oblivion because you can hit him, things could be more interesting with the other two if they had similarities to sions passive.

Karthus has range, unlike the other two. Plus he has his ultimate, which is usually how you secure a kill as Karthus. Plus, if you get killed as Karthus without them already blowing mobility, you are just a bad Karthus. If you want to specifically buff Sion, say specifcally Sion. Don't put Karthus and Kog in here.

Not fishing for buffs, I don't play any of these champs on the regular, I main Darius. It's about making revival passives interesting for good players, breaking even isn't fair on them and most importantly is not that interesting.

Say for someone like Zac instead of having a CD on his passive, it is weaker the more it is used and stronger the longer it is not used, the speed, amount of blobs that drop, resistance scaling and blob health are the range.

Sion is on a very delicate tip of an iceberg called balance. His kit is very strong in the right hands, and decent at best in the wrong ones. His passive is a part of that delicate balance. The reward for being good with it is getting a kill or two that you should never have gotten. Giving it this kind of buff would not only make Sion toxic in lane (as he would devote his entire laning phase to killing you, not even caring about the damage he takes because if he can kill you in passive he comes back), but this would attract the attention of the nerf bat, and it would not be merciful

Brascus1 votes

Is that how it plays out for Aatrox Anivia Zac ?

Oleandervine1 votes

Karthus would never get killed, because he can almost always nail the champ that killed him.

Brascus1 votes

I realized why it would work for sion but not for Karthus/Kog, those two are untargetable. Sion's passive can be kited all day.

Colgate Gator1 votes

Hahahahahano.

Your reward is that you took the fucker who killed you down, and you got a kill as well, effectively nullyfying the advantage he got from killing you in the first place.

On death passives are really underwhelming for people that don't die a lot, breaking even isn't the most satisfying strategy.

That would sap a considerable amount of power in a champion's power budget. Hell, any currently existing champion would need to be gutted for that to happen, it'd be better off to make a completely new champion for it...

Brascus1 votes

That would be a good place to start testing the waters, there are already plenty of champs that don't need a kill to revive, they just revive Anivia Aatrox Zac

Conditional revivals is something that hasn't been explored on a champ yet

IcyPepper2 votes

Each has their own conditions for their passives as well.

The problem is smacking this new condition on top of those passives, and no champion existing in the game has a theme that would mesh well with this new condition. If a "revive on kill" passive was made, it would be unique to that champion--the other revive/post-death control passives would probably just remain the same.

And using Aatrox as an example... do you really want to trigger the poor Aatrox mains?

What's an Aatrox?

I bring up sion because I see his passive easily countered all the time, he doesn't even have abilities when raging so it's not very scary at all, he can only run up and hit you, Aatrox can't even do that and he has a ranged slow and gap closer.

Karthus and Kog would need more complex adjustments to add that to their passive, for he'd be targetable + decaying health to start, Karthus on the other hand is more tricky because it messes with his theme of gaining superiority while undead.

Remember zyra's old passive? :D Remember how shit that was lmao
